Red and TrueBlue Family

Red and TrueBlue Family–4

Dear Siblings Three,

At least three of us four
have survived this first round
of sharing our seeing Reds
and our  feeling Blues.

At this point
I imagine our eldest sister
reading with interest,
and/or possibly contempt,
and holding all these things
in her heart and mind.

The other three of us,
two Blue,
elder Brother Red,
each have told our stories,
reviewed our positions
during this first year
of the Trump CEO
Public Sector Administration,
USA.

I did not find an explicitly stated value
or disvalue
shared by all three of us.

There are, of course,
several values and disvalues shared by the two Blues,
Kerry and me,
and two disvalues
shared by RedMike and BlueKerry
are loss of freedom
and loss of safety.
And, although I didn’t say so,
I would certainly put these two
squarely in my disvalues column
as well.

Integrity is a positive value
mentioned by both RedMike and BlueGerald, me.
While BlueKerry does not use the word
I know her well enough to appreciate
this also fits transparently within her values lens
just as venality and mendacious subterfuge
are disvalues
both Blue and Red CoHeld,
and yet too often targeted
by cash-fed multinational media.

Apparently
as we love integrity
we are also fascinated by its evil opposites,
like Lot’s wife
looking over her climate holocaust shoulder
when it would be way better for her health
to dwell on the PromisedLand in front of her.

Blue responses
emphasize health care giving
and sacred gift economy receiving,
restorative justice and peace,
and ecological education
as therapeutic values.

Mike’s Red response
emphasizes moral code,
law and order,
retributive justice
and defensive technologies and personnel
as more saliently held values.

Yet,
these are apparent differences of priority,
not necessarily oppositional Win-Lose differences.
Points of contrast invite comparison
and need not predict disloyalty of mutual incompatibility.

To my surprise,
and dismay,
I do see some points where active RedValues
seem to also be active BlueDisValues,
double-binding Win-Lose Boundary Issues:

RED / BLUE
Divine rulership-authority / degenerate monoculturing climates, cultures
Military strength / loss of global and national safety thru violence
Monocultural intent, monopolistic monotheism / sacred polyculturalism

As I look at these three,
they begin to look like three faces
of one tension
within a shared Sacred PolyPathic Intention:
Retributive blood justice through crusading JustWars
conjoining
Restorative EcoJustice through BiLateral PeaceMaking.
Old Testaments
within New Grace Contexts.

From a Red evangelical Christian frame,
this takes me back to Jesus Christ’s
prime Messianic message
and function
and purpose:
Jesus came to save this entire creolizing Earth
through Abba’s restorative grace economy,
baptism through living water and full enlightenment,
healthy light transubstantiating His Judaic Law and Order
retributive sacred justice through blood sacrifice Traditions,
through just-wars and OldSchool self-righteous jihads
and military might of Caesar’s commodifying Win-Lose coin,
colonizing violence all now washing away
by baptism of Messianic-Bodhisattva redemption,
polypathically sacred,
polyphonically sung and danced
by and through rivers of sacred world-citizen enlightenment,
bilaterally cooperative spiritual experience
of polyculturing Grace
for a world so loved
God created
to regenerate Christ’s EarthBound Eden,
perpetually reborning.

First Nation’s creolizing sacred healthy invitation,
multicultures of and for Earth gratitude,
is Second Constitution’s colonizing,
and King James Bible-rooted,
EnLightenment Intent,
away from monotheistic totalitarianism of Royal Rulership
in favor of polyphonic truths of grace
in democratically evolving cooperative trust,

Father of ego’s Hope,
Son of Earth’s Great Transitional Faith in MultiCulturing Grace,
Spirit of (0)Tao Primal Relationship
humane/divine
through ReStorative EgoPeace
within Sacred EcoJustice
as nature-spirit mentored
by MotherEarth.

So, now I bow
in Taoist-Christian gratitude
for these our gifts
and invite our minds and hearts
to speak through One Grace Way,
bicameral Truth,
bilateral times in loving Life
restoring Eden’s global ReGenesis.

When I was a fundamentalist egocentric child,
I listened and spoke as an innocent child asking Why?
When we ecopolitically mature into One Body of Bodhisattva-Christ,
we speak polypathically
and dream polyphonically
to ask Why Not?

In Jesus’ eternally transubstantiating Name
and Word
and Way
and Truth
and Timeless Life,
Your Brother Gerald,
inviting our most generous 2020 responses
of and for mutual democratic trust
in divinely generous truths
we all can share on Earth
as in Eden’s Heavenly Promise.

Dearest Brother Jerry.

Regarding our current government,
This has been a nation of laws
Based on recognizing the Creator God
Has given its citizens, that support its laws,
Basic freedoms, rights and privileges

I used my right to vote for Donald Trump.
I prayed that God would allow him to rule our nation.
And while driving across our county on Election Day
I was amazed at the people standing out on the street corners
And hanging homemade banners from bridges
Stating their support for Trump.
And listening to public radio commentators
Debating how they missed the Trump vote
Because they were all taught Ivy League philosophy
On how people should live and think as world citizens,
Which obviously is not the voter’s truth.

Our current President, to my knowledge
Never held public elected office or governmental position.
He formed a team of people with integrity and dismisses any
That do not hold to the requirements of our laws.
After a year in office, our President has
Shown strong national and world leadership
In our form of democracy,
Which educated societies are attempting
To gain in their more aristocratic countries.
He is not perfect; I do not prefer his communication style.
But he has gained the world’s attention and only one
World leader is currently publically threatening him.

By comparison our Past President was an experienced
Elected state and national official and an excellent public speaker.
My concern with him was that neither I, nor the world’s leaders,
Believed what he said because he did not follow through.
He was always seeking peace at any price.
He did not show strong support for our law enforcement and military.
And of great personal concern was his practice of
Worshiping with the followers of Mohammed,
Who have a significantly different moral code
And law than that which Jesus Christ taught
And which the founders of our nation generally held.

With my love for you for eternity,

Mike Dillenbeck

My dear Siblings,

I voted for Hillary.
I would have preferred Bernie,
but she agreed to much of his platform-especially universal health care and education and seemed to be cognizant of environmental/climate change issues and bonus–she’s a woman!

How I feel now? I am still haunted by the sound of my millennial son as he stood in the shower the morning after the election,
sobbing,
grief stricken,
mourning the loss of freedom and safety for many of his friends of different races,
nationalities,
sexual identities
and religions.
I am both immensely proud of him and fear for him
when I remember him coming out of the bathroom after that gut wrenching and utterly hopeless outpouring of tears.
He wore the look of a young man going off to war
and declared his allegiance and his personal protection to all those now named targets of hatred.

I’m not sure that I would have the courage to be a millennial now.

I recently watched about 20 snapping turtle hatchlings emerge, one by one, from a small hole in the sand bank above the pond and embark on a hilarious topsy-turvey tumble down the embankment and disappear into the dark stillness under the lush green vegetation of the shallow water.

Along the way some of them appeared to die.
At one point, the lifeless forms were starting to pile up near the exit hole of the nest and I feared for those still waiting for their turn to feel the sunlight on their faces.

What amazed me was to see how these little creatures responded to each other.
One would walk right over the top or lightly brush up against the side of an apparently dead sibling
and suddenly they were moving along together.
I imagined one saying to the other,
“Come on. You can do it. Don’t stop now.”
or maybe “I’ll race you”,
like I used to say to Jeremy when I wanted him to move faster.

I was relieved and very satisfied when the last one slipped into the pond;
a proud midwife.

I can only hope that the extreme disregard for the Earth and all her creatures,
including human beings,
that is spewing out of our political system and corporations
will incite all of us to a new way of being;
to getting everybody to the pond.

Lovingly,
Kerry

Red and Blue Estrangered Families

Dear Siblings Three,

I was reading a story
in which some siblings became estranged
after their parents died,
while others moved toward greater solidarity.

This is a variation on a diaspora story.
But, here growing physical distance
is seen more as a geographic effect
than a political cause
of growing estrangement on one side,
and solidarity on the other.

Emigration out toward others of like faith systems
and re-immigration of siblings back toward each other,
circling our tribal wagons,
for now it is our turn
for that Great Transition
into mere grandparent mortality,
to go out toward this night better informed together
than estranged alone.

I thought of how true this is for me,
with my three siblings;
an older brother Mike
an sister Connie
from whom I feel estranged,
and a younger sister Kerry
whose mind and heart,
spirit and nature,
have always been
and yet still become
as one.

If I used speed dial
on my smart phone,
Kerry would be first on my contacts list.
My husband would be a distant second.

By contrast,
if Mike or Connie ever called,
my screen would only show
Michigan or Texas
because I have never put them in my contacts list.

That is how I define estranged
as contrasted with
solidarity.

Why we are as we are
we have never discussed.
And I wonder if I will regret this
should any one of you fade back into MotherEarth
before I do.

I suppose this sibling divide
may have to do with competing faith systems
rather than exploring cooperative,
and mutually appreciative,
multiculturing faith systems.

But I have no idea whether Connie or Mike would agree
with this hypothesis of prime cause,
or might include this
in a larger bag of history and enculturation
I have not thought of,
or perhaps have not yet learned to see.

So,
when I was compiling a list of Republicans I know
well enough to ask who they voted for
in our most recent Presidential selection,
and how are we feeling now
about those choices,
two of the four people I could imagine asking,
and yet not without some fear and trepidation,
are my own estranged Mike and Connie.

This leaves me wondering
how we will grow healthier as Earth’s
#1 consumer of fossil-based dwindling energy
and #1 producer of global climate pathologies, per capita,
if we don’t even talk about this
as families estranged from each other’s faith systems
yet sharing one national,
and preferably civil,
citizenship.

Faith systems, if they are about good faith,
should produce our own lives of growing integrity
and faith in healthy futures
for our children and grandchildren.

So it is, I am asking
Mike and Connie, but also Kerry,

Who did you vote for President last year,
or who would you have voted for,
in case you didn’t bother?
And how are you thinking/feeling
about that preference now,
approaching one year later?

I’ll start,
and invite each of you to respond in kind,
rather than writing in response to my story,
or to each other’s.
We can get to compare and contrast later,
as a second stage in a national dialogue,
if we each survive this familial first.

I would have voted for Hillary
if I had found the new polling place
before it so rudely closed,
right after I finally wrestled Ivy into bed.

During both the Obama and Clinton administrations,
Hillary was the primary architect,
or at least one of just two or three,
of diverse attempts to actually pass what would ideally have become
universal health care legislation
through a typically constipated bicameral Congress.

It also seemed to me that she extends her economic
and political investments
in health care
and receiving
to environmental health care
and receiving
issues,
concerns,
and ecological opportunities
to explore WinWin bicameral solutions
for both Republican conservators
in defense of humane physical,
and mental,
and spiritual health;
and Democratic libertines of equal health and thrival opportunities
of and for all species.

I erroneously thought the Republican candidate
was unlikely to win
because he ran against all of the above,
so at least the large majority of women voters,
traditionally strong on family and community health care issues,
would find Donald to be anathema,
both ecologically
and sacredly.

So, how I am feeling now,
as a Blue Connecticut State resident,
is angry,
and terrified
that what was Presidential campaign promised
continues to be my nightmares of cosmological disaster and threat,
and therefore compelled to do everything I can
to facilitate all of us
learning as much from this economic and ecological and political mistake
as possible,
as quickly as possible,
seeking 2020 critical certainty
before 2020 reaches its ultimate November selection.

We are a two BlueState,
two RedState family,
although Michigan is more ambiguous,
I doubt Mike’s Michigan Republican experience
is peculiarly ambiguous.

If we can talk about this
in a mutually appreciative way,
with gratitude for this opportunity
which can only last through all four lifelines,
perhaps we can help set a more harmonic bicameral tone
for and with our other increasingly estranged States,
and families.
