Grace and Pathology

I hope it would not be a parody of Michael Morrell’s political scientific position
to suggest all relationships are political
and all political relationships fall somewhere on a spectrum
between perfect co-empathic trust,
nutritionally and regeneratively favored by creolizing democracy,
and completely mutual distrust, antipathy,
a rabidly nihilistic strain
of totalitarian ballistic terrorism.

Should this spectrum amply describe tensions between democratic multiculturing trust
and plutocratically elitist monoculturing mistrust
then perhaps we can also see this spectral tension
between positive-regenerate social-psychology
and negative-degenerating entropic nihilism;
between cooperativity of Both/And empathic feeling and faith
and competing Either/Or antipathy
hardened reductively negative belief systems
with absence of good and healthy faith.

We might further stretch this same relational spectrum
to include hope and faith and love
as growing stages of healthy positive psychology,
so despair, and selfish faithlessness,
and raging sociopathic hatred
are parallel emerging stages
of pathologically negative anthropocentric
and egocentric
ecopolitics.

Within this wide egocentric Yang and eco-centric Yin spectrum
we learn and grow and develop our positive and negative psychology,
our health and our pathology,
as regenerative trends and our degenerative decompositional losses
into mutual immunity silos of autonomous self and other hatred;
historically characteristic of densely swarming over-populations,
beyond what Earth can ecosystemically hold and feed and enrich.

In this light and dark nondual co-arising view,
I read Dale B Martin’s understanding of how he can both be a person of Christian faith
and a student of religious and theological dark histories.

“It may well be that I have [positive psychology] faith
just because I was raised that way.
Having grown up in a religious [regenerative-normed] family,
itself the [bilateral-maternal and paternal] product of generations
of Christian people,
I may be psychologically inclined
or [co-empathic trust] habituated
to assume some ultimate [balancing] meaningfulness
of the [yang-yin nondual] universe
and the [healthy] centrality of [ecopolitical] faith for life
[rather than nihilistic despair].”

“Moreover,
my family
though attending a very conservative [homophobic] church,
was generally liberal and [inclusively] progressive.
We weren’t particularly bothered if others did not go to church
or went to a different church
[or adhered to a different positive faith system].”

Professor Martin is a brilliant “out” gay white Texas-reared male
now tenured at Yale.
Because of his family’s progressive co-empathic trust,
his parents quickly acclimated their love,
with a heterosexual-norm presumption,
to love for their gay son,
just another creative stretch of their inclusive and always yet-emerging
positive health psychology.

The primary difference between Dale Martin’s Texas experience
and my own rural Michigan experience,
was my absence of a liberal/progressive parental support system
restraining and creolizing the pathological hubris of elitist-supremacist
“from above” messianic grace
rather than “from deep within” co-empathically trusting grace
and karma.

With that difference,
Dale Martin’s positive Christian psychology has been continuous
throughout his still emerging family tree extension
to include the treasures of other regenerative traditions,
while my own journey has been more discontinuous and disjointed,
stressed and stretching
to ultimately arrive at peace with eco-messianic trust
in regenerative MotherEarth,
compatible with co-redemptive messianism,
in a lavishly creolizing composting transubstantiatingly inclusive way,
fractured and reset
rather than organically whole over my lifetime of Christian rediscovery,
as is the more continuously regenerative faith system
of Professor Martin’s still-emerging grace story.

A New MultiCulturing Dawn

Theoretical abstractions,
reductive hard word choices,
to describe and prescribe spiritual experiences
are unsatisfactory for daily consumption and absorption
as they reify exceptions to your Business As Usual,
which is probably LeftBrain patriarchally dominant.

Exceptional Left-Right bicameral ego/eco-consciousness,
of natureLeft-spiritRight nondual co-arising experience,
erupts from the creolizing soil
of your diurnal polypathic
ergodically liturgical
energy is information
as fake nothing-new entropy is disinformation
as regenerativity is notnot degenerativity
hum-drum cooperatively polypathic days and nights.

This implies that regenerative ethology,
exploring your eisegetical experience of nature-spirit’s nondual purposes,
within as without,
is a Left-Right
co-empirical deductive/inductive
health science.

With polycultural and multicultural outcome intent,
we invite both Left-deductive empiricism
and Right-inductive Personal Knowledge,
a tacit, more than explicit, dimension
(see also M Polanyi and D Bohm and E De Bono and J Jaynes)
as comprehensively balancing co-arising knowledge
(see also B Fuller on distinctions of ecological cooperative bilateral comprehension
as therapeutically contrasted against
merely ego-anthro-centrically deductive word-choice competitions
of EitherOr oppositions,
where BothAnd appositions
serve more synergetically WinWin healthy-well).

If we believe,
perhaps with our Buddhist nondual co-arising friends,
that the ego mind can become an empty-blank slate,
this is merely the exceptional pause to remember
the interdependent polypathic construction
of all specific knowledge,
including foreknowledge,
content and contentment,
as opposed to more LeftBrain dominant
cognitive-affective clouding dissonance.
When Earth is EmptyLeft
the Universe appears Interdependent-Cooperative inductive Right.

Other EitherOr dichotomies
therapeutically best also comprehended
as BothAnd co-arising dipolar appositions:

Erotic-natural and Agapic regenerative ecopolitical nurturing
biosystemic sensory-neural rootedness,
of fractal/developmental/dialectical-DNA and RNA, for example.

Deductive LeftBrain languaged knowledge
seeking Inductive RightBrain revelations
of ecopolitically cooperative revolutions.

Theoretical deductive-reductive abstractions of rationalism
redrawn and remembered from experiential-affective ElderRight
ecological learning
distinctions between regenerative long-term
and degenerative short-term re-acclimations
of Bateson’s Sacred Ecology,
nightmare to daydream daily cooperative adaptations,
creolizing nutritional supersessions
from enslavement to LeftBrain dominance only
to full-free multiculturing liberty
to dance with Left-Right Bodhisattva Messianic PeaceMakers.

Nature’s LeftBrain Yang-strengths
optimizing while nurturing RightBrain’s Yin-flow.

Anthrocentric competitive Yang-LeftBrain paid-out-forward messianism
and WinWin pregnant co-arising
EarthMatriarchal YinSquared-Fractal c-squared, e-squared
MultiCultural CoEnlightenment

with temporal-bilateral linear Eulerian-squared
prime metaphysical relationship).

So nature and sexuality and ecotherapeutic messianism
do all fit together
to include our humane-divine full bilateral spectrum
of homo through hetero sexuality,
with bi and transexuality somewhere in-between,
Tipping Points
to help the rest of us
heal ourselves of unseemly Yang-dominant bias,
where homo means anti-hetero
and hetero devolves into anti-homo,
and white means anti-black
and black means anti-white,
and North means anti-South
and South means anti-North,
and Western Capitalism means anti Eastern Cooperativism
and Eastern Nondual Cooperativism (Taoism-Buddhism, etc.)
means possibly also Western Creolizing EcoCapitalistic InterRelationalism.

One is naturally a man
or woman
or someone multiculturally in-between,
reminding us
there are many healthier ways to become a bicameral polypathic man,
as accessible as a therapeutic daydream
comprehending this new diurnal dawn.

Follow Earth’s Authoritative Light

Borrowing from David Holmgren, Permaculture Principles and Pathways Beyond [Win-Elite v Lose-NonElite] Sustainability, 2002, p. 1

Health ethics are Beloved Community normative principles
used to guide action toward good and light and right outcomes
and away from degeneratively bad and wrong outcomes,
darkly ego-pathic and monoculturing
rather than polypathically polyculturing.

Regenerative ethics constrain Ego’s Win/Lose (Either/Or) survival instincts
and other ecopolitical constructs of self-interest
competitively driving humane-enspirited-enlightening BothAnd behavior.

Enculturing ecosystemic ethics
evolve mechanisms for growing and extending co-enlightening self-interest,
a more ego/eco bilateral-centered inclusive view
of who and what constitutes “ego-plus-light/dark environment”
evolving a longer-term regenerative/degenerative understanding
of WinWin-good and LoseLose-bad monoculturing outcomes.

The greater the polypathically authoritative power of humane-divine civilization
(due to information/energy equitable accessibility and ownership)
and the greater our concentration and scale of ecosystemic light-power
within our ecopolitical praxis,
the more prescriptively critical ethics become
for ensuring long-term Beloved Community cultural,
and biological,
short-term survival through long-term light-authority thrival.

This ecological view of enculturing ethics
evolves regeneratively central
through the nutritional v toxic development of a post-millennial culture
in, of, and for post-mature climax of paid-out-forward
eco-messianic
energy descent
without concomitant authoritative creolizing
ecologically composting
nutritional health-information descent.

Like polyculturing descriptive design principles,
cooperative pay-forward co-investment ethical principles
follow three broad enlightening (v endarkening) maxims
or ecologically polypathic principles:

1. Care of/for Earth; includes, but is not limited to
2. Care of/for people; includes, but is not exclusive of
3. Carefully set authority/responsibility maturing balance limits
to ego’s authoritative light consumption
as double-binding eco-other reproductive responsibiity
and eco-redemptive
cooperative
co-investing
redistributing surplus of light-nutrition;
also decelerating degenerative dark-toxic waste.

Health-wealth cooperative principles distill research of and for Beloved Community polyculturing ethics,
as adopted and creole-adapted by older nature-spirit nondual religious
and polypathically multiculturing cooperative groups.

The third principle
embryonically evolves out of the second principle
embryonically evolving out of the first principles of polypathic ecological Earth.

Luke (the HealthProfessional) 11:33-34

The lamp of the body is the eye.
If therefore your eye is polypathically healthy,
your whole body is illuminated;
but if your eye is pathologically ego-supremacist,
your whole body will be dark
[closed off to The Perfect Light, see also Rumi on nature-spirit light v dark].
If therefore the light in you is darkness,
how [monoculturally] great is that darkness!

These verses are about the importance of [light/dark] perception;
we may say even [healthy] attitude.

If my faculty of observation,
whether of the world,
of other things,
of other people,
of one’s own situation
is bad or unhealthy,
I will myself be in a bad, unhealthy state.
Having good [polypathically mature] perception is necessary for having [and regeneratively retaining] good internal health.
This is not, therefore, just a statement of [descriptive] fact,
though it is that;
it is given as a moral [prescriptive] lesson:
we ourselves are morally responsible for how we perceive things
[light ecologically and dark ego-pathology].
Jesus is telling us to train our eyes to see [ego/eco-conscious enlightened] well,
not badly, not in an evil way.

But this also means we are not destined to only one way of seeing.
We can [re]learn to see [cooperative light v overly-competitive dark] properly.
We can train our eyes to see in a [humane-]godly and [active] loving manner.
And in fact, we [ecologically] have to [descriptively and prescriptively].
Seeing properly–
[humane-]godly [co-operative creolizing] perception,
correct [nondual co-arising light/dark] seeing–
is a learned and practiced [sensory-neural] skill….

Seeing the world around us in a positive [light and negative-dark],
accurate [polypathic ecological] way is a moral,
personal,
and social [ecopolitical authority with concomitant] responsibility
(naive optimism that denies the [deauthorizing reverse-authenticating ecopolitically dark competing] facts is no virtue either).

Thus, though [merely personal creolic ecological acclimation] empiricism cannot be an absolutely [exegetical] reliable means to [polypathically] correct knowledge,
we must learn to use it and use [enlightening authority and mutual endarkening responsibility] it well,
even [especially] when doing theology
[and teleology,
and ethology,
and economic and political regenerative purpose,
and meaning of humane-godly lives and deaths].
