Dear Sue

Dear Sue,

I am remembering our strong negative responses
to the young woman who surreptitiously read
her aunt’s very private diary,
filled with vulnerable statements
of the most intimate nature
and transparently lusty spirit,

Yet, though secretive,
then took a bold black marker
and wrote vulgar, poisonous words
on most every previously locked and hidden page,

And yet, even here
she used her own judgmental inside voices
but wrote in her younger innocent brother’s hand.

We both found her choices highly distressing;
difficult to even read, imagine
squeamish to hear from a young niece perpetrator
or an old aunt victim.

I wonder if this is because we can empathize with both
the obstreperous and egocentric young, disturbed
with adult hidden and disruptively vulnerable agendas,
rebellions,
sometimes hedonistic
sometimes narcissistic,
usually both, back and forth
like yang then yin,
patriarchal power lust, then matriarchal depression
in response to chronic economic and political repression.

Do these actions,
intimate hidden self-disclosures
followed by a too yangishly adolescent monoculture’s mocking inspiration,
venomous uncaring,
toxically rapacious expressions,
aggressive actions and word choices,
with fully uncensored malicious intent,
speak to deep listening
yet camouflaged through deflection,
distraction,
political sleight of hand,
giving off responsibility to some,
most any, Other
our own wounded skeletons of silent memory?

Powers brought to a very exclusive co-arising table of one,
acting as a duplicitous two,
bipolar in passive-aggressive
depressive-manic responses
to surprising disclosures
of older, respected, staid hidden agendas
written by those we have truly loved
and hoped to continue loving
without remainder, reserve,
without this unexpected erupting hidden agenda
to protect ourselves from what feels creepy
too manic or paranoid,
smelling of hidden conspiracies
to express attraction
in ways deviant from our own proper expectations
for our own,
and Other’s, therapeutic integral behavior.

I thought of that wicked niece,
and our responses to her perfidy,
after a dream last night
in which Donald Trump
was writing curse words
with a bold black marker
in his dominant RightWing hand
all over his concrete wall

And then all over the original Jeffersonian Declaration
of Interdependence
away from white narcissistic,
patriarchal,
unenlightened royal privilege

And then Sorcerer’s Apprentice Trump
ruthlessly
blackly wrote dirty jingoisms on,
stabbing at,
our original Adams and Jeffersonian
compromised democratic constitution

Written with compassionate radical trust intention
trying to declare all creatures,
slave and free,
enlightened plants and planet,
equal in everyday enchanting dignity,
assuming great prosperity benefits of polycultural cooperative economies
internationally fertile,
valid,
effective for well-being
of all the people,
plants,
planet,

Still to this Trumpian day falling politically short,
still awaiting fulfillment
by those who can read and write more skillfully,
non-violently
less passive-aggressively,
less conspiratorially
less toxically enraged by WinLose multicultural losses
across the pages of our transparently democratic
yet divine
intent.

Anyway,
it seems we recognize this aversion to hidden narcissism
through empathy, cooperatively empassioned
in each other as a polypathic strength
strongly shared.

Thank you for speaking in solidarity
for a healthier, effluent ecofeminist affluent flow power
as we read across the pages of our own hopeful history books,

Still holding old school faith
found in each other’s passioned eyes and ears
and relentless spiritual-natural senses
of positive and negative and double-negative humors,
tumors benign and cancerous
rumors of magical queendoms
at our open liberal loving left hand,

Where agendas may be hidden
but not from shame or blame weapons
so much as reserved for our own tool-shaping pleasure
to disclose when and as we choose
and as our gifts for compassionate co-empathy
are most multiculturally needed,
exercised,
stretched toward optimally resonant
resilience for all people,
young nieces and old aunts certainly included,
and MotherTrees
and humbler passioned plants
and MotherLanded planet.

Green Body of Christ

When I was a child
my evangelical family
went to People’s CoOperative Bible Church,
to rapturously pray and praise our privileged preachy partialness,
political and economic and social and environmental,
spiritual against physical apartheid
of superior, divinely-inspired, theology,

Yet, somehow rooted in mission-driven competitions
against the fullness of non-sectarian time
sufficient to bring inclusive nutrients,
liquid and capital-hoarded assets for future rainy
blizzard blustering
dominant days,
at least six per week
severed from Sabbath’s cooperatively wondrous Kingdom
at open-systemic nurturing hand,

Celebrated by declaring our victorious Communion
on God’s glorious not capital-driven work on Sunday
seated in humble chairs of classroom youth,
eventually wooden pews of adult authority
in our small
segregated
AllWhite People’s Sectarian Bible Church.

I recall not even one Sunday School lesson
about what the Holy Historical Body of Christ
might have to do with our potential
Green MultiCulturing Spirit of Healing Christianity,

Nothing about tensions between communion
and monocultural supremacist apartheid,

Nothing about walls between WinWin healthy sacred interdependence
and WinLose stringent secular autonomy of capitalism,

Nothing about Great NonTransitional Divides
between cooperative passions and competitive dispassions,
between Heavenly to-gatherness
and too much Earthly apartness,
between celebration of health
and holocaust of anthro-centric pathology.

Maybe I missed that non-violence teaching Sunday,
But I did not miss experiential theology lessons
of tensions between heterosexual patriarchal monocultural evangelism
and Heaven’s vast radically inclusive promise
of a polycultural
non-apartheid
eternal communioned outcome for Earth-dwellers,
especially for child-like peacemakers,
Holy Spirit inheritors,
regenerators,
co-messiahs within this one secular/sacred Body of Christ.

Active hope for such enchanting holistic bodies
and spirits of vulnerable and transparently loving Messianic Missions,
in the West,
and Bodhisattva PeaceWarriors,
in the East,
felt, even then, as a child,
like emotionally interdependent
enchanting intelligence.

Perhaps,
if we could all arrive in everyday Sabbath Heaven,
in absence of six-day capital over-invested apartheid,
we might discern warmer inviting Lights
are also Truths
and communioned Ways
to sing God’s/Gaia’s EarthBound greening praise

As when we first began
in Planet’s CoOperative Bible Church.

Through Thick and Thin

I think it might be John Rawls
who writes about
thick and thin justice sandwiches.

Thick justice
may be more deeply embedded, richly spread
in regenerative pursuing time,
producing and serving healthy wealth relationships,
often digestively motivated
to achieve nutritional communion goals,

While thinner justice
lies closer to today’s contemporary bread
of legalistic compliance issues,
what minimally defines a reductive
democratic
barely legal sandwich,

Avoiding lusts and greedy aggression of privileged political evangelists
yet lacking robust internal absorption
of richer ethical behavior,
proper interdependent moral discipline
rooted in normative co-operativity
and not impatient competitions for more sectarian power
for, and marketed by,
those who already have too much well-fed apartness authority
to retributively enforce laws
against consumers of too much thin privatized poverty
to serve the already privileged evangelists first and better,

Too thin justice not even intended to be fair
to those who have inferior capital wealth
and are legally treated as if we are also least
among emotional intelligence.

As a gay male child
of the 50s and 60s
in white privileged North America,
I know something about this apartheid
of power and authority to choose
between popular wealthy disciplines
of punishing deviance laws
as thinly contrasted against robust ethical discernment
of multiculturally embedded deep and wide and thick inclusive listening,
polypathic learning through Left deductive legal
and Right inductive moral
co-intelligence

Restoring communication bridges between thinning out procedures,
policies
propriety,
and deeper, thicker, more robust ethical justice
informed by a positively compassionate psychology
encouraging us to follow our nutritional bilateral Light,

A thick polypathic Light
for some thin from-above theistic, producing sacred v secular apartness,
for others a-theistic, polyculturing internal communion,
for a few, Tipping Pointed toward narrow truth-ways
of polyphonic ringing Words
producing EarthJustice Rights,

Some fertile combination of these severed two
thin through thick sandwiches,
spiritual-theological intent
and natural-ecological means,
like organic peanut butter liberally spread
with unsweetened red raspberry conservations,
communing toward resilient
restorative
thickly thought and felt justice intelligence.

Which precludes confusing undisciplined narcissistic injustice
with legal democratic constitutional practices
preserving communal peace-mongering truth processes
economic and political,
ecological and theologically mutual correcting intelligence
reaching back to earliest nutritional seeds
of robust digestive discernment resources
for distinguishing impoverishing thin threats
from robust wellness opportunities
for better
richer
communal sandwiches,

Healthier servings of LeftEmbodied legal disciplines
avoiding seeds and roots of violent apartheid hoarding
and sectarian privileged intelligence intent,

Instead, making love with RightMind deep digested
polypathic intelligence
polynomially deep listening
for legal/moral learning
impatient Yang’s autonomous conservative tendencies
to overpower matriarchal cooperative thick communion
feeding Yin’s more robust nutritional compassion.

These two binomial appositionals,
justice thin and not injustice thick
co-arise discovered bridges
between what is communion healthy sufficient justice
and what are wealthy WinWin Right emotional intelligence
to non-violently do,
to peacefully say,
to justly become,
to cooperatively be,
to restore just climate non-apartheid health resources
internally buttered
and externally breaded.

is also to listen for RightMind discerning recessed voices
remembering optimal WinWin nutritional past events,
experiences as deep and wide sandwiched
as polypathic DNA just intelligence,
spreading strings of nurturing
warm wet wombed

Breathing compassionate nutrition in,

Educational Competitions:
“You/We are not motivated to learn
how to take care of yourself/ourselves.”

And,
We are, together, motivated to learn
how to give and receive
personal and social,
political and economic,
theological and ecological health care,

unitarian motivated and discerned.

Competition for resources:
“We can’t change because we are too poor,
have too little health to thrive,
too few nutritional, nurturing resources.”

And,
Together, with explicit therapeutic intent,
we are change,
we are healthy resources
sufficient for this day,
healing processors for this
and each experienced co-operating
co-arising moment.

Universally commodified competition:
“One size fits all, no exceptions.”

And,
Our cooperative health intent and size
flexes to fit our potential therapeutic scale
of authoritative just operations
today,
universally right now.

Competition for power/authority:
“Our aggressive legalistic
and capital-commodified system
is too big to fail,
or even change directions.”

And,
Our eco/theo-logical systems
are just ripe enough opportunity
for WinWin co-operative
healthy
co-passionate
empowering networks
evolving polypathic paradigms
to never stop regeneratively changing,
evolving,
pre-volving,
un-volving,
revolving co-passion,
co-arising gravitation.

Competition for health, resilience, resonance:
“Neglect of health care can’t be fixed.”

And,
Health care can become unfixed and holistic
but best when co-operatively engaged,
discovered through receiving optimal authoritative co-investment
in responsible
proper
proportional
authentic
transparent
vulnerable
therapeutic
polypathic
polyphonic
polynomial optimally wealthy climate care,

Internal and external,
yin flow with yang strength,
matriarchal with patriarchal,
compassionately resonant discernment
with co-operative resilient discipline.

Wealthy unitarian ways
toward healthy universal means.

In Love and War

You’ve heard it said?
All’s fair in love and war!

Well,
most ethicists,
even war-mongering philosophers,
disagree with the “All’s fair in war” part,

As do just everyday Earth-patriotic folks
who loyally prefer not to be bombed
and automatically rifled
just because some crackpot(s)
in the nearest capital city plutocracy
decide to make war,
using our kids and tax dollars,
instead of love,
co-passion,
solidarity with Earth’s pro-life health.

All ethicists,
and folks who find compassion
to responsibly risk vulnerability
of a loving relationship,
disagree with the “All’s fair in love” side
of this unmindful equation.

Fairness, equity, of powers to freely say
Yes
or No
to another’s invitation into passion
is a prerequisite to sustainable love,
grace,
mutual integrity of thought and feeling,
regardless of how short- or long-term projected.

It would be more valid
and validating
to observe,
All is at risk in both love and war,
but, unlike violent acts of hate
and fear
and anger
and greed,
risks of love are often fairly balanced
with opportunities for growing healthy cooperative resilience
together,
and certainly not warring unfairly apart.

To Hug, Or Not To Hug

She is young
and proud
and crying with despair.

I want to give her a hug,
to share a mutual hug,
opposite of a hostile shrug
instead of caring with each other,
To cooperatively embrace
recommitted to responsible compassionate health care
giving
and receiving.

But,
I need to ask her permission first
to cross this physical and spiritual boundary
between older and younger,
male and female,
employer and employee,

To ask her if she would feel obligated
to take care of my need to reach out
and reassure her we are in this life together,

Or could she freely say,
Not right now?
Without guilt or concern that taking care of me
could or should be more important
than taking care of herself,
her wounded past,
her coping skills protecting self-esteem
against sometimes smothering needs of others
wanting to be fed,
especially authority figures
too often invested in Win/Lose games
rather than Win/Win compassionate therapies.

But,
now is not a proper time to ask,
When she is in emotional distress.
Could she freely receive or deny an invitation
to mutual embrace?
For reassurance we will not be broken by this,
and perhaps this is an opportunity to grow together,
mutually healed by solidarity,
co-passionate intent,
reassurance,
mutual access, physical and spiritual,
with cooperative boundaries yet to be responsibly explored
through more robust compassion.

Even so,
I wish I could be free to ask her
if we might share a co-redemptive hug
rather than lurking in the wings of this chronic crisis stage
with only her tears
and my box of tissues
to speak how much we care
for a better tomorrow
together
rather than continuing too defensively apart.
