Gaia’s Humane Rights to/for/of Healthy Climates

In 1968,
a time of great concern for healthy human civil rights
for and of women as well as LeftBrain culturally dominant men,
Gregory Bateson invited a Symposium
not quite a finished Symphony
proposing Moral and Aesthetic Structure of Human [Climate] Adaptation.

He closed his invitation to show up as follows
[with my own updating Earth Climate Rights commentary in brackets]:

We have perhaps what Sir Geoffrey Vickers has called
an ‘ecology of ideas.’
[a health v pathology ecology,
climates of and for ideas,
learning and unlearning climates for therapeutic adaptive/maladaptive purposes].

If it be true that certain people are specially gifted
in the [polypathic multicultural] art of acting upon complex [eco]systems
with [empathic trust/mistrust balancing] homeostatic
or ecological
characteristics,
and that these people do not [co]operate
by spelling out the interaction of all relevant [health/pathology] variables,
then these people must use some inner [health of] ecology
of ideas as an [ecosystemic] analogic model.
(By ‘ideas’ I mean thoughts, premises, affects,
[feelings, attendance, listening, relational, empathies]
perceptions of self, etc.)

But if this [empathic trust/mistrust] skill is, in some sense,
really an art [of ego/eco-listening]
then it is possible that the inner ‘ecology of ideas’ is a close synonym
of what might also be called aesthetic [affective-cognitive] sensibility [and dissonance].

These notions suggest, finally, that there may be another approach
to the problems of a Theory of
[Therapeutic EarthRights-HumaneRights] Action.

As I write this, on November 5, 1968, the nation is voting to choose a President
and the voters are faced by alternative candidates–
none of whom even claims to have either [ecological] aesthetic
or [ecopolitical] biological insight
into the [empathic healthy trust] affairs of a large [cooperative] nation.

Be that as it may,
I suggest that before we proceed to a consideration of theories of [therapeutic] action,
we should devote some time to the question of aesthetic [ecosystemically healthy-wealth] determinism [favoring power-with over power-over resolutions]
for the following reasons:

a. It is conceivable that there is a whole other order of determinative [health/pathology] factors,
to ignore which would be as fatal as to ignore the homeostatic [co-empathic trust/mistrust] aspect of biological [nutritional-digestive] systems.

b. It is possible that the aesthetic [truth-as-beauty, symmetry, affinitive proportion] approach,
with its special emphasis upon [natural] patterns
and the [emergent] modulation of [ecotherapeutic] patterns,
may be a natural development out of mem-theory
and 0-graphs [fractal, 4D binary bilateral metric information prime empty-climate, vacuum of nutritional information, ‘wallpaper’ or dialectally folding/unfolding landscape group/game theory reiterative-revolving systemic]

c. It is possible that the [co-empathic] aesthetic is in some [bicameral] way
closely related to
or [and] derivative from the cybernetic [genetic-binary, reiteratively double-bind bilateral balancing tree-root nutritional health structure].

d. It is possible that the aesthetic approach may provide short cuts to the [deductive-only] evaluation
and [Left v RightBrain] criticism of plans for [therapeutic] action.

e. It is possible that [basic] aesthetic [empathic trust] perception may be characteristic of [ecologically healthy bicameral-balancing] human beings,
so that action plans which ignore this characteristic
of [Left-Right equivalent] human perception
are unlikely to be [power-with, cooperatively, struggling with as not against] adopted,
and even unlikely to be [cooperatively] practicable
[because not supported by ecopolitical social-cultural dominant structures
despite evolutionary history
as ethological witness to mindbodies of and for health regeneration].

f. It is possible that aesthetic computation and aesthetic creativity are subject to pathological disturbance [mindbody illness]
Certainly creative and artistic processes are in part determined by epoch
and [Left and/or RightBrain dominance and/or equivalent] cultural milieu [climate].
It is likely therefore
that pathologies of culture will produce [ecopolitical] pathologies
of [ugly, terrifying, vacuous, nihilistic] aesthetic perception
and [reductive, seductive iconic] monsters of [mistrusting and ambiguous] aesthetic creation.

g. But, conversely, if the aesthetically [oppositional bipolar either-or Left v appositionally dipolar both-and Right] monstrous
be symptomatic of cultural [ecopolitical climate] pathology,
then we have to remember that in all such [sacred ecosystemic] cases,
the symptom is the [pathology] system’s attempt to cure itself [ourselves].
The creation of the appropriate [evil-reverses-live, terrorist, abusive, neglectful] monstrosities might therefore be a component in corrective [purgative] action.
It is possible that some contemporary [subclimates for nutritional landscape optimization permacultural] artists
are actually doing [multiculturally inclusive healthy] things
which we in our conference hope to plan to do
[both economically and politically re-acclimative volution].

For these and related reasons,
I think that we should take a good look at the [climatic] problems
of [empathic trust/mistrust] aesthetics
before we go on to the [ecological] problems of [therapeutic climate] action.

we continue to engage our Left-Right bicameral mindbody balancing
equivalent powers within ecological ethics
and ecosystemic aesthetics
felt and learned and exegeted
through our ecopolitically cooperative therapeutic choices

Bateson’s Sacred Interdependent Unity: ReConsilience of Healthy MindBody Systems

In 1968,

while college campuses were burning ROTC buildings,

when the Beatles were finishing their initial invasion on a peace-loving multiculture,

Gregory Bateson reconvened his colleagues

to reconsider the Moral and Aesthetic Structure of Human Adaptation,

with these words,

as later published in Sacred Unity: Further Steps to an Ecology of Mind, pp. 253-257:

 

[with post-millennial ‘both-and’ upgrades in brackets,

to indicate how Bateson might further embellish 48 years later,

in today’s urgent ecopolitical climate]

By the word ‘moral’ [health] and the words ‘human [climate] adaptation,’ I intend to indicate that this conference is a continuation of last year’s conference on the “Effects of [Health] Conscious Purpose on Human Adaptation.” At that meeting we reached consensus that certain sorts of shortsightedness which ignore the systemic [health] characteristics of man, human society, and the surrounding ecosystems are ‘bad’ when implemented by a powerful [powering over] technology. The word ‘immoral’ was not used for these deluded attempts to achieve human [peace with justice] purposes but, at least where the shortsightedness [Buddhist ‘ignorance’] is almost [anthropocentrically supremacist] willful, I see no reason to avoid the word.

It also became clear at the last conference that these immoralities form a [paradigmatically resonant/resolving climate] ‘class’ of cases such that practice in analyzing one [potential integrity as positive health] case will facilitate the understanding of others. It is not just a matter of learning to analyze all the relevant [sacred love] relationships and [positive with dipolar negative co-arising] variables whenever we set out to tamper with organisms: we can learn something about the characteristic interlocking of these [Basic Health Attendance moral] relationships—whether we describe the interlocking in cybernetic terms or by means of occurrence graphs.

In fact, hand in hand with the repetitiveness of [interdependent = notnot empty] relations in the undisturbed [eco]systems, there is a repetitiveness of the sorts of [dissonance as negative suffering potential for] immorality whereby these systems become [ecopolitically] corrupted and pathological. There is a general [double-negative binomial not-not pathology of interdependent irresolution, imbalanced tense, stress] structure of those mental [bicamerally un-reiterative stuck in ruminating] processes which would avoid such [RightBrain sacred immunity toward EmptyOnly ignorant] shortsightedness.

Our first conference dealt at considerable length with these matters but we said very little about what adaptive actions can be undertaken by man and still be [Left-health/Right-wealth] ‘moral,’ in the sense of not deteriorating the larger systems of which man [human bilateral-balancing nature] is a part.

I hope that in the coming conference we may work toward a consensus regarding the structure of such moral [health] planning and [aesthetically effective, fluid, resonant, grace-filled, sacred] action, including also some planning toward the correction of those popular false [LeftBrain too dominantly deductive language monopolistic ecopolitically competitive WinLose, EitherOr] premises which lead to harmful action.

What is lacking is a Theory of [Healthy Climate] Action within large complex [bicameral as binary binomial balanced polypathic] systems where the active agent is him[her]self a part of and a product of the [natural regenerative matriarchal=notnot patriarchal health-nurturing] system. Kant’s “Categorical Imperative” [secularized EmptySet Universal Closed Assumption] might provide a first step in this direction. It seems also that great teachers and therapists avoid all direct attempts to [power-over compete against and not with] influence the action of others and, instead, try to provide the [co-mentoring] settings or contexts in which some usually imperfectly specified) [therapeutic] change may occur [to recenter (0)-sum ecopolitical balancing network regenerative structure].

I think, however, that we are not yet surely ready to tackle this gigantic problem of  planned [moral health climate] intervention.

At the first conference I held the group back from problems of action for several reasons.

I believed that we had what the Bible calls “beams” [though still interdependent, however dissonant] in our own eyes [and ears, stomachs, guts, noses, mouths, skin, etc.]—distortions of perception so gross that to attempt to remove [pathologically dissonant] “motes” from the eyes of our fellow [wo]men would be both presumptuous and dangerous [LeftBrain monocultural male ego-competitive dominance]. After all, we, too, are creatures of a civilization which certainly since the Renaissance and possibly for a much longer time has cherished such irrational principles as reductionism [secularization of what was Interdependence-organic sacred], the conceptual division between [enspirited] mind and [naturally dynamic] body, and the belief that [economic wealth] ends justify [politically unhealthy] means. It was therefore probable that any plan of action which we might devise would itself be based upon these erroneous premises.

Indeed, the very errors that we would set out to correct, e.g., the cultural [climate] errors of reductionism and mind/body separation, are themselves buttressed by [monocultural supremacist] homeostatic [climate-health/pathology] mechanisms. We were in agreement that to try to alter any variable in a homoestatic [diastatically thriving-peaking monocultural eco]system without [urgent, climatic, critical, high-stressed] awareness of the supporting homoestasis [endosymbiotic evolution] must always be shortsighted and perhaps [playing god] immoral; and yet, we would boldly go out to attack epistemological errors which are deeply rooted in our [growing LeftBrain competitive global ecopolitical] culture and supported by complex vested interest in all branches of that [global ecopolitical anthrocentric] culture—in art, education, religion, commerce, science, and even in sport and international relations.

Moreover, there may be a whole order of  [ecologically regenerate] explanation and determinism that is still unexplored. It is surely not an accident that the alpha animal of the group is commonly the most beautiful, even to human eyes, and that it is this animal that is the most decorated with hair and the ‘dominance’ of the alpha animal determined and/or supported by aesthetic [rich, resonant, fertile, healthy, vigorous] determinants? For lack of a better term I am calling this aesthetic [therapeutic resilience, fluidity, grace] determinism [default preference toward health v. pathology; How is trust action and good intent predicted by healthy wealth of co-empathic beauty?].

It seems to me that, quite without an exhaustive analysis of the relevant cybernetic factors, some people are guided away from the courses of action which would generate ugliness—that there are people who have [positive deviant] ‘green thumbs’ in their dealing with other living systems. I am inclined to associate this phenomenon with some sort of aesthetic [health-wealth nondual optimizing] judgment, an awareness of criteria of elegance and of the combinations of  [healthy ecopolitical] process that will lead to [regenerate] elegance rather than [pathological] ugliness.

In our previous conference we were concerned with the [behavioral and verbal body-goodness health] moral aspect more than with the [mind beauty RightBrain proportional, non-languaged and intuitive] aesthetic. It may be that the latter is a totally separate [appositionally dipolar-reverse temporal] order of explanation, but I suspect that the two are closely related [political analogical v geometric biologic-languaged (0) sum=soul health regenerate] and that the difference between them is only a difference of [eco]logical type [way, frame, dialectal climate].  As I see it, moral judgment is concerned with discriminating and identifying [hierarchical frames, sets, ecologic systems, interdependently networking] classes of [organic synergetic shared-purpose identity-memory] cases; and this is especially true when the moral system is condensed into a [criminal v.] legal code [as ego-pathology v Earth health/wealth eco-climate]. The aesthetic, on the other hand, seems to be more intimately [interdependently cooperative, organically fertile] concerned with the relationships which obtain within each particular [bio/ecosystemic] case. In spite of many attempts, the rules of aesthetic [truth through beauty alone] judgment have never been satisfactorily condensed [although there is something to be said for combining Golden Rule with Golden Ratio and applying these nondually co-arising both space-here and time-now ego-opportunity/ecological risk].

It may be, however, that the dichotomy between [LeftBrain trust] moral and [RightBrain empathic notnot wu-wei cognitive/affective confluent] aesthetic is a by-product of the premise of [Right]mind/[Left-dominant]body division or of the similar division between [linguistic] consciousness and the [intuitive] remainder of mind. Certainly occidental people expect to be more aware of and more articulate about [Emptiness/Interdependence Balance] moral judgments than about aesthetic. We say, “de gustibus [digestible] non disputandum” as though the aesthetic were no suitable subject for [ecological and biological eisegetical] doubt or scientific [affect-effect-cause-reverse causal decompositional] analysis. And yet we agree that some people, more [healing] skilled in these [eco-feeling] matters than others, are able to contrive [nature-spirit dipolar memory] objects [icons] or [root] sounds which those others can agree are [naturally, humanely, divinely, sacredly] beautiful.

We know little of what makes some teachers, some political leaders, some gardeners, some psychotherapists, some animal trainers, and some aquarium keepers great [outstanding polypaths, transensory health/pathology attendant listeners and responders]. We say vaguely that these skills depend upon art [grace, co-empathic messianic-cooperative Self/Other absorption-digestion] rather than science [ecologically regenerative fertility of creative/deductive bilateral deep learning decompositioning skills]. Perhaps there is [bilaterally revolutionary] scientific truth behind this [climate of incommensurable yet equivocal] metaphor[ic health of legal/moral multiculturing health].

We know virtually nothing about the processes whereby a baseball pitcher computes his[her and Earth’s and Sun’s and Wind’s] action or whereby a cat estimates her jump [through emerging empty space] to catch a[n interdependent] mouse. But it is certain that these [ecological] computations are not done the way an engineer [mechanical] would do them; the cat and the pitcher do not use the differential calculus [although possibly appositional calculations].

Even, it would seem from Gertrude Hendrix’s paper last year that there is some sort of opposition between [LeftBrain dominant] verbal understanding and that more total and nonverbal understanding [of RightBrain mutual interdependent acclimation] which is necessary for transfer of learning [about ecological health of bilateral reiterative learning itself].

We also touched briefly last year on the notion that the conference group was, in some sense, its own [0-empty-set] ‘central metaphor’ [mandala, network]. That in our deliberations we were using the [sacred healing potentiated] group itself as a sort of analogic [ecologic] computer from which insights into [nature-spirit nondual] systemic [climate] process could be derived [deriving health-trends].

These considerations suggest that the cat and the baseball pitcher might achieve their miracles of precision by some similar [re-creation story-storied body memory]) using themselves as [(0) sum-soul ecopolitically natural] “central [Interdependent-Uniting OVER Empty-Universe] metaphors.” (What happens when the cat and the pitcher practice their skill?) [They become better fed health of notnot pathology equivalent.]

In sum, what is here suggested is that [LeftBrain reified] systemic shortsightedness, reductionism, the grosser forms of [Yang]body/[Yin spirit-only exegetically repressed]mind dichotomy, etc., may be mitigated or avoided by [balanced] mental processes in which the total [sacred] organism…is used [within an Earth-logical development regenerating network] as a [health/pathology] metaphor. Such mental processes will not probably follow the long and tedious path of computing all the relations between [interdependent] relevant variables but will use various [EmptySpaceTime climate] sorts of short cuts and best [quasi-resonant, quasi-resolving eisegetically aptic rather than synaptic exegetically well-worn BusinessAsUsual] guesses. But they will still reckon with the [WinWin v WinLose v LoseLose] fact that the [Earth’s fertile] ecosystem [climate] or [sacred nature-spirit learning to balance] society is alive [and continuing to evolve regenerative health trends and, sadly, sufferingly, negentropically pathological climate stress trends].

Creative Climates for Thinking Feeling Healthier

We are each a new way of bilateral becoming and thinking
about what a mind with body is,
where these are headed,
individually,
and as a part.

Thinking about what embodied consciousness is
and where,
in what stable climates of opportunity,
and which unstable subclimates of risk,
enculturing new ways of bilateral becoming
what our Earth’s mindbody ecosystem is,
and where,
in what universal temporal revolving seasonal climate of Earth,
enculturing timeless days of light and dark,
long before years of warm and cold
and planets sprouting ecosystemic networks
of open-interdependent ergodic universal climate,
binomial space with bilateral-functioning time emerging
each of our light’s ethological DNA/RNA emergent enriching string,
umbilical cord,
navel,
embryonic womb root system of form with nutritional function,
is yet incarnating
and from where,
from each of us co-arising balance without
dualdark co-gravitating within
dipolar prime relational
(0)-soul as sum,
as prime relational core climate CoMessianic-Tao.

Humanity’s place within this ecosystemically enculturing internal landscape
has become traditionally told
as one inter-networked mandala,
a sacred organic-fertile healthy-positive, deviantly revolutionary
regenerational landscape.
Stuff of and for and with and in Permacultural Design
through our DNA Holistic-Integral ReDevelopment.

We are still working out
how we have viralized victimization
and criminalization
and other negatively deviant deformations of socio-eco-political pathology,
like ignorance with prejudice,
hatred of Other with racism,
totalitarian egocentric megalomanic paranoia with terrorism,
anti-ecological intent with overly-competitive economic norms for and of Earth Nature/Spirit Justice,
ethological error with bad teleology concerning remaining issues
of (0)-sum ecopolitical health,
public health issues confusing humane sexuality and culture with self-slavery into indentured servitude of wealth
that does not rhyme with health.

We are still working on over-commodified norms about EarthTribe’s Commons,
the desecration of humane-divine dignity,
the desecration of our Earth Home,
for some a Gaia God/dess,
for others Prime Relational consort of FireGod’s dipolar co-arising radiant bliss,
producer of all Earth’s biosystemic nature-spirit organic species,
currently existing, yes,
but also emerged through root ecosystems of health-performing Elder ecopolitical health-wealth matriarchs and patricians,
native medicinals of earth and water,
fire radiating revolving cycling flames through therapeutic tunneling air.

Developmental intelligence refracted through RNA’s nature/spirit health-values
to process and remember,
reweaving time’s seasonal open-systemic
interdependently self-reflected light.

In bilateral thought
as in bicameral ecoconsciousness,
LeftBrain’s either/or bipolar oppositionals
learn to ego/ecobalance with
RightBrain’s reverse-temporal
both/and dipolar appositional wu wei climate of sacred co-presence,
Tipping Point positive abundance defaults
of cognitive/affective confluence,
which is all that pathology does not co-arise,
which is cognitive-affective dissonance, stress, ecopolitical suffering.

In Systems Process Theory,
as in Permaculture Design,
any unit (landscape, subclimate)
containing and retaining feedback integrity
of a streaming river,
radiant/co-gravitating light,
religioning sacred multicultures,
is systemically competent to process
and retain bilateral temporally-emergent positive cause
through double-negatively effective co-feeding information.

To our Right BrainBody ecosystemic incoming processors,
our Interior MindBody Landscape
functions like an intricate liturgically sacred mandala
holding interdependent Both/And polarities within a cooperative ecopolitical network
simultaneously framed, co-incident,
with LeftBrain’s emerging ecological networks of diverse 0 dimensions:
metric linear cause/effect past/future one dimensional,
graphic one through three space dimensional-static,
0-Centric alpha/omega Tipping Point diastolic-dimensional universe of polynomials,
4D geometric interactive information/exformation,
feedback regarding exterior community economic transactions of healthy/pathological value,
with everything in-between either extremely idealistic label,
with and without political power now,
in the past, stronger or weaker and why?
to project future CQI health-wealth trends.

Egos are interdependent ecosystemic units,
as are species,
but of a higher exegetically ecological type,
evidence of past evolving successes,
as are DNA with RNA transubstantiating Elder species,
still encrypted to this day
within each sacred mindbody ecosystem.

Climatic polarization of opinions
between those who perceive sacred ecosystems
where others see, more reductively,
linear equations and sequences of kosmic-karmic cause and effect,
secular,
reified academic ecosystemic co-arising evolutionary ethology,
currently emerging a more replete, culturally resonant
(0) soul Process GroupSystemic Prime Fractal/Octave-Lattice Network
emerging positive-deviant frame-closure revolutions
defining Basic Nutritional Co-Present EcoPolitical TrendFunctions
as Binomial-Binary 4D WinWin Gaming Balance Theory
for Regenerative Optimization of economicHealth/political EarthRights Wealth,
every philanthropic heart’s ultimate rich-deep wet soulful dream.

Bicamerally organizing humane intelligence,
still remains confluent with multiculturally accessible ontologies
in which contrasting poles of interior mental life
are teleologically assumed to be more highly positive-interactive when therapeutic,
and each internal dipolarity actively “both-anding” promotes the other
under confluent,
peaceful,
healthy states of mind with body.

Each of us walking/talking biosystems
contains an internally sacred landscaped sub-climate,
by no means monocultural unless nearly dead of exhaustion,
and more dipolar co-arising
toward Tipping Points
toward diastatic health optimization.

Rights of Justice

When criminal justice
is not also decriminalizing mercy
it is also not social
or even economic justice.

is not also self with other empowering

When sacred lives

It’s Nothing Personal

You say it’s nothing personal
this neglect you throw my way
but surely you can see it is political
to fire me from power within your life this day?

And, if political then economic
as we have no investments or divestments
without some self and/or other empowerment intention
of relational transaction
or disinvestment from what had been
mutually empowering relationship.

No longer hope of these ecopolitical transfers
of self with other power
that have meant so much to me,
for me,
of me.
Yet, yes I can see,
you need to protect yourself
with this belief
that somehow neglect of therapeutic process
is nothing personal,
just political and economic.

Thanks so much for this reminder
our sacred relationship
was merely your secular commodity.

How Can You Say

How can you say
with your not quite straight face
that you neither know nor care
anything of God, or gods, or even exotic goddesses?

That’s like saying you don’t care for any love today,
or rain during a drought,
but thanks so very much for suggesting your best holistic medicine,
all the same,
all the grace-filled rain that came some other place and day.
Like saying you don’t enjoy music
and dance
and red and purple and pink and yellow bruised violet sunsets.

How could you not care about creative becoming?
Regeneration of life?
The future home of our grandchildren?
Health care and assurance?
Social securities?
Anti-social insecurities?
Ecopolitical war games
and creative multicultural nature-spirit communications,
living in and between peacefully Beloving Communities.

How can you pretend
with that half-smirk
that this Earth Goddess we are regenerating
is no one you could know
or care deeply about?
To co-redeem, co-mentor?
To love into health by divesting of that anthrocentric hypocrisy,
thinking we could name,
much less commodify, God without idealizing self-imaged YHWH.

Why would you take a pass
on exploring our shared fully humane divinity?

This could not be true
not really you
not the Self with Others past and future right now you
would most prefer to know.

How can you know
we’re not gods and goddesses
in our integrity?
in our potential for regenerativity?
economic and politically ecological
sync-tensegrity,
love of full-stretch multi-colored jazzy soul livity.

Bateson and Taoism: A Cordial Conversation

Bateson:
Pathology is a relatively easy thing to discuss,
health is very difficult.

Laotse:
Pathology is a functional issue for discernment,
organic health is difficult to miss
unless you have switched our cooperative evolution
for your personal competitive revolution.

Bateson:
…the sacred is difficult to talk about,
because the sacred is peculiarly related to the healthy.

Laotse:
Sacrilege of mere secular profanity is difficult to miss
because sacred ecology unfolds abundant healthy organic ecopolitical systems.

Bateson, on the history of Western religious culture:
The proposition for which they were burning each other was,
on one hand, ‘the bread is the body,’
and on the other, ‘the bread stands for the body.’
…this whole argument is one of fundamental importance
when related to the whole of the nature of the sacred
and to human nature….
the richest use of the word ‘sacred’
is that use which will say that what matters
is the combination of the two,
getting the two together.

Laotse:
When is yeasty bread and wine
notnot yet a diastatic body?

Bateson:
Because it doesn’t make any prose sense,
the material of dream and poetry has to be more
or less
secret from the prose part of the mind.
It’s this secrecy,
this obscuration,
that the Protestant thinks is wrong,
and a psychoanalyst,
I suppose,
wouldn’t approve of either.
But that secrecy, you see,
is a protecting of parts of the whole process or mechanism,
to see that the parts don’t neutralize each other.
Laotse with Jaynes:
Because it doesn’t make any LeftBrain languaged sense,
the inductive material of dream and poetry and sacred ecology
is also reverse double-bind decomposing nutritional effects with causes,
a protecting of too-reductive parts of our whole organic polypathic process
to see that all parts must (0)soul compatibly neutralize each other.

Bateson:
What are you going to do about the use of the sacred?
There is a very strong tendency in occidental cultures,
and increasingly in oriental cultures,
to misuse the sacred.
You see,
you’ve got something nice,
central to your civilization,
which bonds together all sorts of values connected with love,
hate,
pain,
joy, and the rest,
a fantastic bridging synthesis,
a way to make life make a certain sort of sense.
And the next thing is that people use that sacred bridge
in order to sell things….
We can be influenced, it seems,
by any confidence trickster,
who by his appeals
makes cheap that which should not be made cheap.

Laotse:
How are you going to invest in/divest of this sacred ecology?
We have beauty and ugly,
kind and notnot kind,
in civilization as on Earth,
bonding together all values with their disvalues,
our empathic trusts with our ecopolitical distrusts and immunities.
This co-arising nonduality of positive and double-binding negative notnot
folds and unfolds a fantastic sacred bridge of synthesis toward sense,
with dissonance toward nonsense.
Those who would reduce sacred Earth Rights
to what can be merely bought and sold,
cheapen that which could become even more densely rich.

Bateson:
…while it may be fairly easy to recognize moments
at which everything goes wrong,
it is a great deal more difficult
to recognize the magic of the moments that come right;
and to contrive those moments
is always more or less impossible….
to make human relations prosper is exceedingly difficult.

Laotse:
Recognizing moments at which everything goes wrong
as tipping points,
time to upgrade risks of anger management
into opportunities of and for more expansive love development,
to consistently
predictably
normatively
climatically invite faithfulness toward co-empathic trust.

Bateson:
We are arrogant about what we might know tomorrow,
but humble because we know so little today.

Laotse:
We are Yang-overflowing about what we may know of integrity’s potential tomorrow,
co-arising with ego’s humility to notnot balance

Just Say Yes

Just say yes
to not yet gone
not yet going against your way
not yet becoming distrusted distasteful dissonance.

Those of us more blessed in the Positive Psychology department,
and yet perhaps all of us somewhat more opaquely,
enjoy qualities of life that we all do want,
and an equal number of negative appositional qualities
that we would do better without.
These are, by definition,
and by comparison with their more positive counterparts,
pathological,
as confluence is to discover dissonance,
as integrity grows to uncover late-great decompositional transitions,
as healthy climates recover from comparatively compromised unhealthy subclimates.

We all want more beauty
so less ugly.
We want more good
and less bad.
More truth
so less equivocating untruths.
We all want more healthy places and spaces and times
and paradigms
so less pathology of mind and heart and soul and body,
distresses of internal climates.

We all want cooperative economic and political relationships
and less rabid competing and terror
distrust and hatred.
We all want more power-with
so less power-over;
or do we?

We all want neither too much
nor too little.
We all want our self-optimizing time delivered neither too late
nor too soon.
These function as a prime-relational fractal of temporal double-bind,
wu-wei Tao Tipping Point
of (0)Zen mutually shared SpaceTime wants,
with their counterpart not-wants,
natures both kind and unkind humored.

We all want more peaceful order
so less stressful chaos now,
and to stay with us forever,
neither too soon nor too late,
but just rightly positive balanced
on tipping point of eternal now.

We all want
not too soon with not too late
quality of time,
as not too much and not too little Basic Nutritional Space
within Earth’s timeless co-present sacred place.

Polynomial values = notnot polypathic disvalues
as YangSpace = notnot YinTime wu-wei balance.

EcoPolitics of Psychologically Healthy Climates

If you don’t like the look or taste or smell of an Old Overly-Competitive Climate, then notice how it is slowly and intricately evolving into and toward dipolar abundance as a Revolutionary New EcoPolitical System, hopefully and empathically more trustingly and faithfully cooperative.  (A very loose paraphrase of Buckminster Fuller on great transitioning between old and new systems as  information-ing networks, and cooperatively developing ecopolitical climates.)

To love, agapic and/or erotic,
is a positive economic-political relational choice
to trust whomever
and whatever
is our Other right now
with our open caring empathy,
even when we may feel like withdrawing
into our suffering,
self-isolating
depressive,
repressed concerns of mistrust and dissonance,
because we have faith
that not only is this choice to integratively love,
to pay love forward,
how we define doing our ecopolitical and ecological best,
but also because we trust from prior experience
this is most likely to facilitate Others
doing their best as well.

Circles of affection and disaffection are both viral,
but only one is viciously so,
Both positive and negative psyches unveil viscous potential,
but only one tends toward sustained reiterative communication
in kind,
benign,
the other viscosity trends toward unkind, active distrust,
eventually hatred,
also a learned ecopolitical choice, at one time,
over several habitual and then hypnotizing times.

When this becomes most interesting for me
when I turn from thinking of Other as a person
or a group of people
or a set of people
or the human natural-languaged species,
and think, instead of Other as a member of some other organic species,
including those with root systems,
including coral reefs and tidal barriers,
or even other natural Black Hole environments and gestalts,
networking mandalas of seas
and mountain trails
throughout the changing of each season,
where love is my ubiquitously obvious and natural default,
not so much feeling like a choice,
but like what I have known as good and healthy and beautiful,
occasionally interrupted by pests.

Yet, even noticing whiney mosquitoes
and buzzing icky biting flies,
short of a horde swarming all about paranoid me,
is often cause for bittersweet slaps and swats
and imaginary battles between David and Goliath,
with me cast as the benignly-intended Monster Giant,
merely out to protect my own skin
regardless of mortal consequences
and risks
and ecopolitical opportunities
of Other,
smashed to bits.

When my days become overly clogged with strictly human discourse,
when human nature monopolizes my monoculturish time,
my symbol seems to be that of a molting snake,
awakening to a new but uncertain skin each dewy morning,
a somewhat different identity
than those accumulated through all my dreamy/nightmare yesterdays.

But, when I recreate outdoors
in and with and of more virginal embryonic Earthy nature,
then my icon becomes an inviting hummingbird,
always curiously flying about seeking and sending succulent rapture,
far too fast and urgently blissful for noticing,
much less slitherally eating, those pesky mosquitoes.

Inviting co-empathic trust
defines
Doing my best to follow
our Golden Rule,
for and of and with me
and my Elders
and our kids.

Inviting empathic cooperatively-invested trust
is to invite a climate of informed
incarnate
kosmic risks and opportunities
usually small yet sometimes Great Transitions
of Grace as Love as Karma as Positive Psychology
as a healthy regenerative ecopolitical gestalt,
mandala,
network,
ecosystem,
Earth,
natural-spiritual dipolar co-arising
profane-sacred
humane-divine
Tao-BiCameral Universe
of Snakes greeting Hummingbirds
and notnot dialectal vice-viral-versa.
