ManicDepressive Climates

Depression is like dying
without hope this process will end well,
without remediation
at least not for my closely held ego-identity,
and despair
this turning inward
creates a cocoon by avoiding outward.

Focal awareness of ego mortality,
immanent and emanant,
eminent,
turns inward,
returns inward
in despairing response against outward;
the whats and whos of external metaphysical life.

Depression brings tacit fixation on mortality
while advanced notice of irremediable pathologies
brings focal awareness
this is ego’s final stage of turning in,
away from out,
now already on that other side of a great timeless ego-boundary.

Those who die alone,
whether through depression or physical decomposition,
live inside a cloud of memories,
worries and anxieties
within which hope of further actively interdependent relationship,
experience of therapeutic communication,
may evaporate
especially if this is how we have lived apart together.
These alone with worries easily overwhelm
abandoned within our depressed boundaries
against others,
against possibility of natural experience as joy,
wonder
curiosity
compassion
love within further health becoming.

Depression, especially as it grows chronic,
within an individual,
within a played-out political culture,
within a longterm economic trend,
can be accompanied by paranoia.
Fear of turning terminally inward.
Worry that there is nothing inside
still becoming part of outside,
without capacity to influence, effect, affect,
other than to infect with further contagious
anger and depression about isolation
and deprivation,
neglect of healthy relationship,
violent ego-abuse
craving therapies for self-administered escape.

Internal voices become an anxious debate
about over-consuming
and under-producing life.
Not measuring up to original hopes
and intent of co-creating Paradise.

Depression is typically humorless,
especially when accompanied by flights of paranoia.

Humor, whether manically fluid
or dryer, more cool sardonic,
more vulnerably exposing of ego’s childlike dispositions,
and adolescent gender-related predator and prey articulations,
is not accessible from within paranoia’s cocoon
of fear
that ego’s core is empty white cold disassociating noise.

Manic oppression of others
erupts into the geometric opposite view,
what was concave depressed grows convex anger,
even rage.
Ego becomes SuperEco,
equivalent with Earth’s polypathic interdependent
ecopolitically self-justifying powers,
entitlement to terrorizing extremes
to take
to use
to enslave
to exploit
in return against Earth’s profound disappointments
and unfairness suffered in the name of others’ claims for freedom
to own whatever and whomever remains outside Left-your/Right-our
self-identified cocoon of integral becoming.

Love and humor and regenerate faith
lie midway between these two extremes
of manic Yang interdependent ecopolitical empowerment
and negative dualdark Yin,
both depressed for reasons of past mutual oppressions,
and feeling antipathically paranoid
about this great emptiness inside.

Both love and humor
evaporate this great barrier reef
between tragic depression
and comedic obsession
with our overpowering egotistic LeftBrain dominant charm.

Capitalism,
as contrasted with cooperatively co-investing capital,
is in idolatrous tension
with therapeutic roots
of Catholicism
and all forms and rituals of Messianic Saviorism.
Here lies our incapacity
to both serve a regenerative healthy God
and a degeneratively reified,
desacralized,
depressed Mammon,
organic Creation
without nutritional Creator.

Capitalism grows ever more virulently rabid
as my ultimate Win
always and everywhere must be at your Lose expense;
investing in manic ego is my higher priority,
and should be,
in dubious fact,
due to laws of competitive predator nature,
must be above cooperative organic investing
in ecoEarth as holy Other.

Whereas positive faith systems,
including all dialects of Judeo-Christianity and Islam,
Buddhism and Taoism and Hinduism,
teach, and sometimes behave,
following WinWin cooperative Golden Rule
as Original Intent of regenerate Earth
iconized as God
and/or Goddess
and/or Allah
and/or Atman, etc.

So, when we hear,
through our too often depressed
and repressed
and suppressed ears,
that military threat and violent arms
are our ecopolitical first choice
to grow economic freedom away from depression,
we can also hear the satanic voice of Capitalism
growing freedom toward
totalitarian manic monoculturing Yangism.

Capital,
removed from a sacred ecological resource for health co-investment,
becomes degenerative of wealth for interdependent freedoms,
rooted in this equivalence
between universal co-relational identity with Earth,
our original embryonic Paradise cocoon,
wombing empty integrity,
(0)-sum ego-ecopolitical
cooperative nondual co-arising intent
as timeless interdependent/empty co-identity
within RealWorld cooperative spacetime.

This barrier reef of Left with Right identity
includes both polypathic comedy
and antipathic tragedy,
yet never all of one
unless some of other,
each side searching WinWin applications
reiterating Left-Right Golden Rules of Tao-balance,
recreating freedom
synonymous with both heady capital
and nondual dipolar tailish eco-equity
co-investing fairness.

Freedom from depression toward sublime multiculturing wonder;
freedom to elate subprime depression’s passing.

Doubling Boundaries

You had me at Aloha
all through Aloha again,
between banks of outdoor clouds
sailing sigh,
some lighter whiter
faster,
some darkly starkly stable
yet even these passing through
this invite and disinvite Aloha

You greet me as Shalom
through our health as wealth commencement,
fleeing indoor fleecing fleeting noise
for outside peace
flights of radiant fancy
seeing colors inside out
where we belong
in our less seething sheathed Shalom.

Are we only our indoor voices
ending at odds with where resonance begins?

Our outside voices
ending eventually within,
evenly without,

clouds both bright and dark.

Braiding Dawn with Eve

In “Braiding Sweetgrass”
Robin Wall Kimmerer
favorably contrasts Skywoman’s creation story
with Eve’s less abundant vocation.

In our shared Right hemisphere,
Skywoman “created a garden
for the wellbeing of all.”
While in and out of the more extractive Left hemisphere,
Eve was banished from her forest garden
“and the gates clanged shut behind her.”

To live as fully as possible,
Eve must subdue the wildness
“into which she was cast.”
Meanwhile,
Skywoman remains an active matriarchal agent
of this casting and forecasting
wildness.

This feels fine to me as it is.
Yet I can also recognize Skywoman
as RightBrain Dawn
migrating through these four languaged millennia
to re-emerge this Eve of Earth’s climate pathologies
re-approaching reweaving gates bilaterally opening
with no more need for violent slamming shut
gates designed for polypathic bilateral nudging,
Dawn through Eve,
forward through back again,
surfing Left to Right
nondual co-arising.

In my version
of this Skywoman Dawn meets Eve,
Dawn says to Eve
“Sister, you got the short end of the stick…”
while Eve hears and dreams therapeutic response,
resonant resolutions
to lead with longer and deeper
and wider more inclusive nutritious carrots
this seasoning of Earth’s dualdark bicameral health
re-emerging
revolving
revolutioning
braiding dawn then eve
toward dawn’s DNA again.

Laundering Her Accounts

New England’s late May sun was long up,
and yet her laundry began to unfold
and clip onto the droopy clothesline,
while yet to warm into 8 AM.

She wore a light spring jacket
and need not think long
about why and how much of water
she consumed each day
each month
each year.

These numbers are written on ledgers of her mind
and asset hanging body.
Food
and heat
and phone service,
electricity
and water
and even some of her compost.
All off-site store
and on-line purchases.

Balancing thoughts nutritional,
sometimes toxic piles of consuming laundry lists
from diverse and fragrant markets.
This was an easy stroll
down double-entry accountability lane
compared to thinking through what she had produced.

Which reminded her to breathe
and about air.
The good air she had breathed all year.
She had no bill for services rendered,
in large part by the trees,
but the ecology and chemistry are complicated.
Still, no bill.

And what about all the bad air she had produced?
No one seemed likely to repay her.
At least not with kindness.

Yet she had also produced some good air,
and so had her daughters and sons.
And she had produced them,
without as much help as she might have preferred
for so much poopy laundry.

Come to think of it,
no one had sent much of anything
for her investments in retaining this planet
with capacity for self-naming Earth,
or any other name either
as far and deep as she could linguistically foretell.

She didn’t bring home a paycheck anymore.
That could have been a measure of her production value.
Yet she was not so sure
which part of all those hours
and years
would end up on the positive regenerative asset side
of self and other investing income
and how much was more degenerative and toxic.
Both trends paid the same in cash,
but not within her warm-washed heart.

This was her accounting problem.
She could measure consumption with her mind and body
but she wanted to balance her production values
and disvalues with her heart,
maybe only because her mind could not wrap around
the positive and negative productive garnering numbers.

What did she produce in healthy amounts?
Too much clean laundry or not enough?
And what else might she over-produce
in toxic overpopulating quantities?
Is this all her kids could be and hope for?
Her contribution to inhumane overpopulation
to further deteriorate Earth’s healthier climates.
What futures would these well-worn clothes cover?

This must not be enough.

So she talked and listened with other women she knew,
including her mother and grandmothers,
but also her daughters,
about how they cooperatively and competitively approached
their double-entry accountability issues.

One grandmother
made a conserving assumption
that all her breath was wasted,
so entered her heart-felt numbers
on Earth’s negative side–
we are intrinsically bad for other nature-spirits.
But also made her balancing assumption,
all her intakes of cash were sufficient in return.
An even exchange,
positive feedback capital
balancing all her bad breath outflow.
Her clothesline
carried only her own clothes.

Her other grandmother
spoke of a rule
her mother taught and listened to tape-measure through each day.
If she had some negative feedback to invest,
it must wait until she had completely played out
any positive feedback
she could honestly express.
In this way she could predict
her positive productions
at least 0-sum balancing
with her negative airs
and positions,
policies and partnerships,
pairs and repairs of pants and socks
and other relationships;
her economic and political productions
across her project lifeline.

She said her goal was to consume
at least as wisely balanced as she produced,
to give at least as well as she had taken.

Her daughter went on-line
to frame a women’s global cooperative.
And then she quantified her negative consumptions
of mind and body
against and with her positive heartbeats and breaths,
to see and hope and hypostatically hypothesize
thermodynamic ecopolitical balance
as 0-sum WinWin
cooperative ego/eco-systemic balance,
slow-growing her matriarchal cooperative laundry ownership
of this women and allies cooperative
transfer and exchange market
for healthier global climates.

She followed her daughter on-line
to co-mentor with her global sisters,
and allies,
how we can add and subtract,
divide and multiply
our cooperative positive mutual dividends
invested for each other
more than WinLose against.

This did not necessarily resolve her ecological balance sheet
but her daughter’s on-line cooperative intention and outcome bank
of entries,
nested by individual within local bioregion,
did resolve and resonate with her accounting
by double-entry
regenerative v degenerative 0-sum balance issue.

Now what was in and on her heart and breath,
was also expanding out through cooperating breasts and chests,
WinWin more than competitive WinLose.

What continued in patriarchal Washington,
and other capital-consuming cities,
hoarding breath ’til smoke-filled blue
denying Earth’s climating pathologies,
faded back somewhat from terrorizing view
because this hoarding vision of contemporary history
was no longer the only cooperative-competitive game in town,
and across Earth’s matriarchally treed forests,
networks,
embryonic organic networks,
regenerative and decomposing lines,
perennial spirals
recycling productive Yang with cooperative consuming yin-fractal DNA
seasonal 0-sum
WinWin reiterative primal relationships,
double-positive-binds,
not just light
but bright,
not just love
but polypathic beloving matriarchal communities
of and for healthy accounting balance sheets,
hung out to dry
on this sunny warm breeze May day.

Meritocracy is nurtured through discerning differences
between regenerative and degenerative information.

Aristocracy is controlled and maintained
against revolutionary change
by both regenerative and degenerative energy patterns
of historic entitlement.

Merits and demerits
are nurtured and avoided.

Aristocrats and slaves are controlling and controlled
primarily and fundamentally
by birth rights and wrongs,
inherited wealth and power
and disinheriting poverty and absence of cooperative ownership,
even of an enslaved ego,
addicted to avoiding annihilation by fear-selling aristocratic gods,
and sometimes even goddesses,
disguised as princesses
and Queen Bees
and AntiFeminist Aunts.

Democracies nurture nonsexist and nonracist meritocracy,
rooted in past cooperatively successful experience
with ecosystemic self-governing balance,
familial meritocracy spewing out mutual governance skill sets,
and adult vocational performance
producing measurable mutually cooperative-nurture outcomes,
more than consuming competitive controlling outputs
of and for authority by right of historic purchased placement
rather than by right of mutually trusting responsibilities,

Plutocracy seeks to control,

When do healthy democracies
turn toward pathological plutocracies?

When past performance standards
for public sector vocations
turn to whom and what you could buy and sell,
from whom and what you have cooperatively developed

with healthy
mutually happy
prosperously resolving ego/eco-balancing outcomes.

When the electors,
the civitas,
turn from discerning merits of mutual wisdom,
look away from matriarchal co-empowerment,

becoming too nationalistically
and ethnically

and ego proud to actively nurture Earth’s dipolar cooperativity,

When the healthy wealthy Earth Moms and Dads are in charge,

We have become post-industrially accustomed
to relying on mechanical models
for understanding evolution as progress or regression,

But, nature’s ecosystemic models,

God’s Utopian Church

I was listening to a Christian theologian friend of mine
speaking about the Messiah’s,
and St. Paul’s,
original intention when singing praises of God’s here/not-here Kingdom,
and potential as a multiculturally inclusive Church,
as a countercultural extending family,
creolizing out to encompass all human natures
to conjoin and rejoin Earth’s cooperatively-owned
and self-other governing GoldenRule thrivalist nature,
bountiful nature,
Beloved Cooperative Community global nature.

Which got me thinking
about the difference between totalitarian state ownership
of all cooperative enterprises,
devised by Stalin and Lenin and Mao Tse Tung
and whatever mess is still continuing in North Korea,
as compared to the cooperative network culture of the Basque Region
in Spain,
and perhaps elsewhere.

This difference between cooperative ownership
and communist ownership
is that cooperativist WinWin feedback loops
extend up from grassroot enterprises with authority
to govern the full range of their consumer-producer balance
within interdependent ecopolitical authorities;
whereas communist authority centralized autonomous ownership,
so all local cooperative enterprises,
including schools and hospitals and tractor factories,
were servants owned by the National Communist Mob,
which itself functioned less as a democratically self-governing,
collectively responsible party,
and more like a plutocratic private club
for internally disintegrating WinLose strategies,
more like dis-organizing crime
with military conscription powers
than a cooperative coordinating national team
of and for governing healthy consumer-producer co-ownership,

Which seems to be
more or less
what my theologian friend sees
when he looks at the early Christian post-Messianic extending out family
self-regeneratively creolizing
counterculturing church,
originally composed of those who rather too radically advocated
for most anything victimless,
and not holding preferences
for what today’s Christian fundamentalist understands
as traditional family values–
clearly not mentored
by the Messiah or by the single and celibate advocate St. Paul.

The way the Mondragon cooperative network
controls this tendency for money and power to become swept up
into the top of a central governing body
begins with local democratic self-governing ownership
and management of cooperative enterprises;
a cooperative guild structure.

I wonder what our educational system would become
if the State did not own the school system
but the parents and students and their paid staff
owned local educational environments,
some inside and some outside,
to learn how to cooperatively learn
our healthy wealth cost-effective lifestyles together,
as both consumers and producers,
each equilaterally associated as a cooperative education state department,
composed entirely of our rotating in and out cooperative member constituents.

I wonder what a cooperatively owned and managed health service would look like,
and feel like,
and whether we might find a richer therapeutic environment
of profoundly creolizing grassroots enrichment there,
among staff and other hurt and temporarily co-dependent patients
and our pets and extending family visitors,
surrounded by trees and frisky squirrels
and lettuce-addicted rabbits,
therapeutically growing out our family tree toward God’s cooperative household
of healthing cooperatives.

I wonder if educational cooperatives
would begin to sound more like health consumer-producer cooperatives,
and vice versa,
and if all this cooperative ownership,
and not anti-communal centralizing totalitarianism,
might feel a bit more like God’s ecotherapeutic Church.

How do we distinguish
between a healthy garden and a weed patch?
By nurtured nutritional outcomes,
positive yield,
inclusively diversifying so more robust profits,
growing healthy wealth creolizing potential,
including harvesting of seeds and bulbs
for our next even more cooperatively self-governing regeneration.

How do we distinguish
between a church or temple or synagogue
and a weed patch?
As above.

How do we distinguish
between playing with abundant time vocations
and indentured competing against time servitudes?
Same answer,
where seeds and bulbs
are cooperative,
organic,
unfold reverse-hierarchically, from within,
composed of and for multiculturing interdependent relationships
which we nutritionally enable together
as Earth’s Common Cooperative Church as Garden
producing positive nutritious yields
again,
for and of future faithful self-with-other
ego/eco balancing
regenerators,
doing our best to obtain a positive every-day
at-home
responsible yield for us, together
cooperatively-held, owned, governing,
nurturing and nutritious authorities.
