Dancing Through Thin Margins

There is an old and wise saying,
Take only what you need
and use everything you take.

We often consider the first part,
or at least make occasional stabs at simplicity,
but the last part is less frequently said
or thought about
as essential to healthy vulnerability.

If we don’t use everything we take
and have been given by others,
then we can be sure
we have been given, and perhaps taken,
more than we need.

Taking only what we need
sounds obvious and transparently ethical,
perhaps even aesthetic
in purity of harmonic intent,
yet more mysterious
and richer
and deeper
when we remember
that life itself,
and human life even evolving more so,
is lived in margins,
double-boundaried spaces,
places,
times,
seasons of growth and decay.

Earth’s marginal soul
is living soil and water,
surface wind and fire storms
and swells and ebbs.
RNA and DNA regenerate
on and within this thin biosystemic sphere
between atmosphere
and dead bedrock.

Life, as contrasted to not-life,
is a marginally placed process
of learning to take only what Earth offers
and gratefully using everything as cooperative gift.

Life derives from prehistoric photosynthesis
on Earth’s evolving and devolving synthesis
and revolving skin.
And our senses, all five,
each take what we need of this synthesis
to LeftBrain adapt
and RightBrain adopt
what our thin margin offers us
of and for a healthy simplicity
yet wealthy diversity
of synthesizing double-boundaried life through death.

Humane life is evolutionary
within Earth’s marginal organic boundaries
as we choose to use everything
our RNA and DNA Elders
have gracefully and phylogenically offered us
to swim and walk and fly
within Earth’s bountiful health boundaries.

Humanity defines what Earth has given
as marginally sufficient diversity
and is uniquely poised on a constant multicultural edge
to fully delineate,
acclimate,
creolize,
know polypathic gratitude
for this polyphonic boundary grace,
to deeply digest
and warmly decompose
every sensory gift of Earth
we take in
through this vulnerable ride
between natural birth
and spiritual revolution,

Taking only what marginal wealth
we need
and using every double-boundaried health
we gratefully receive.

Universal Stories

All of us,
or nearly all,
have had both spiritual experience
and some religious teaching,
sometimes from prophetic pulpit ScriptureSpeakers
and sometimes through more maternal StoryTellers,
and all immersed in prodigal parables
bridging gaps
between internal spiritual experience
of nutritional love through toxic hate,
ecocentric good through egocentric evil
and sad,
and religious instructions
about how to do better,
more cooperatively,
next time,
gratitude co-investing Earth’s rich health grace.

All of us,
or most,
for cooperatively better
and Yang/Yin competitively worse,
have had both economic ecological experience
and prophetic,
and sometimes pathetic,
political teachings
about how best to govern
our YangLeft-RightYin regenerative selves,
our local communities of bicameral cooperative intent,
our counties and provinces and bioregions,
our nations
as our MotherEarth Planet
eco-cooperative place
of original embryonic Earth-Mother’s
matriarchally nutritional
spirit-nature nondual
co-arising Grace
as both God and Gaia Earth’s Creation
invite more gratitude together
than Yang v. repressed Yin
apart.

Which came first?
Spiritual and ecological embryonic experience?
Or political-religious-cultural prophecies
and laws
and legislation,
mediated dogmas
and political nominations
for your persuasion
and co-investment in
Anger Management EgoTherapies
and Love Abundance EcoTherapies?

Or
do they SpiritYin–
secular NatureYang–
co-arise
nondually
toward equivalent
polypathic
Grace abundant Gratitude?

In other words
each embryonic new birth
is also an ancient reforesting regenetic unfolding
of phylogenic instructions
for reforesting our lives in potential-Eden,
for Paradise perpetuation
from now
through at least 7-ReGenerations.

To paraphrase avid David Holmgren,
we best remember
gains and losses
from culling forests,
ecosystems external
and egosystems internal,
are made health and pathology possible
by Earth’s deep rich cooperative eco-learning diversity
of Patriarchal Grace
greeting integrity of Matriarchal Gratitude;
experience first intended
while still in loving Mother’s Spirit-Natured Womb.

Be careful who you deepest listen to,
are fed and bled by,
said TransGender Virgin Mary,
when reforesting your forests
in and out.
From thunderous tones of too Patriarchal Voices
and the flowing grace-octaves of original sensory experience,
you can usually delineate
those who know differences between culling and raping,
and those who not so much have first clues,

and the people of rich deep color,
have only bleeding parts
instead of speaking

Three Sisters CoOp

The CoOp featured Women and Families
and their Matriarchal Allies,
often LGB and/or T,
and even some curiously queerer,
but not meaner
in appropriate demeanor
regardless of habitat
and camouflage
and costume,
ready for a folksy ball,
come as you neighborhood are
at Three Sisters CoOp.

The Corn Sisters
first brought their good news gospel,
Christian straight through bisexual,
standing Yangish tall.

To conjoin the Bean Brothers and Sisters,
enslaved in wombs a bit too much longer
than their corny deep green sisters,
yet rich brown and red
and forest green ready
to sprout and reforest spiral,
devouring,
yet digesting appropriately just right,
what Corn could carry and bear,
before producing their Bean creolizing
jazzy song and dance performers;
sultry street reformers
resting on a corny stalk of Yang.

Pumpkin spreading shade Earth Allies
grow across the CoOp’s neighborhood,
incorporating spiritual
and natural nutritions
to feed a hungry matriarchal-patriarchal world,
rich with integrative nutritional potential,
deep with CoOp integrity
to reweave,
reforest,
Three Sister CoOps,
wherever humanity blooms,
not bleeds so much,
as and where planted,
in and out,
up and down,
back and forth
TaoTime reweaving.

A Great Transitional bean-brother
and sister
stood to take the lunch microphone
first opened up this day
to say:

If you look at a flat picture of a three-sprout braid,
it looks like oppositional Yang and Yin
are bilaterally weaving in and out
in Hypostatic Union
universally alone.

Yet that same three-dimensional braid
when felt and looked at
from at least all three-sides,
unveils a secret wu-wei Trinity
of TaoTime,
a braid for Sacred Corn
as FatherSun,
a braid for Natural Beans
as Holonic Cooperative Flowing-Spiral Spirit,
a braid for MotherEarth
Squashed Down Folks and Species
spreading lovely shade and reforesting projects
and cooperative programs,
economically and politically discouraging competing weeds
while splattering growing psychologically complex rain
where it best absorbent falls.

But, which nutritional strand is which
depends on you,
the ecopolitical view you listen to most Yang-Yin deeply,
as written in sweetgrass braids
of each Three Sisters CoOp.

Organic Developers

Permacultural Designers
are taught to multiply the number
and networking depth
of relationships
between species
and organisms
and systems
and cooperative economic networks,
rather than the simpler adding functions
of traditional agriculture;
Where,
if you plant eight crops,
you get eight maybe interdependent functional relationships,
and maybe not so much,
especially as we learn to add the evolutionary trajectory
for number of functional relationships
between interdependently planned species,
organisms, etc.,
across multigenerational time.

A’s are given out for diversely sustained polycultural outcomes,
and F’s mean LoseLose failed
to sustain a quasi-healthy unbalancing,
running too multigenerationally fast
out of control,
monocultural outcome.

There is something different
about a third generation poor single Mom,
as compared to first generation.
The failing number of functional relationships
of primary health focus,
of nutritionally diverse balance,
of color, harmony, seasonal symmetry,
mutually cooperative atonement,
as compared to a first generation poor single parent
whose parents were actually better off
in ecopolitically nutritious relationships
than the dwindling aspirations
horizons
landscapes and climates
of their own monoculturing children,
and their drowning in toxins of despair
grandchildren.

We have this same multigenerational disparity,
at least here in the U.S.,
between Third Generation plutocratic supremacists,
rich in wealth
yet poor in mental health,
in their dwindling number and depth of functional diverse relationships
with other species and organisms and cultures and religions,
elite partnerships and competing unto death incorporations
and public sector democratically oppressive
lack of inclusive health and climate care assurance,

As compared to their First Generation
of nouveau riche,
Horatio Alger stories
proving the Original EcoPolitical Principle
of interdependent needs and wants
make systems grow longer,
sustain diverse functional relationships,
mutually nurture health
which is,
after all,
a system’s only true WinWin polycultural longterm outcome.

In this light,
I find it fascinating
to explore the similarities and differences
between a late middle-age denialist Donald Trump,
third generation wealthy,
and Elder socialist Fidel Castro,
from at least three generations of not wealth,
just regular folks
doing the best they cooperatively could
given humble circumstances,
and yet great communitarian
multiple-functional relationship expectations
across subtle nuances of race
and religion
and culture
and multi-sensory color and fragrance and taste
and philosophy.

I wonder if this has anything to do with
why you find cooperatively supported small farm and garden
straight to locally driven or bicycled market
nutritional economies,
and national health care,
as a right to cooperative life
multigenerational expectation
in Cuba,
outlasting Castro’s own adolescent and young adult
violent dictatorial issues,
not trusting his own inherited experience
as a magnate for permacultural peace
of multifunctional-multigenerationally deep
and rich
healthy relationships.

Perhaps if Donald
had not been born Third Generation Entitled
and if he had another decade or two
to grow into more mature healthy adulthood,
he could see White House potential
as therapeutic for all Earth’s interdependently cooperative health functions,
rather than his current myopic preoccupation
with what a toxic swampy dump it is,
with how to sound like his cock
looks as big as his militaristic fascist walk.

After all,
a younger Fidel had similar Trumpian oppositionally disordered issues,
counting his number of guns
rather than remembering to stay focused
on growing the number of multiplying functional nutrients
interdependently cooperative relationships
across this network
we Commonly hold
called Earth.

Health care standards
are climate care constants
and resilient variables.

Health care and receiving constants
across cultures and diverse species
of plant and animal,
and perhaps even mineral, lifespans,
each and all declare
mentoring mutual health is positive,

Yang and bilateral, or even multilateral, Yin,
squared and cubed
and fractal and octaves
of resilient variable sounds
and light,

if health care and receiving

it is therefore resiliently good for All,

If healthiness

are to Yin flow-sustaining sentences
proclaiming regeneration wins
as decomposition loses loss.

Love manufactures
where fear’s angers
pass double-bound away,
if healthiness

Aging in a Deeper Place

As I age
the formerly wide chasm between ecstasy and despair
grows narrower,
deeper.

I had not thought this an attribute of maturation,
quite the contrary,
but perhaps an aging crevice,
a thinning fracture
between played-out manic bliss, over-extended harvest,
and depression
nondually faces two extremes
of positive major chords and keys
with negative minor tensions
searching for each other out and in,
become too vocal, focal
looking for tacit evidence
apposition yet lives
on another side
of this darkening
enlightening
divide.

Dr. Jeckyll’s confluence
redeeming Mr. Hyde’s dissonance
double-binding midway balance
now become a treacherously tight rope
tensioned for resonance and buoyant bounty,
just short of snapping side against side.

Perhaps wisdom is learning how to equitably co-invest
in both wonder and shock,
without becoming paralyzed in-between these boundless awes,
deep wavering yes and please not yet,
not yet,
carving a gorge
deep echoing sacred reverence
and secular irrelevance,
ecstasy with ridiculing despair,
boundless sufficiency without endless satisfaction,
reiterating eternal integrity
not yet surely promised
beyond potential disintegration.

If solitude portends sublime co-operation,
what remains for aching loneliness?

Who and what could become redeemed
through double-binding isolations
within voiceless awe
for wonder indwelling silent shock
of ego loss
deep shadowing eco-gain?

To win to lose,
to lose to win,
co-arising deceptions again.

Deeply resonant depressions;
subliminal,
suboptimizing ego dominations.

Two delineations
with hairline fracturing co-definition?

What would be blissful contentment’s promise
without any dissonant content
for comparison?

What are omnipotent spirits
without ego vacuuming materials,
evidence of necessary,
hopefully sufficient,
deep double-binding awe
that we,
even I within we,
have been something,
someone,
someone’s,
rather than the far more statistically likely
nothing at all
evermore.

The Senior Center

The Senior Center was a beehive of active waiting
to die.

Bingo
but not ballroom dancing.

Knitting
but not garden expansions.

Physical therapy
but not yoga
and not chi gong,
much less mindful meditations
sung in four part harmony.

The new guy,
just growing into sixty-five,
asked them
How would we like to be remembered
one hundred years from now?

That doesn’t seem likely,
I know,
but perhaps more likely together
than playing Solitaire
side by side.

I would like to be remembered
as healers of The River
said a somber SeptemberGenerian woman
surrounded by ancient lady friends.

No one needed to ask why.
We all knew
what was coming downriver
for future regenerations
of thirsty toxined minds
with biodiverse bodies.

And so we found younger allies
who owned property along The River,
beginning with the railroad company,
and the Mohegans
and the Pequots,
where a Senior knew a Senior
with a well-placed daughter,
and sometimes a son
of unusual cooperative and long-term focus.

Together we planted firs
and cedars along polluted and denuded banks,
for future generations to manage,
harvest for housing
and furniture
and fiber
and possibly even coffins
waiting for memories of polluted rivers
to die.

That was one hundred years ago
we started
in this regenerative Senior Center,
and still going strong
as each year
a new incoming class
of those who finally reached sixty-five
joined our river healing project,
more recently also producing fruit trees
and berries,
flax
and hemp,
mushrooms
and nuts
and sweetgrass baskets
woven by SeptemberGenerians.

Women and a few surviving men
and some more in-between
smiling together
at the round cedar table in the back,
remembering Elder healers
of our barren land
and naked River.

Why Is It?

Why is it
those who reside in mental hospitals
find themselves struggling to remember
This is supposed to be a hospital,
and not a prison for society’s revenge?

Why is it
those who find themselves imprisoned
struggle to remind themselves
and each other
this is supposed to be a prison,
and not an insanely vengeful mental hospital?

Why is it
bondage breeds violence
as freedom feeds cooperative democracy,
mutual empowerment?

Why is it
defending capital-hoarding elites
breeds criminalization and militarization,
while freeing human natures
to embrace all Earth’s nature-spirits
feeds ecological democracy
to polypathically grow,
contagiously expand in joy
and wonder
and mutual awe?
