Trump Against Conservatives

What are some differences
between post-millennial Trumpism
and pre-millennial Republicanism?

I know…I know!
Republicans used to be fiscal conservatives
but now support a one trillion dollar deficit
per unaffordable health and safety care year,

Expanded deficit spending
despite taking more from not so rich
so super-rich corporations and family dynasties
can invest less in public responsibilities
and conservational authorities.

OK.
What other differences do you see?

I know…I know!!!
Republicans used to be family moral conservatives
but now nominate candidates
who molest women and then brag about it
while employed through tax investor dollars
disproportionately extracted from lower-middle
and poor shackled families,
and candidates who may sexually assault young Southern girls
and expect their liberated from traditional family values voters
to hold their nose
and vote for them anyway.

Because a fetus
is presumed to become a heterosexual baby,
except when things work out wrong somehow,
but a penis
is just another predictable bad boy penis.

That sounds a bit Boys Will Be Boys judgmental,
and maybe anti-Southern?
But, OK,
what else do you see
or hear
or smell, I suppose, possibly,
as Trumpism
antithetical to traditional Republican conservatism.

I know…maybe?

Doesn’t healthy conservatism
require wealthy conservation of nutritional values,

I was watching “Silence” last night

Better Climate Questions

It has been said
There is no bad question
asked with cooperative integrity.

While those asked with competing disintegrity,

are not really questions at all.

That said,
conceded as asked and answered,
Some questions remain
more ecologically and economically,

publicly and intimately,
naturally and spiritually
more significant than others.
More urgent
in times of great climate global extinctions,
than mere national economic recessions.

I remember an economics class
at Yale
when the moderate,
academically and politically even-handed,
almost philosophically bipolar professor
argued with persuasion
about historically proven polarizing dangers
of this growing divide between rich
and poor,
within nations
and across international economies,
still-emerging gaps
and cracks
and fissures
between upper-middle stasis
and revolutionarily unrested lower-middle diastasis,
with an evaporating populist median,
midway,
Tipping cooperative values
against competing disvalued Points
between these antagonistic two;
forming One Great Transitioning Divide–
plutocratic predators and cooperatively-huddling prey.

But,
I also remember his frustration
about economic scholars
not having a robust theory
to explain why
financial and political history
tell this story
without apparent evolutionary reason,
or intent to survive,
much less co-invest
in mutual thrival,
perhaps revolutionary gospel revival
of trusts and truths DNA-democratically held
and savored.

He could not explain why
the Democratic Party
has made more cooperative multi-class creolizing sense
to worry about this growing bad climate
while the Republican Party

Is it appropriate

have a reasonable option

I recall a card game
probably extending back past the 1950s
called Old Maid.

There was also Authors
and a few other choices
less popular with me.
But Old Maid sticks in mind
as blatantly sexist
and ageist
and, for a country kid
in redneck rural Republican Michigan,
the most fun
of admittedly limited card playing options.

Whoever was stuck holding the Old Maid
at end of game
was the biggest loser,
for obvious reasons.

Who would want to be associated
with that old and useless appendage?

National politics in the U.S.,
all about the marketing, purchase, and sale

and four-year terms of public greed responsibility,
increasingly reminds me
of OldMaid gamesmanship.

I don’t really mean gamepersonship.

This game for avoiding loss
of responsibility and authority,

and cooperatively prosperous safety,

This game in which the OldMaid
is played by aging fossil-fuel industries
played-out too often militarized
ballistic violence,

These OldMaid industrial choices
have most ballistically justified
plutocratic wars
inviting young,

to live with losses to OldMaid political stuckness
in the name of patriotic duty,

Although not matriotic integrity
to our own healthy hands
for better Win-Win games

and economic
and personal
and family therapy strategies,

fear of losses
holding OldMaid over-industriously held cards.

No one wants to be in unlovely public office
when the last drop of oil
and last glistening gasp of gas
wears through now useless OldMaid pumps

unlubricated OldMaid economic bitches.

No one wants to be in office
holding the last OldMaid dry-humped card
from a 1950s stacked deck
when 2020 revisions
change climate changing hands
into feminist story books
of how our generation
deliberately and stubbornly chose,
like stiff-necked self-chosen people
of OldMaids and PatriarchalMen,
counter-intuitively choosing the climate pathology card,
fascinated by our own death
and the death of our habitat
and the death of any future
of humane proportion and design,
rhythm and pattern.

When we have so many post-millennial cooperative Win-Win options
to actively hope

Senator Obama’s Audacity of Hope
ends with listing memories,
visual images,
that rekindle his love for this imperfectly united Place

For his Country,
this humane Habitat
for mutual care-giving,
and at least implies this is all he needs,
not yet all he hopes,
for mutual care-receiving.

His vocational visions
of cooperatively developing this Place
are common to cultures
across six of seven Continents,
inhabited by a healthy
and peace-intentional
People

People for restoring naturally cooperative justice,
not so much relying on retribution,
threat of punishment,
ruthless egotistic competitions,
with Win-Lose evolutionary assumptions
about this sacred Planet.

He runs along Washington’s Mall,
while remembering bakers baking bread,
and masons laying bricks and blocks
and Lincolns inaugurating good-faith speeches
and Kings gathering rainbows of good hope
while watching homeless men on benches
rearranging, endlessly, their possessions,
their bricks and blocks for survival,
without judgment or condemnation,
even if without understanding,
with gratitude,
basic positive attitude,
on each and every side.

For, if we do not have proof
those who are differently arranged
and languaged
and encultured
and flagged
than ourselves
are not doing their best,
are not filled with their portion of sacred cooperative grace
for developing this Place,
our spaces
interdependent
and in nondual dipolar relationship,
And who could know another’s Place
so intimately and vulnerably
to have such proof of mere malicious malingering,
shy of Gaian Earth HerSelves?

Then,
without proof of full will and full intent GoldenRule violations,
then we are ethically healthier
and aesthetically more satisfied
to continue in good faith,
We, and those around us,
of all ages
and genders
and cultures
and languages
and colors
and rhythms
and flags
share this grace-filled Place
sacred vocation.

To run through our Washington Malls
of mind and heart with exercising bodies,
Malls of historic healthy wealth development
remembering, with appreciation,
filling with gratitude,
for writers of democracy-growing unity Constitutions,
layers of trust-growing bricks and blocks,
singers of multiculturing faith,
dancers for MotherEarth’s sacred love
and beauty.

Our cooperative relationship with Earth,

does not grace us with more life and death
than we can handle satisfactorily,
aesthetically,

and then we can try our best

Heroes and Villains

Everyone’s great cause
projects them as our future’s therapeutic hero.
So all against our health-intending causes
reject us as potential victimizers,
ostracizers,
impeachers,
disenfranchisers,
excommunicators.

The trick is to see antagonists,
sources of trauma,
as part of protagonist causes you,
resource for therapy,
actively seeking out each other
as possible co-redeemer heroes
resolving differences together,
with good faith
in divinely interrelated sacred causes.

I live with a fifteen year old daughter
with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
and the emotional intelligence
of a five year old
on her best day.

This provides daily exercise
practicing this trick of sharing my protagonist identity
with her antagonistic causes,
needs,
wants and egocentric demands,
regarding her sacred and natural causes,

Which usually have something to do with eating
and exercise
and baths
and diaper changes
and positive social interactions,

Usually with YouTube comrades
with sacred and natural causes
involving eating impolitely
and dancing while singing obnoxious songs, repeatedly
and personal hygiene issues, offensively
and other humorous entertainment productions.

She most loves to find ways to embarrass me.

I had to put a lock on the bathroom door,
high enough so she can’t lock me out
but just right for me to lock myself in.

After a few times of having her follow me upstairs
to see if she might catch me using the toilet
or, even better, naked in the shower,
with the door unlocked,
and participating in an ongoing dialogue about privacy rights,
more relentless than merely ongoing,
heated discussions about why she is outside
while I am hiding inside,

I announced to her,
one day,
as I was heading toward the stairs,
that I was going upstairs to poop.
“Do you want to come and watch me?”

She looked up from her military-grade
bomb-proof laptop,
started to get up off the couch,
then sat back down,
No!
Why would I want to do that?

Exactly,
when I stopped hiding
I was no longer her sacred cause to seek.

I suppose we might imagine larger stages
for co-redemptive ecopolitical invitations.
It helps to have a healthy sense of humor
about your own divinely-inspired protagonist causes
for true peace and authentically restoring justice.

Showing your antagonists,
your deniers,
your ugly offenders,
your sources of trauma,
and intrusive curiosity
this more therapeutic side
of your good-humored position
may be just enough
for them to realize
you’re not quite so humorless and hopelessly abusive or neglectful
of their healthy included best interests
after all.

So,
maybe it’s OK
to lighten up
and watch to see who laughs last
and longest
together.

Or,
as in this domestic case of bathroom privacy,
laugh quietly
and more peacefully
apart.

Living With Deplorable Adorables

I know if I say
That reeks, deplorable,
She will only be persuaded
all the more,
That is adorable.

Then I might say
I meant intolerable,
And she will insist
I remain adorable,
with a dismissive smile
toward my alien intolerance
as bigotry.

Then I will remind her
I still deplore,
And she’ll,
I still adore.

And so we go.

witnesses,
sainted Elder listening trees
once residents of a virgin forested river bank,
to decide
whether this is a tragically and naturally petty river
of reiterating toxins
or benign family shorthand
for future stand-up spiritual comedy skits.

Whether this is more of natural evolution
