Balancing EcoPolitical Systems

Balanced systems normally calibrate
through double-negative dipolar feedback loops,
in which a change in one cause
incites an oppositional change in another effect,
so they balance each other out over reiterative adjusting time.

Hungry systems eat.
Devouring systems become satiated systems, potentially,
or at least less hungry systems.

Time-to-stop feedback,
time-to-start feedback,
are two nondual dipolar faces of reciprocity,
a hypostatic union of internal causal subsystem
and responsively effected/affected/effective environmental subsystem
co-creating mutual sustainability climates
and landscapes,
mutually echoing
dipolar co-arising
ecosystems,
discerning reiterative delineations
between 0-sum optimizing WinWin outcomes
and 0-sum suboptimizing WinLose competitions,
heading toward runaway LoseLose.

Double negative feedback loops
are also positive/negative mutual sufficiency feedback loops
accessible to double-bound listeners,
also responsive co-empathic,
polypathic loops feeding and starving back
to strengthen WinWin self-as-part-of-other ecosystemic disciplines,
building resistance to runaway viruses
taking too monoculturally much
through WinLose competitively suboptimizing acclimations
not yet fully resolved WinWin potentiated.

Ego survivalist rampage
is the monolithic megalopolis monster
recreated in reverse of creation stories,
in which antiheroes encourage us to recoil
from greedy hoarding feedback loops within.

Like looking in the mirror
expecting to find a positive healthy democrat,
and finding a too-fat plutocrat
still hungry for yet more
instead.

The Senior Center’s Budgeting Party

We started slow and old-growth
yet steady.

The Senior Democrats
and Republicans
and Libertarians
and Independents
hosted a Community Integrity budgeting party.

Party favors were ballots
with options for small,
medium,
large,
and extra large service sectors
beginning with agriculture and permaculture support
and ending with zoning and long-term planning expenses;
the whole A through Z list of community services
we want for and with each other,
sometimes less,
sometimes more,
yet always competing less for cooperative more.

This Community Integrity Party
looked and felt like
an Old-Growth ReForesting Party.

We began with separate caucuses
to discern these diverse quantitative options
as to their quality of cooperative root systemic investment.

Education small
would remove more holistic arts and therapies
of music and dance troupes and bands
and choreographed orchestrations,
organic and regenerative harvesting and replanting
rhythms and harmonies,
painting murals of hope
and writing sonnets of creatively
and re-creatively
healing history.

No one liked that,
although some Old-Growth Republicans began to look wistful.

Education medium
was Business As Boringly Usual.
Budgets to feed evolving minds and bodies
competing with investments in more sewer lines
feeding our rivers less toxins
yet not feeding our top reforesting soil more fertility.

Education large
began with cooperatively owned and managed pre-schools
and ended with post-doctoral studies
in synergetic community as forestry enrichment
for optimizing mutual health-wealth
ethical and aesthetic designs.

Education extra large
suggested listening and learning would become our primary mission,
non-violent service of and for our municipality,
cooperative ownership and governance
of regenerative,
annually reiterative,
Slow and Old-Growth ReEducation Parties,
plantings,
feeding symbiotic organic fertilizers
to harvest health and wealth optimizing economic
and political outcomes.

Once the three caucuses were finished,
we formed one party circle
to compare reforesting notes,
to look for harmonies
and dissonance,
to see what both could together teach us
about further listening and learning
who to nominate as Community Integrity candidates.

We started our reforesting inside and out party
slow and old-growth steady,
study,
then began raising young candidates
to manage family and community integrity,
living in and on our slow and old-growth reforesting
Cooperative NonViolent Education Planet.

Energy descent
need not predict financial descent
by inviting cooperative ownership and governance instead.

Just as democratizing love descent
need not predict hate and terror and paranoid acceleration
when love could invite more polypathic
and polyphonic

instead.

Industrial Capitalization Game-Over
when positive energy invites more diastatic flowing landscapes,
cultures of regenerative health

and not so much our weeds.

Eyes are for seeing.

Growing Healthy Systems

In nature,
as in spiritual development,
faith systems and trust systems
that remain immature
while yet growing rapidly,
in a cultural and environmental situation of surplus “free” energy,
nutritional resources,
tend to dominate through competitive relationships,
WinLose monopolistic gamesmanship.

More mature and wiser natural-spiritual ecosystems,
in which there is little “free” surplus energy
show a high degree of mutualistic
symbiotic
primal Yang-Yin ecopolitical relationship.

Morbidly immature and weaker natural-spiritual systems,
not finding gratitude for sufficiency of Gaia’s “free” healthy wealth resources
show a high degree of rabid
terrorizing
adolescent
violent
LeftBrain
Either/Or
Win/Lose oppositional paranoid greed disorder,
yangLeft dominant so yinRight recessive,
ecopolitical mistrust
and absence of healthy cooperative nature-spirit relationships,
dipolar-appositional
and co-arising,
like grace and gratitude,

In nature,
as in spiritual development,
not stuck in competitive immature

The umbilical cord
connecting Left-dominant Yang
with Right-integrative Yin
stretches back to alga and fungus,
symbiotically congressed as bilateral lichen.

Lichens are a couple of specifics
within which the hybrid whole revolutionarily erupts
more than the zero-sum
of its equivalent dipolar alga and fungus parts,
symbiotic co-arising functions,
like Yang with Yin,
like side-by-side universal ego-hunters
of nutritional souls,
and networked unitarian eco-gatherers
integrating their diverse absorption,
recreating ecopolitical healthy productions.

I like money.
But, I like it like soul food and jazz,
not like worshiping an omnipotent Patriarchal God.

I like money
because I like investing
in myself and others I trust
to return to Earth
nutritional investments of gratitude
for Her grace,
which is not the same thing as abundant capital
for playing WinLose Games
but might be the same as cooperative capital investments
in WinWin co-opportuning
ecological economic-political Gaming PersonShip,
returning grace from Goddess Gaia,
our shared Holonic BiLateral Spirit
of EarthJustice WuWei Revolutions
for climates and cultures of health.

I like cooperatively investing money
because that is one capitalistic way
to give back
and pay-value-forward,
trusting abundant nutrition will follow,
beans with cornbread
and Ella
and Billy
and even Stranger Fruit.

HolyGaia Spirits

I wonder if one human life
comes with opportunities to try again.

TimeLine Do-Overs.

I wish I could have taught my kids,
and my neighbors’ kids,
and your kids,
that the Holy Spirit is to Christianity
as the Gaia Hypothesis is to EarthJustice and Peace,
to Bodhisattva Warriors,
to secular humanist ecologist atheists,
to Taoists,
to Buddhists,
to the Original Tribes of holonic-organic animists,
nature-spirit nondual co-arising worshipers
of each sunrise,
each life as gift,
grace,
sacrament,
wonder and awe,
not quite so much competitive,
win some but eventually lose it all
shock and awe.

The Gaia Hypothesis
plays a WinWin dominant game
as a creolizing
matriarchal-patriarchal equivalent
co-messianic ecopolitical economy of co-redemption,
Works for me
as both Earth-regenerative natural process
and HolySpirit-cooperative spiritual progress.

There is indeed something childlike
inherent in this view of Gaia as Sacred WinWin Ecology,
perhaps in a Gregory Bateson sense,
shared DNA-RNA memories
of Mother’s sacredly nutritious embryonic womb,
when communication about mutual health care-giving and -receiving
required no LeftBrain words not yet learned,
and yet infant production and host consumption levels
across the double-boundary of womb and embryonic new life
balanced cooperatively co-empathic
or both would perish as one Gaia Spirit.

Everything I have learned about life in the real world
other than this Virginal Gaia Spiritual experience
of matriarchal nurturing flow
to maintain bilateral primal relationships,
has fallen a bit patriarchally short of my initial anticipation,
expectations of meeting others
originally baptized in polypathic Gaia Holiness Spirit
and not really needing to remind their kids
that our shared HolySpirit is to multiculturing religions
as the Gaia Hypothesis is to polyculturing healthier outcomes.

I wonder if I had planted this message back twenty years ago
might Gaia as HolySpirit
sound less hypothetical,
and more exegetical,
today.

Ecological Imperative

Ecologists seem more aware
than economic and political scientists
and capital and democracy leaders of state investments,
of the remarkable multi-functionality of natural systems,
like trees,
and river valleys
and their forests
with canopies of shade
enlightened from above by sun,
glimmered by moon and starlight,
creating energy,
nutrition,
predators and prey, but also beauty,
health and pathology,
feeding and bleeding co-invested systems
of interdependent relationships.

While multi-functionality of organic systems
is a complicated array of niches,
these are not just the economist’s consumer market niches
or just producers of goods and bads through labor,
through both WinLose and WinWin Games,
but more like all of the above.

This comes to mind
because as I have earned the perspective
of multi-functioning economic and political decades,
as both consumer and producer,
I have also noticed that polarized U.S. elected officials,
especially those working in, or even near,
our infamous District of Columbia,
have reduced the citizenry
to producers of tax revenues and votes,
expecting to consume diminishing returns
of peace and justice,
to expect Business As Usual,
a drought of functionality,
dwindling absence of Constitutionally protected returns
for health
happiness
and mutually cooperative prosperity.

Ecologists
and other health v pathology students,
learn to become more aware of the reciprocal,
perhaps even contagious,
relationships between producers giving care
and consumers receiving healthy care.

I don’t see many elected folks
working and living in our public sector
burning the midnight oil
pondering together
how to become more multi-functional care-givers
and care-receivers,
which requires cooperation more
and competition for votes and tax dollars less.

As a wanna-be culture of healthy ecopolitics,
we are too capital-mesmerized
by our own recent investment histories
in unhealthy pathologies,
driven to capture what’s left of value
on the verge of a no longer merely impending
humane energy production descent,
choking on our own culture of BadNews
competing consumer markets of polarizing pathology.

If economists and political scientists
and dipolar ecopolitical practitioners
like me
and you
and our families,
and our communities,
and our States,
and our Nations,
and our anthro-centric global population
were to burn what’s left of the midnight oil
discerning together this basic functionality
of balancing consumer markets for health and happiness
and producer forces and contagious flows
for cooperative wealth thereof,
WinWin Both-And options only,
like forest systems of democratic trees,
and other living, breathing cultures of Earth’s health,
I wonder if the return on our votes and tax investments
in mutual-care receiving
may pay off more robustly,
resonantly,
cooperatively,
organically,
permaculturally,
ecologically,
not quite so pathologically
polarized WinLose competitions.
