I like money.
But, I like it like soul food and jazz,
not like worshiping an omnipotent Patriarchal God.

I like money
because I like investing
in myself and others I trust
to return to Earth
nutritional investments of gratitude
for Her grace,
which is not the same thing as abundant capital
for playing WinLose Games
but might be the same as cooperative capital investments
in WinWin co-opportuning
ecological economic-political Gaming PersonShip,
returning grace from Goddess Gaia,
our shared Holonic BiLateral Spirit
of EarthJustice WuWei Revolutions
for climates and cultures of health.

I like cooperatively investing money
because that is one capitalistic way
to give back
and pay-value-forward,
trusting abundant nutrition will follow,
beans with cornbread
and Ella
and Billy
and even Stranger Fruit.

When a plant
an organism
a biological system
is young,
this is nature’s season
for segregation and simplification,
specialization.

emphasizing integrity over segregation,
polypathic and polyphonic-nutritional complexity
over Either/Or
Win/Lose
LeftBrain dominant over-simplification.

Both/And
matriarchal
reverse-hierarchical
midlife crisis revolutions
reweave purpose and meanings of day and night together,
life and co-redemptive losses and suffering,
Yang strength and Yin-flowing nurture,
polycultural integrity
revolutionarily new-delineating
notnot bilateral LoseLose segregations of history,
suddenly opening new vistas for cultural creolization,
WinWin complex resolutions
for natural cultures sustaining balancing climates
of ego/ecosystemic harmonic health.

When we are young,
post-revolutionary embryonic,
we develop toward maturity
through deductive dominance of simplifications
and segregating cultures and language.
Yet, to grow into grace-abundant harvest,
summer’s Yang vigor
increasingly embraces Yin’s flowing integrity
and interdependent cooperative networks
of bilateral-appositional politics,
dipolar co-arisings
of old simplifications in newly resonant amplifications
to support future and past and present regenerations,
cultures of health,
integrating both internal economic climates
and external political nurturing landscapes.

I wonder if one human life
comes with opportunities to try again.

TimeLine Do-Overs.

I wish I could have taught my kids,
and my neighbors’ kids,
and your kids,
that the Holy Spirit is to Christianity
as the Gaia Hypothesis is to EarthJustice and Peace,
to Bodhisattva Warriors,
to secular humanist ecologist atheists,
to Taoists,
to Buddhists,
to the Original Tribes of holonic-organic animists,
nature-spirit nondual co-arising worshipers
of each sunrise,
each life as gift,
grace,
sacrament,
wonder and awe,
not quite so much competitive,
win some but eventually lose it all
shock and awe.

The Gaia Hypothesis
plays a WinWin dominant game
as a creolizing
matriarchal-patriarchal equivalent
co-messianic ecopolitical economy of co-redemption,
Works for me
as both Earth-regenerative natural process
and HolySpirit-cooperative spiritual progress.

There is indeed something childlike
inherent in this view of Gaia as Sacred WinWin Ecology,
perhaps in a Gregory Bateson sense,
shared DNA-RNA memories
of Mother’s sacredly nutritious embryonic womb,
when communication about mutual health care-giving and -receiving
required no LeftBrain words not yet learned,
and yet infant production and host consumption levels
across the double-boundary of womb and embryonic new life
balanced cooperatively co-empathic
or both would perish as one Gaia Spirit.

Everything I have learned about life in the real world
other than this Virginal Gaia Spiritual experience
of matriarchal nurturing flow
to maintain bilateral primal relationships,
has fallen a bit patriarchally short of my initial anticipation,
expectations of meeting others
originally baptized in polypathic Gaia Holiness Spirit
and not really needing to remind their kids
that our shared HolySpirit is to multiculturing religions
as the Gaia Hypothesis is to polyculturing healthier outcomes.

I wonder if I had planted this message back twenty years ago
might Gaia as HolySpirit
sound less hypothetical,
and more exegetical,
today.

Integrate
rather than segregate.

Yin
rather than too much Yang dominance.

At least in the worlds of Permaculture Design
and Systems Theory
and Democratic Political Theory,
Polycultural outcomes
are healthier
and thereby wealthier,
than monoculturing economic and political,
ecopolitical-psychological
and social and cultural
and any system-balancing
obectives.

Monocultural objectives
in an overripe infestation time
can produce rabidly aggressive polarities
overpowering and devouring prey,
sources of nutrition and energy and fuel,
to a tipping point beyond regenerative replacement.
Sated monocultural predator overpopulations
on climatic edge
of hunger and thirst
for former neighbors,
now heading toward decline,
extinguished by supremacist WinLose Players,
populations,
species,
acting like cats
living on a continent of catnip,
constipated and out of nutritional balance,
satiated
just as catnip energy is at point of crisis.

Cats facing decline,
gradually wondering if they will have to end
by preying on each others’ young,
or escape this over-catted
monoculturing WinLose monopoly game
conclusion
to catnip bloated dominant patterns
learned from catnip-hungry teachers
and mentors,
parents and siblings.

So, whether cat or human,
designing and learning to cooperatively integrate
our integration objectives
is not just better
but healthier
and thereby wealthier,
more democratically effective,
more economically nutritional,
and more ego/eco-bilateral balancing
than segregating ego-centric
ethno-centric
anthro-centric
racist
sexist
ageist
xenophobic
paranoid
supremacist
monoculturing trends
toward dissonance and despair.

To paraphrase David Holmgren,
regarding human waste and effects of polluting Earth,
“Declining [health] energy availability
will shift the general [ecopolitical-psychological] perception
of these [cooperative symbiotic relationship] concepts
from romantic idealism
[RightBrain marginalization]
to practical necessity.”

When we recall
we are an inherently ecopolitical species,
cooperative integrity unveils a primal practiced necessity
of Mother Earth’s gift-it-forward (0)-sum nutritional economy.
Then gratitude and grace
become as accessible to atheists,
and Bodhisattva Warriors,
and CoMessiahs,
to peace martyrs and justice prophets
as to any newborn on Earth,
learning embryonic embrace of matriarchal root systems,
womb through tomb lifetime co-investments
open to Earth’s regenerative gifts
of health as wealthiest nurture
of polycultural development,
healthier than segregating supremacist degeneration,
climate pathological objectives,
nihilistic WinLose planning
as if economic wealth optimization
could be rooted in segregated capital vaults
not investing in mutual Earth-Gratitude Integrity.

Interdependently integrate all positive nutritional trends
rather than merely segregate your negative ecopolitical predations,
victimizations and criminalizations,
from whom we truly have become,
for now.

Adopt active cooperativity
rather than adapt to fear and anger tolerance
much less mongering.
Both integration and segregation are mutually contagious.
One feeds love,

Why is it
those who reside in mental hospitals
find themselves struggling to remember
This is supposed to be a hospital,
and not a prison for society’s revenge?

Why is it
those who find themselves imprisoned
struggle to remind themselves
and each other

and not an insanely vengeful mental hospital?

Why is it
bondage breeds violence
as freedom feeds cooperative democracy,
mutual empowerment?

Why is it
defending capital-hoarding elites
breeds criminalization and militarization,
while freeing human natures
to embrace all Earth’s nature-spirits
feeds ecological democracy
to polypathically grow,
contagiously expand in joy
and wonder
and mutual awe?

I hope we can help ourselves
and each other
become quieter,
more leisurely,
generous,
grateful,
graceful dancers of sound
rhythm

voices of color
to see and hear these quieter vibrations
of wildness.

Wildness
wilderness
relatively untouched forests of mountains
and oceans,
rivers
lakes
ponds
swamps of wildness
for quiet forms of song and Earth dance.

Dance
moving to louder voices of climate pathology
and landscape erosion
decomposition of home and safety,
but also quieter dance
of witness
stalking visual prey
we would not violate with unwanted harming touch,
turning and swirling whorls of joy
quiet
yet also loud tornadoes
hurricanes
tsunamis whirling wildly loud.

Loud dance thrashing
climates of disarray
for smaller subclimates within
remaining wildness of species memory.

Memory of meadow walks
and naked tree climbing
swinging dances with polyphonic gendered nature
nurturing quieter wilderness
teaching slowing leisurely dance
through each day
returning to healthy full moon wealth
of wildness,
ecodancing movement to sound
and pause for silent graced lines
of sight.

Sights of quieter fragrance
and pungent distant fear
remembering mountain
ocean
water and air
fire and Earth’s Wildness
dancing loud pathologies
of Her majesty and awful wonder
reminding me and us
to respect our wise gratitude
for quieter voices and movements of nature
teaching grace as gratitude
for wilderness within
as wisely without you and I.

I hope I can help
grow quieter listeners
of wildness songs sung together
with dancing graceful pause,
wish for wilderness witnessing partners,
mutually stalking copresence
within Earth’s cooperative quiet majesty,
ecodancing drums
too anthro-discentering loud,
yet sometimes refreshingly polypathic quieter journeys
dancing softly hummed,
paused within echoing forests
of bounding binding wonder.

Inside Outdoor Voices

Just as honesty plants seeds of integrity
so too
vulnerability plants seeds of honesty.

My primary vocation
in this my gay grandfatherly retiring age
is to parent mindbody challenged adolescents
of diverse colors
as ecotherapeutically as possible
to optimize their and our wealth
of health,
growing nutritional elements and moments
into humanely co-operative organisms
with good days
more than bad.

More or less like watering the flowers
and ignoring the weeds,
or, better yet,
repurposing the weeds,
redirecting their potential energy
in a more nutritiously nurturing way.

My kids not only are vulnerable,
they know they are vulnerable,
and this tends to make them exceedingly honest
with themselves
with me
with each other
about what is funny and what is tragedy.

They are easy to parent
in this way.
Yet this same vulnerability
is their greatest risk
in a too often competitive,
and mindless of other’s special needs,
world.

We communicate connected to the feeling level,
even while learning the ABCs,
the 1 through 100 percents of good and bad numbers
and proportions and balance and symmetry,
the drawing of self-portraits,
homes,
Earth and Her Sun.

Often these inside feeling voices
do not feel well enough to care about the ABC’s,
or even the needs of those we need to love
and to love us,
to be as lovely with as possible.
Inside feeling voices
become loud and angry and hurt outside voices.

I noticed this the other day
when old family friends dropped by.
Not quite as old as I
and therefore much less retired
from life’s exterior competitions.

When we had time to visit several times per week,
we often began together
checking in about how our inside voices were feeling today,
happy or sad,
depressed or triumphant,
and usually some more richly nuanced place between.

Then we would turn to our big outdoor voices.
What we were working and playing on and with
in our back and front and side-yards,
the gardens and woodlands of our productive nutritional lives,
how the pets and pests
and domestic egg-layers were feeling,
and why
and why not.

These two voices generally resonated with each other.
What we were working on with Outdoor Voices
said something about nutrition and health we were working on
as individuals
as a family
with our Inside Voices,
and vice versa.

Only then,
if there was nothing else to do,
no further outdoor recreations
and discernment projects,
would we return to more
yet less intimate and vulnerable
Indoor Voices.
Work and play projects in perpetual interior process.
The noticing of more ornamental acquisitions
like ceiling and wall and floor coverings,
safer boundaries
about what we could see together
through all those more interior feelings
and thoughts about relationships,
past and future and present interactions,
transactions of value and disvalue,
warmth and cooler apathy.

I remembered this yesterday
when old friends,
no longer neighbors, revisited
and we began with new floor and ceiling coverings
and ended with farewell.
They arrive so late
it is already past time to be back home
to get ready for another Indoor Voices
monotonous
monoculturing day.

Which, this morning,
results in feeling blessed
to be here in this time and place
to listen and speak at our leisure
with my vulnerable no-boundary kids,
outrageously honest about their nutritional needs
and wants,
speaking with full volume integrity
in both Inside Outdoor Voices,
health
meets and greets and eventually defeats
pathology,
through honest integrity
of repurposing redirection,
feeding the flowers
and noticing how funny the weedy Outdoor Voices
sound indoors
feeling our way through the ABCs
and the 1 through 100% flowering days
and mean weedy nights.

I’m surprised and disappointed
my former neighbors didn’t notice all the new fruit trees
and berry bushes
poppies and lilies
strawberries and tomatoes
onions and garlic
asparagus and rhubarb,
and 17 new solar panels on the roof!

My kids could care less
and probably never more
what our old friends did
and did not
notice,
other than their own Voices
vulnerably maturing into integrity,
I hope.

Still,
I’m glad they noticed,
because the liked,
the new floor and ceiling covers.

Gift Horses

If we want to improve our shared climates,
and our interior, more guardedly intimate and vulnerable,
climates,
then we best cooperatively manage our nutritional/toxic landscapes.

Annual planning by individuals and families
seldom hopes to regenerate ecosystemic climate health,
but can realistically engage in discernment of healthy landscapes,
interior and exterior.

Combined and shared within a healthy democratic culture,
our cumulative ego/ecotherapeutic intent,
planning,
implementation,
evaluation
are our best cycle of hope and positive multiculturing faith
toward global climate health,
and not so much internal/external pathology.

To fully embrace a gift,
especially those inherited from our Elders
and perhaps still accessible for our children
and their children,
is to invite our climates and landscapes as sacred ecological grace
and also to accept responsibility
for gifts uses,
maintenance and repair,
eventual repurpose,
recycling any degenerative waste produced
as a questionable gift
for Earth’s next generation of interdependent species,
and the next…
for how many generations?

Gifts, like sacraments, bring gratitude
for changing new authorities over resources,
nutritional flow of opportunities
but with a potential risk of responsibility
for contributing to our children’s toxic waste stream.

A principle of Permaculture Design
endorses planning from broader spacetime pattern
of spring through winter climates
and back to spring again patterns first,
then look more closely
deeply in to more specific landscape networking details
of regenerative authorities
inherited from Elders
and degenerative responsibilities,
healthy production flows
and unhealthy waste streams
left to and for fragile future new-growth regenerators
and vulnerable degenerators.

Which is why,
contrary to what my grandfather advised,
I am learning to look even gifted horses
in their mouths
to count the landscape costs
and to appreciate climate details
of healthy horsepowered teeth,
devouring and recreating sacred ecosystems,
regenerative and decomposing change.
