Personal Ecstasy v Political Enchantment

Do you sense a difference
between ecstasy
and enchantment?

Ecstasy draws me out of my ego,
my body
my mind
my autonomous autumnal consciousness,
winter isolated awareness.

And enchantment?

Enchantment draws me in.
More of a seduction,
maybe even curious
invitation.

Ecstasy sounds louder,
bolder,
short-term climatic
and requires loss of ego-centered monopoly games

While enchantment may include promise
of all that bluster
and outsidedness
yet adds the longer sunlight summer
before and after relationship
of seduced out
fascinated
hypnotically co-empathic internal root induction,
promising integrity’s path of quieter seduction,
restoring internal becomings with external belongings

Yet to magically
climatically
mythically appear
on life’s Yang ecstatic
Yin enchanting
horizon of newborn
politically green
spring.

There’s political engagement
Then personal wedding
Then ego/ecopolitical re-engagement
of every spring through winter daily choices.

Enchanting Mother Fish

To find enchanting integrity,
She transparently confronts her disenchantments
with present and past toxic flow,
disempowering absences of synergetic experience,
like rape and enslavement and aggressive commodification,
disharmonic songs
without time and space
for proper therapeutic dance,
desecrating liturgies of everyday.

Disenchantment
unveils what and where
and when and why
newborn
we belong within enchantment,
ecstatic and just plain ornery
ordinary static.

And yet,
we focus on this polarity
as if any one day and night
were all positive ecstasy
or negative static
while darker disenchanting days
of rain and pain
can bring ecotherapeutic memories
of sunny gains
through past regenerations
more than mere degeneration.

As EarthMothers often say
among our own schooling selves
and to our spawning young:

Bad days and nights,
We will know these,
climate health and pathology,
as we also hope for delights.

Choose battles,
Pick poisons,
don’t gulp them all.
Some are more disenchanting nights
with longer darker terms,
more seductively yet reductively
unveiling memory’s disenchanting dust
through past enchantments.

Unorthodox disenchanting rust
unveils potential
for integrity’s more enchanting return
to grace of well-sung cooperative place
and beauty’s eternally relentless face,

absence of disenchanting disgrace.

Disenchantment with personal

and religious

and global disabilities
on our worst chaotic dismal days
haunting through our relentlessly stuck nightmares

as enchanting special abilities

As other people’s creation stories,
then other species’ narratives
turn from mere entertaining escapes
from our daily addiction

So, like I said

“Systems Thinking for Social Change.”

With four primal turning and returning seasons
