My Perfect President

Open letter to President Obama:

9/17/2015

Two things. A thank you, and a suggestion for our shared global future, confronting increasingly rapid climatic, with concomitant cultural and economic, transitions.

First, thank you for the pleasure of watching and listening to your comparative political and economic sanity for the past eight years. Enthusiastically voting for you twice, although you are not my “perfect” candidate, was such a relief and pleasure. And, your performance in what appears to be a largely thankless and hopeless position, has been graceful and sometimes even respectful of honest differences in priority. When comparing our financial investment in your presidential campaigns, and the cost to your personal integrity, to any positive health and well-being return, I see where this may have made sense for the rest of us, but I find it miraculous that you so generously accept your losses, along with your wins.

Second, my suggestion moves toward optimizing political and economic potential for addressing what we have labeled “climate warming,” but is actually the multisystemic problem of over-heated climate change. You seem to see the difference, and recognize the awesome scale of this challenge, especially during the already-shrinking projected normal life spans of our children, and grandchildren. So the requisite motivation to recognize and accept climate change as our most profoundly significant “well-being” global rights issue, as well as a national issue, you already have in your pocket.

No doubt you have noticed by now that even the President of the United States and the General Secretary of the United Nations, perhaps those two positions even more so than for all of us regular folks, daily confront a huge gap between what you are motivated to do and what you are powerful enough to accomplish. With political empowerment comes greater global and cultural and socioeconomic responsibilities, and aspirations. If you are any good as a person at all, I think you step into this larger-scale of consciousness, and you and your family do appear to be very good people indeed.

Perhaps helpful, with regard to our political “stuckness”, I am also noticing a considerable growth and refinement of two paradigms that appear to be co-arising toward nonduality, which, if you are familiar with Buddhist and/or Taoist philosophy, is the kind of evolution that has a way of becoming revolutionary, in a positive way. These two paradigms are Permaculture Design (and Development) and New (Feminist) Economics.

Each of these paradigms analyzes Business As Usual to point toward our urgent need for cultural and economic local-scaled cooperative-nurturing systems (including healthier ecosystems) to replace our current messiness. Business As Usual includes Win-Lose Game Theory, Left-brain dominant deduction, competition, economic and evolutionary cultural dynamics of entropic-trending dysfunction and over-specialization.

Since retiring from grant and program development for Connecticut human service agencies, I have been reading economics as presented by Riane Eisler (The Real Wealth of Nations), John Michael Greer (The Wealth of Nature), and Charles Eisenstein (Sacred Economics). Each is brilliant and together they shape an economic dipolar pattern contrasting Received View financial growth as economic wealth with a newer, more cooperative-centric economics of health, positive nutrition:

  • healthy production balancing consumption, and
  • polycultural health as root-value measure of wealth regeneration within eco-logically cooperative systems that today emerge from our current exponentially-growing global consensus that well-being has already begun trending toward decomposition.

Permaculturists, from Laotse through Buckminster Fuller and on to today’s booming industry of healing Earth and residents thereof, take as much interest in the ecological balance of regeneration and decomposition as economists invest in expanding v. contracting economic health of production/consumption systems.

Eisenstein (2011) calls the New Economics “sacred” economics, but, boiled down into natural system language, his sacred might be translated with Buckminster Fuller’s synergy; a positive-trending cooperatively-evolving dynamic integrity of health trend systems design and development. Further, Eisenstein seems to interpret “divine,” as contrasted to profane, as integrity v. deductive-reductive-redactive competing identities and independently eisegetical understanding. It is a profane Business As Usual culture assuming oppositional either-or Win-Lose evolutionary strategies and logistics, when it is more ectosymbiotically integrative to heuristically hold both-and Win-Win appositional challenges and comparisons and tipping-points, leading toward nondual co-arising strategies and more comprehensive polycultural consciousness.

What are Win-Win cooperative political, economic, and ecological outcomes that are achievable given the current climate in Washington, the U.S., and Earth?

I think we already do agree on, and are united within, one primary concern: How can I (and we)

  • invest in optimizing my health and well-being,
  • assure the right of full healthy development of my dependents, and all I love,
  • continue learning and mentoring wise and natural-systemic discernment, rather than merely learning to produce and consume more efficiently,
  • prudently invest my life exclusively within long-term just-right maturation, by avoiding short-term high risk gains in a sense of wealth that has become divorced from health of life’s intrinsically regenerative value.

We could each and all choose to invest our balancing budgets in cooperative economic industry, vocations, residences, communities, local ecosystems and polyculturally inclusive transformations of monoculturally silo-entropic decomposition, or Win-Lose Business As Usual. This choice of cooperative polycultural development over competitively self-isolating monocultures reflects the permaculturist’s approach to each site for redesign, but also our approach to each day, each life, each word and communication choice, each food and recreation choice. It seems possible to recognize that Martin Luther King’s Beloved Community is equivalent to the permaculturist’s Climax Community and the cooperative economist’s 7-Generation planning for optimal life-sustaining cooperative health-investment networks; where health is interpreted as broadly as Thich Nhat Hanh’s positive nutrition for all the senses, most definitely including aesthetic health, proportion, rhythm, patterns of form, function, and frequency.

If  all life, and future human quality of life in all its diversity of colors and cultures, matters, this new economic permacultural paradigm could be the basis of

  • deep learning theories in public education,
  • taught to every politician entering elected office,
  • every military strategy leader and teacher,
  • every policy analyst and designer,
  • every government employee and volunteer and intern training program, including the Peace Corp and AmeriCorp/VISTA.

Turning public education and public financial investment away from supporting further monoculturally-trending competition, and toward healthy polyculturally-trending cooperative systems and networks, could work for both sides of the nation’s partisan aisle.

This would be an impressive way to both exit as President, and enter as what Laotse would call a sagacious ruler; a permaculturally proficient polyculturist of cooperative economics, natural evolutionary relationships, and ecological well-being. That is what I would wish for you and your family, as I wish for mine.

Haunting Endless Waves

What co-arises together
must co-exhale to part.

Last night my HIV+ hunted down my negative,
my darkside,
death and fear,
my anger about my mortality,
my greater anger about our mortality as a species,
my greatest anger about our mortality as Earth’s DNA/RNA Tribes of Life,
that we all are so wrong and pointless
given limitations of our time’s memory
riding,
hiding,
hunting inside our skin
for how to not let this incarnate hunt ever end.

Yet, with dawn’s light,
solely this haunting by endless nothingness,
as if we had never become, so never been,
this fear of death and anger against its organic final demand,
we hope to end
with seamless faith in eternally timeless ego-identity.

Where did this ego emerge from?
Endless nothingness?
Or, a paradise womb of cooperative eco-normics,
eco-logically self-optimizing nutritional health,
perfect temperature care,
nurturing co-abundance
between this seed of ego and this Mother Earth Elder EcoSystem,
sufficient well-being wealth
which, as decomposed,
became exegetical syntax,
elements with dynamic flows and functions
progenerated by co-arising gravity of time’s folding
and refolding revolutions,
the stardust structure of Father Time’s seasonal
reasonal
primally relational language.

How do we ecologically reason and induce,
expand and contract,
regenerate and decompose,
produce and consume,
this emergent hypothesis about ego’s deadly nondual co-arising,
inevitability?
Just how frightening and maddening is this,
to embrace
absorb
devour
soak up
co-prehend
co-science
co-arise to co-decompose
integrative/disintegrative folds
of cosmologically progenitive
dual-destiny transparent
Eco-Time’s co-arising/co-densing identity?

Nature hunts health

What meaning could “Universe” have outside our hunt for why

to optimize co-arising healthy hunts
to extinguish co-victimization?

Universe is everything, all space through time,
so could not be contained within any deductive-only label,
closed-set assumption of formed logic.

Universe becomes uni-verb,
universing folds and unfolds our binomial,
bicameral co-arising hunt for conscious co-prehension
of Earth Tribe’s dual-transparent Prime Relationship Elder,
as Duelling Destiny,
both hunter and hunted egos searching ecologic
as cooperative economic principles of health as wealth
absorb our permacultured decomposition
of co-arising nondual thermodynamic balance
and sustained health.

Earth is our home,
our communal hunting soil and soul
for why healing nature
co-arises natural health of human nature.

Time’s eternal bilateral nondual answer
balances our humane cultural praxis,
regenerating recreative hunters and gatherers

with sole intention of becoming Beloved hunted nurturing entities.

then why and how this universal hunt for healthy life
would emerge transparently self-evident.

recycling abundantly balancing regenerative life,
unfolds fear of fears to refold sustaining love through time.

Fear and anger meet in hated haunted hunting death,
each event a primally significant tipping point,
risk and opportunity to co-arise mutual mentorships
for permacultured hunter-learners,
as ecotherapeutic co-redeemers.

Co-arising gratitude communes with hunting natural prime relationship,

as we globally evolve this comprehension

Knowing Hate: Growing Health

“He who is contented is rich
He who is determined has strength of will.”

Those who would be effective
and are also ripe for effectiveness,
when contented,
this is contentment with healthy growth
to share our strength of cooperative will.
When determined,
this is determination to continue optimizing contentment
within growing healthy wealth–
doing what is nutritious for yourself,
and those you meet.

Hatred is a love void,
a hybrid of two fuels,
remembered anger co-arising future fear;
these three an unholy trinity of discontentment,
dissonance within the more inclusive potentiality of confluence.

Hate is to ego-centric survival
as love is to eco-centering thrival.

Noticing our hate-power,
whether directed exclusively toward self
or more heatedly encompassing another,
or even the sociopathology of including all others,
is our greatest opportunity,
and risk,
for changing our world through active love.

What do you hate to love
and love to hate?
Struggling with this dissonance
rather than struggling against this chaos
is important to personal and public discernment,
bringing our diverse ego-anthro centers
into nondual co-arising alignment with EarthTribe’s eco-center.

Thrival of the fitting-est,
most synergetic relationship network
presents a loving polycultural environment,
co-operatively Win-Win rooted
to co-arise positive teleology
of all creative natural systems.
Our deepest ecological meaning
is our richest healthy love of self with others.

Hate presents opportunity for determined internal challenge,
within our species, our localities, our families, our individual ego-selves.
This unholy combination of anger about, and fear of, ego-loss and decay
and deadly dissonance
feels more productive as an internal rivalry,
endosymbiotic challenge rather than ectosymbiotic war,
hate-love rivalries,
occasional survival crises,
more frequent for those marginalized
through our collective lack of active love.

There is only the integrity of this moment’s potential
co-arising evolution from ego-loving subjects
toward our health-optimizing eco-inclusive wealth objectives.

We are this HereNow Moment’s integrative,
synergetically positive, polynomial potential,
AND we are fear+anger double-dark
not-not dia-nomial
negatively ambiguous dissonance
within Earth’s consonant harmonics,
either-or with both-and logical,
full-octave balancing polycultural freedom with integrity.

Thomas Kuhn, for example,
was scientifically revolted by incommensurable paradigms,
challenging and defeating BusinessAsUsual
with not-yet-ripe theoretical replacements,
new generations of cause-effects becoming dominant
where they had lived recessively camouflaged
in prior cooperative research within ReceivedView boundary.

Fear of incommensurability
co-arises Darwin’s problem with endosymbiotic evolution
anticipating that the rich must get richer,
without power to explain a more complex philogenetic re-creativity
and genetic interdependence,
co-arising revolutionary trends
of ectosymbiotic cooperative Win-Win evolution
regenerating a more inclusive diastatic balance
of complexly interdependent paradigms
and health/wealth eco-systems.

We each contain two nondual co-arising epicenters of consciousness,
one interior-cathected ego
informing and informed by exterior-encrypted eco-memory,
dia-nucleic double-transparently negative eco-normative
views of natural, con-scientific, scientific,
deductive/inductive
endo/ecto symbiotic evolution.

The potential of a beloved community,
or paradigm,
may resolve more ectosymbiotic hate-struggles of public dissonance
long before proving its endosymbiotic success for my ego-survival.

For anthro and all Earth Tribe thrival,
both ego and eco,
Left and Right hemispheres,
endo within ecto co-arising synergetic Win-Win enculturation,
are important,
just as this primal relationship of within/without evolution
remains important to bicameral conscientific information processors.

Our hated release of ego-center,
to transition toward eco-centrism
is not a once-then-done revolution;
it is our lifelong pilgrimage of co-arising evolution.

Unraveling dissonant ego is optimally healed by reweaving eco-normics.

Embrace our endosymbiotic struggle with self-hatred
or continue drowning in ectosymbiotically climatically critical chaos,
to learn love for hate’s co-arising cosmological consciousness.

Slavery
enslavement
force of self-imposed ownership
overpowering another’s ego-ownership,
anthro-morbid,
collective ego-morphic tolerance of identity rape,
and the fear and anger, together building hate,
from which enslavement derives;

of codependent despair,
self-hatred.

Enslaving force perpetuates Ego’s full-blown angry reduction
in self-identity,
deduction of self,
as someone who could “own” another’s Ego-healthy will
for equivalent freedom from my freedom
to enslave another’s life,
exterior and interior.

Slave and poverty development owners
internally enslaved by our own hypocritical hubris,
swimming upstream into economically encrusted perpetuation
of cognitive and affective dissonance,
chronic internal homelessness,
hopelessness that I cannot afford to be better,
healthier,
than I am.

Those nations,
corporations,
families,
individuals
codependently addicted to retaining
and further developing
vastly disproportionate wealth deposits,
divorced from our own cooperative health and well-being investments,
not only steal from those without enough to thrive,
but also slink away from our own collective mental health,
anxiously fearing freedom’s inevitable reparations,
struggling to repress awareness of nondual codependent enslavement
into entropic death of species.

Hatred combines anger about past with fear of future.
“Anger Management” politics might choose a more transparent therapeutic label,
“Hatred Co-Arising Suppression”.

Decomposing hatred first breathes through “I am Anger,”
listening for Time’s healing simmer,
then decomposing anger about past violations
to embrace rational fears of deadly toxins
enslaving your equitable prospects for a healthy future.

It feels healthy to remember we are Anger
with ourselves
and with each other,
but not against ourselves or others,
for perpetuating enslaving hatred
for stealing wealth from those without sufficient health to thrive
to feed our own unhealthy enslaving greed.

Slavery nondually imposes greedy ownership,
dreadful wealthy lust for power
co-arising with holistic health’s decreasing power,
globally and personally,
without as within.

Very bad karma,
total lack of grace,
not our way to Win-Win race.
