Power of Compassion

Most Republicans I’ve had the admittedly too infrequent pleasure
of listening to
assume financial wealth
is a greater public responsibility
and opportunity
than very much secondary social wealth
of healthy relationships,
resonant and democratically inclusive resilience.

And, Green Democrats
seem to share a world view
giving primal priority to values of social wealth,
multicultural co-investment
in people,
plants,
planetary inter-relationships,
global compassion.

So, a simple Thought Experiment
in competitive v cooperative relationality:

Imagine you are the ultimate capitalist success story
Playing a zero-sum win/lose game,
you always win,
so everybody else loses.
Eventually all financial assets,
natural resources,
human resources,
belong to you.
There remains no financial competitor left standing.
You are Earth’s omnipotent predator
of all economic value.

What happens to the value
of your capital liquid assets
at the moment you achieve
your perfect monopolistic success?
a perfect vacuum of other economic competitors?

Now, imagine social relationships
are our root source of value.

You develop cooperative relationships
that branch out into a global nurturing
and mutually nutritious network
of co-empowering healthy communication
until, finally, no one stands outside
your robust caring cooperative,
your multiculturally resonant social system.

At the exact moment of perfect synergetic interdependence,
when loneliness,
segregation,
distrust,
apartheid,
dissociation,
antagonistic lack of peaceful relationship
is nothing more than a pre-millennial memory,
what remains of your social,
multicultural
political
and cooperative economic value?

How would you ever finish spending
and extending
your social capital co-investments?

So, when Republicans
and not-so-Green Democrats
sternly inform me
We need a solid Business Model
for a robust and resilient government
and for perpetual economic growth,
I am always curious to learn
which Business Model they have in mind,

Competitive win/lose? Like capitalism,
Or cooperative win/win?
Like sacred Earth communion.

DisEmpowering The Virus

I am struggling
to avoid that “I told you so”
mean
and self-congratulatory voice.

I do feel under-appreciated
but I don’t feel any happiness
about the Virus
as vindicator of my beliefs
about the political and economic power
of public health and safety platforms,
which are also personal wealth
and fundamental security
authentic democratic health agendas.

Yesterday I went to Aldis.
I expected no hand sanitizer
but I did not have a clue
why the half-row of steel display racks
was as vacant of toilet paper
as health clinics were full
to over-stuffed with people
not suffering from diarrhea.

I expected the atmosphere
and congestion
to remind me of grocery shopping
the afternoon before a snow storm prediction.

Our mostly polite congestion was familiar
but our mutually quarantined
atmosphere of anxiety
about touching
about breathing
about coughing
and don’t even think about sneezing!
was alarming.

I found myself singing old hymns
mostly under my breath,.
Day By Day
and with each passing moment
strength I find
to live for Earth each day…

Moment by Moment
I’m touched by Earth’s care…

Somehow,
I Will Survive
didn’t come to my tight throat
or lungs.

I expected NPR
to be non-stop Virus stories
but I did not expect the powerful
multifaceted analysis
of WhiteHouse sacrificing democratic public health
to the false idols of capital marketed denial and greed
and partisan economic competitions
overwhelming public health cooperative discernment
about who we are at our best
and what multicultural resilience
we could most resonantly achieve together
tomorrow.

Our themes for dialogue
are suddenly about how to avoid panic
terror
despair.

I have known threats of panic
terror
and despair
since I realized that “climate change”
is an economic and politically chosen euphemism
for a global climate of disease,
for public health degeneration,
for macro-economic divestment
destruction
dissonance
disaster
win/lose competitions
trumping healthy win/win democratic cooperative ownership
and administration
and facilitation
and restorative justice mediation.

I notice that Wall Street,
which has persistently ignored WhiteHouse ignorance
about climate pathology
as a public economic and political
biological and neurological health disaster,
has been remarkably responsive
to WhiteHouse ignorance
about this viral public health disaster.

I notice more partisan bickering
about who will pay the highest disempowering price
for The Virus,
But I still don’t hear national partisan pundits
learning any lessons this primal ecological
theological relationship
between healthy democracy
and our basic human longing
for cooperatively wealthy health trends
might hope to teach
through compassionate communication,
community,
bicameral communion.

To paraphrase Rev. Dr. M. L. King, Jr.
Where there is climate injustice anywhere
there is pathologically viral injustice threatening everywhere.

Again, if I were running for office
as a Green Democrat
I would not be running against Trump
by vilifying his narcissistic absence of compassion
for public health,

I would run cooperatively engage all people of good faith
to embrace democratic passion for health wealthy Truth
through ego- and eco-therapeutic Reconciliation,
Restorative Justice,
Climate Health,
internal as external

Which can be at least as virally WinWin contagious
as WinLose competitions at grocery
and drug stores
and frighteningly unhealthy health clinics.

Essential Reading

When asked
by my nephew
for an essential reading list
for PermaCultural Therapeutic Design,
my Taoist thoughts went back
to Unitarian-Universalist
Yin/Yang pre-history,
when Earth produced a theologian,
Dr. Thomas Starr King (1824-1864)
reaching out for non-violent dialogue
across all global healing cultures.

This 1800s Dr. King
would-be global peacemaker
noticed
and reflected
and reconsidered humanity
both Universalist YangLeft Dominant
and Unitarian YinRight Prominent,
like EgoCreators
noticing and appreciating EcoCreations
to an Integral PermaCulturing Designer
and Restorer of EarthJust Climates,
WellTimed Nutrition Spaces,
Secular/Sacred Health/Wealth BiLateral
DiaLogical Places.

To everyone’s ecologically cooperative relief,
this Dr. King had a sense of humor,
sometimes dark
and deep,
more resonant with MoonLight seasons
than SunBright reasons

Speaking of power and energy and light,
“The Universalists…believe that God is too good
[healthy, wealthy, beautiful, trusting, radically democratic Lover]
to damn us forever;
And you Unitarians believe you are too good
[wealthy beautiful resonantly trusting and healing Creation]
to be damned.

[to be pathologized,
victim of toxic apartheid,
degenerative monoculturing climates
hellfire,
global hurricanes,
tsunamis,
drought,
pestilence,
starvation, etc.]

This Dr. King
ecological theologian
spoke with a polyculturally developed sense of irony,
and died one year before
the first National Conference of Unitarian Churches
discussed merging YangLeft Universalists
with YinRight Unitarians,

Like liberal Yankees
and confederated Rebels
inviting creolizing
multiculturing
polycultural carpet-baggers
of good faith ecological relationships
redesigning theology,

to those who would post-UnCivil War listen

for healthy democratic becoming
one cooperatively co-invested health sanctuary

Inviting a serious,
and sometimes more light-hearted
and footed
and bicameral-handed,
discussion
dialogue
discernment connecting
uniting Universalist global wealth redeemers
and healers
with Unitarian interdependent web of secular/sacred human
health/wealth pro-lifers.

Eliot’s Commission on Appraisal,
covenant for global truth and reconciliation,
reported “Unitarians should
[could, might like to]
free themselves from the sectarian spirit
[of apartheid,
bad faith,
partisan, monoculturing nature]
by cooperating more fully
[actively win/win nonzero-sum, regeneratively]

To this Taoist GreenDemocrat,
all these additional inside-voiced layers
of systems group attachment
to non-violent human compassion theory
are helpful
significant
important
yet distract from the outdoor sense of mystical humor
implied in LaoTse’s Sonnets for Self/Other
Ego/Eco GoldenRule,

Earth BiHemispheric Democratic
Health-Nutritional CoGovernance
outside as inside climate therapy,
above as below,
ecosystemic as ego-resilient
green wealth as red-blooded health.

He was too old
to speak of active hope
for ancient creamy dreams
not yet boldly told

Inviting curious homeless nomads
to imagine what we could become
if we were not yet brazenly born
into this time of tragic burning,

Into this epic brown despair
AzaRiah was innocently born
within fading red shadows

white cathedral.

She never knew an old Golden Era
of endless capital expansion
and monopolistic worship

applied to those like her,
the least and blackest last

AzaRiah’s stormy education

to ponder why 2D full moons

She was much too busy
singing with hurricane winds,

in compassion’s silent storms,

Belonging in grateful silence

Sacred Discernment

Perhaps a way to turn
from failed
and often violent
retributive justice
to grab healthy hold
of restorative justice

Would ask,
What is this deep difference
between discerning judgment
and moralistic judgment?

To discern,
and not to condemn,
is mutually empowering
and not autonomously powering over another,
against all Others potentially suspicious,
falling short of my own godlike Mark,
Imprimatur,
Papal Seal of good personal housekeeping.

Moralistic judgment
is a win/lose game
always casting oneself
and one’s own
as protagonist,
self-righteous wise Prosecutor,
representing your State’s infinite not-listening Wisdom.

Discerning judgment
is a win/win game
of cooperative
co-invested compassion.

Discerning judgment
begins with listening for what we already share
in common point of view.

Moralistic judgment
seldom finds time
for such resonant celebration
in cooperatively-held sorrow
and joy,
personal defeat
and political triumph.

Active win/win discernment
bears more humbly in mind and heart and voice,
Do not tear apart
what we can’t put back together
again
and again
and again

As faithfully as healing sunrise
and therapeutic sunset;
As mysteriously
and curiously restoring moon rise
and resonant moon fall.

Democracy On Fire

In “On Fire”
Naomi Klein reminds us
win/lose capitalism invites a collective action vacuum
and abhors restrictions on money-accumulating freedom,

But Earth,
a healthy global climate,
healthy ecosystems
invite regenerative win/win climax
of cooperatively nurturing health systems
and abhor inhumane definitions of “wealth”
as privately-held and autonomously sequestered currency
energy
natural resources
human resources
labor
equity
capital.

Climate health informs public sector values,
norms,
ecology of nutritional needs
and investment in cooperatively-held wants.

Capitalism’s monopolistic version of “wealth”
informs private sector values,
greedy and predative norms,
theology of transcendent jealousy
and divestment from sacred communion.

When Donald Trump successfully ran for President,
he explicitly ran against all things Obama,
against audacious hope in public sector cooperativism.

Like Nixon’s “Southern strategy”
this was a way
to effectively say
“I am for Straight-White-Evangelical-Male-privileged capitalism,
so I am your safest Business As Usual investment.”

This turns competitive debate
rather than cooperative dialogue,
and private sector CEO decision-making
rather than democratic grass-roots discernment,
and no public health-investment experience
into a “drain the socialist swamp” asset.

He did not mention
his nationalistic capitalism
is abhorrent to global climate health,
public health,
family health,
ecosystemic health,
ego-resilient health,
all of which are rooted in EarthJustice wealth,
regenerative action and win/win response
inviting cooperative social climax
within and between species
and all forms of natural/spiritual living energy systems.

When national Democratic Party leaders
declare objective NumberOne
for 2020 success
is to defeat Trump,
I 20/20 disagree.

This continues and further escalates a win/lose strategy
to out-capitalize the Trumpian icon of Capitalism.
Rather than a democratic positive empowerment strategy.
This is a sub-optimal choice
because it pretends public sector win/win healthy outcomes
can be achieved with more
and more
and more private sector win/lose incomes–
while Earth
community
home burns and melts and floods.

Green Democrats
look to a more resilient
resonant
robust cooperative investment in health.

Health of all kinds:
democratic co-investment health,
environmental health,
economic cooperative-ownership and -management health,
restorative justice health,
peaceful health,
green new deal health,
cooperative health,
compassion health,
love health,
sacred health,
secular health,
ecological health,
theological health,
multicultural health,
polycultural health,
polyphonic health,
polypathic health,
polynomial interdependent intersectional health,

Resonant health,
resilient health
for robust
climaxing
EarthPeace wealth.

Golden Tongues and Silver Bullets

Freedom of speech
is less about freedom from suppression
when more about freedom toward mutual dialogue,
cooperatively held impression
to co-invest in active democratic hope.

Perhaps this is why
First Amendment non-violent communication values

as Second Amendment rights to bear violent arms
recede in multicultural salience
safety
security
sanity.

This causal hypothesis

More likely peace found through cooperative dialogue

weapons against each other.

Having the right
does not make it right

Gadflies
are not about group hugs.

Communion is more of a catholic honey bee paradigm
of win/win resonant satiation;
A winter seasonal anti-climax of body

eco-communion.

Investments In Health

Gaia continues running on a Health Platform,
healthy democracy
for wealthy economy
for healthy ecopolitics
for wealthy democratic energy.

The idea of free markets
as those embedded in democratic transactional service
to a local community
Is as old and conservative
as the idea of health
being embedded in a real
organic economic body
and political mind,
actually communicating
and playing nice
with each other.

The primal goal of old school markets,
in good weather times,
was to grow polycultural health,
investments as rich as diverse nutritional needs
of consuming and producing constituents.

So too, in bad climate times,
a depressed and fading market
becoming more monoculturally played out,
exhausted,
was, and is, to survive Lose economic
and Lose environmental EarthTrends,

Often picking up,
emigrating toward more promising lands
and fresh water,
more breathable air,
healthier opportunities for robust
democratic
fair
transparent
mutually vulnerable
win/win healthy-wealth transactions.

Robust markets are rich in co-passionate exchanges,
a flow between non-violent consumers and producers
rooted in healthy cooperative investments
in
and from
and of nutrition-sharing hearts
and minds
and voices,
thoughts with feelings still attached.

The right to free communicating markets
is a right of democratic access
and an ecological positive corollary right
of equal freedom from investing in poison,
imprisoning the competition,
waging war against those who terrify our megalomania
with their own autonomous hubris,
violent lies
hypocrisy
narcissism
egocentrism
anthropocentrism
xenophobia
patriarchalism
homophobia
win/lose evolutionary competitions,
runaway capital hoarding,
moral bankruptcy,
investment in ego-maniacal agendas,
hate,
elitism,
racism,
autonomous media and market control,
feelings of grandiose entitlement,

Jealous and zealous bad faith
sold out as spiritualized
and denatured
disembodied
unmarketable
unfree GoodNews truth.

Meanwhile,
Gaia continues running on a Health Platform,
healthy natural/spiritual democracy
for wealthy secular/sacred economy
for healthy left/right bicameral ecopolitics
for wealthy democratic free-market energy.
