The Rastafarian Town Council Meeting

Some say it began with the Jehovah’s Witnesses
ingesting sacred substances with the Rastafarians.
Others say that could not possibly be true or false.

What emerged one sultry August Town Council evening
when half the town had found some sleep:

We believe that direct and indirect health outcomes
derived from use of marijuana
are more family and community-friendly
than use of alcohol producing more pathological outcomes;
and that our economic and political policies
and procedures in public affairs,
as in private,
should reflect this shared sacred ecological belief.

Further, because we find little outcome evidence that consumption of THC
is less healthy and more pathological than ingesting alcohol,
and because we find bucket lists of evidence that THC can have therapeutic and far less addictive pathological outcomes than alcoholic beverage consumption,
we find it ecopolitically curious
that regulatory and legal support evinces more tolerance of alcohol Business as Usual
than THC busyness as sometimes unusual.

Such disparity of regulations and legal posturing
appear to suffer from Constitutional Rights Defiance Disorder,
as we compassionately expect our public sector and structures
to positively support what evinces health,
happiness,
and cooperative prosperity for all,
rather than their suppression,
making depressants more accessible than known
ecologically organic regenerative substances,
to toast the less organic degeneratively pathological substance,
which, in excess, is a poison causing death,
as compared to a more biotherapeutic holistic medicine
that has much longer,
and more spiritually,
withstood and contemplated tests of flowing nutritional time.

I cannot say from where this proposal came
but I can report why the Council passed the pipe to think about
what they could say that might fit with their own experience.

Most people learn most and best from personal experience,
we figured,
especially if we have a chance to reflect together on those experiences,
which we might choose to do right now.

Most people’s attitudes and feelings and beliefs
about health v pathology are influenced most by their own experience,
including the intake of substances,
like foods we eat,
and like or don’t prefer,
like beverages we drink and like or don’t,
and prefer nutritionally and tastefully,
like sensory outcomes of drinking alcohol and inhaling THC.

Most Business As Usual fundamentalists,
especially of the Christian and Islamic varieties,
believe alcohol is more or less not health viable
for beneficial ecopolitical outcomes,
as perhaps more favorably compared to THC.
However, most Christian and Islamic fundamentalists
do not have personal experience of either,
nor do they tend to share within families and communities
likely to learn from others’ experiential wisdoms
extending out to broader families and friends of friends.

Sadly, up to this PostMillennial time,
where there have been exceptions to such dually undiagnostic abstinence,
these have been on the side of not-quite-so evangelical cocktails.

Had we sooner leaned the other way,
inhaling THC
then talking about cooperative ecopolitically healthy outcomes
while exhaling,
well, then,
we might begin warming toward each other
and those still outside our monocultural religious walls
of self-protectionism.

As it is,
our spiritual and divine aspirations suffer
from lack of connection with our Eros-loving bodies
and lack of ecologically cooperative empowering WinWin thinking,
and ecotherapeutic climate building,
as in the newer testament gospels for community development,
transubstantiations,
transliterations,
and like those polypathic potheads over at the UU and Zen Center,
and don’t even get us started
on how much fun we had with the Rastafarian Warrior Witnesses.

Sometimes, as individuals
and as a learning species,
we jump too quickly,
eagerly,
enthusiastically on empathic trust feelings of familiarity,
forgetting these may include both health with pathological tensions

this feeling of happiness toward potential true and good futures
yet I really do prefer to squeeze the toothpaste from the bottom-up,

Our languaged history of cultural evolution
shows us that our paradigmatic models,

Keeping Americans Safe

A prayer for God to bless America
is also a reminder of traditional political mindfulness,
basic awareness of our economic investments in security.

First, no one “keeps” this confederation of uniting states,
unless we let them.

Second, prayers for sustaining safety assume the U.S. is safe now,
and/or implies concern that we are at risk.
There are many ways to become ecologically
and economically
and politically
and culturally
and physically
and mentally
and spiritually safe and unsafe.
We are each on a continuum of health v pathology
as individuals,
as is each of our States,
as is this Nation as a whole ecopolitical system.

Third, “America” refers to two continents,
one to the north and one to the south.
A U.S. safety and health security measure could both be
and not be
appropriate health and safety policy
and procedure for this quartile of Earth.
It seems to me we are heading in an ecologically unraveling,
and therefore increasingly unsafe, direction,
more immediately for our coastal nations and, yes,
still somewhat united States.

Fourth, “safe” for and from what and why?
Traditional conservative minds tend to exegete the Preamble to the Constitution
and perhaps even the Declaration of Independence.
Here we read that we are united in healthy pursuits of happy prosperity.
We also read we are uniting with freedom
to articulate a multicultural relationship with God,
free of dominating,
power-over controlling religious-political constraints,
restraints,
and economic leverages or punishments.

Preferably no inquisitions for bowing to the East.
If we all did,
then God might see the humor of AnthroCentrists
bowing and worshiping toward each Others’ rear ends;
Find it good and proper
and call us a full polyculturally wise day
mutually inviting humility.

Does separation of religious from self-governance declarations and constitutions
intrinsically grow tension with our desire to be safe
for ecopolitical prosperity?
This was, and perhaps remains,
a radical social experiment,
in part because religious systems,
institutions of intended regenerative self-perpetuation
toward safe and healthy governance
throughout Time’s eternities
is the nutritional stuffing of political powers over
and powers with,
powers under and powers without.

The multiculturing of a shared safe and healthy politically powerful Teleology
is not ecologically equivalent
is not educationally equivalent
to the dumbed-down secularization of U.S. society and culture.

We both under- and over-sell our political ecology of multi-enculturation

Bleaching such faith out of public discourse,
especially public education,

and across the North and South American Natural Landscape

To keep the U.S. safe from absence of health
through ecological learning from past successes and mistakes,
to keep us healthy for future generations,
which is your priority?

1. Aiming deadly and toxic ballistics at whoever we currently consider aliens

2. Aiming health as ecopolitically cooperative policies and procedures
at the aliens and rabid infestations within our own skins,

with a pedagogically thermodynamic
Time-unfolding HealthMessage.

I’m wondering if someone might help me understand
why we have a Department of Health and Human Services.
Does this “and” imply a mandate to provide health services to non-humans?
Or, maybe we provide non-healthy human services?
Why not just Department of Human Health Services?

Well, that would be confusing.
Social services,
like help for abused and neglected kids,
seems rather far afield from health services.
In fact, some of those programs are known to cause
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Maybe Healthy Human Services?
And, why is the Department of Education
not part of our Healthy Human Services Department?
What are the advantages and disadvantages
of keeping education separate from “services”?

I’m not sure how healthy our educational services are right now.
Some of our students don’t even feel safe at school,
much less happy and healthy.

Doesn’t that adversely influence learning outcomes?
Anyway, your mentioning safety reminds me
of the Defense Department.
If the Defense Department’s mission
is not to protect our health and safety
then I”m not sure what we are defending, exactly.

Maybe we should collapse Defense
into a new Department of Healthy and Safe Human Services.

Ballistics and safety don’t sound right together to me.

And what about proactive and preventative strategies,
aren’t these really more offensive
than defensive measures
to retain safe environments?

What about the Department of Healthy Human Security Services?

Seems like security
and defense
and preventive measures
to avoid ugly violence and aggression
are already in that word “healthy.”
It would be an oxymoron
to have a Department of Healthy Human Insecurity Services,
wouldn’t it?

Yes, that sounds more like my high school experience.

Especially those bathrooms
and lethally swarming corridors between classes.

Wouldn’t the same concerns apply to all the economic,
housing,
and urban and rural development services?

And the Environmental Protection Agency?
That sounds like another health agenda to me.

Not strictly human services, though.

How about a Department of Non-Pathological Development Services?
