Political Artists

Brilliant writers
have recommended to younger students,
to only write if they cannot live without doing so.

Elder successful icons of artistic expression,
have similarly advised apprentices,
do not do as I have done
unless you could do naught else.

But what about parenting?
speaking of artistically nutritional communication,
visually and sensually rich therapies
for growing eyes and minds
ears and tastes and bodies.

Does successful and beautiful communication
in the public eye
place leadership demands on empathic consciousness,
benign commitment to prophetic integrity,
any less rigorous than organizing private daily 24/7 healthy incarnation liturgies?
co-mentoring creation and recreation performance rituals,
expressions of grace,
both empathically healthy and innocently, yet climatically, pathological..

Wondrously skillful parenting
requires more mindful consciousness commitment,
cooperative economic skills,
than does an artist’s Great Literature wheelhouse.

Parents cringe too often reminded,
not by our truth as beauty artists,
but by the occasional eruptive child
becoming who they are and would not be
because of your prior commitment to self-regeneration,
not theirs,
preferably within a somewhat healthy functional relationship.
Being a parent is a vocation,
but being a child could be play as vocation-filled learning.

If you do not believe your children would become good parents yet,
then these are those moments and places
where you were born to master eco-artistic regenerating leadership,
perhaps even a letter or a poem,
a story,
animate your diagrams,
resort to song and dance,
born to choose family-appropriate humor
over dramatic terrorist and operatic plots.

Avoid monopolistic singing in minor keys,
and don’t race your synergetic waltz
into a tornado of enslaving ego- and anthro-centric supremacy,
as this would demonstrate an embarrassing lack of commitment
to their truth as beauty futures,
the artistic leadership of co-mentoring
empathic political and economic Master Parent Certification,
unfortunately, perhaps, rather a lifetime process.

Here again,
we uncover a problem with our arts in education model.
Skilled ecotherapeutic educators and leaders,
such as WinWin strategically creative parents,
are those who most deserve,
and want to become,
Doctors of Loving Wisdom—PhiloSophia,
Medicine Women and Men,
shamanic co-mentors of Earth’s nutritional and pathological powers
through nutritional familial communication.


Leaders and Reporters

Why do you do as you do
and not do as you don’t say?
asked the journalist of the leader,
asked the child of her parent.

Because I like to help
and I do not enjoy recognizing myself
as a selfish hypocrite,
responds the leader
to writers of famous and infamous history,
respond political/economically powerful parents
to children writing co-creation stories.

How do you know you are helping
and not helping retain a flawed toxic elitist system,
maintaining poverty of margins
far below wealth piling into too much power?
asked the cynical divestor
challenging this help-as-health investor,
asked the hurt and wounded child
challenging her health-confessing professing culture.

I doubt I could help
without co-investing in flawed health with pathology
in both political and economic systems,
responds this wu wei leader,
responds this co-mentoring parent,
but what have you noticed
might help more
while collaterally hurting less?

It seems to me,
writes aging journalist,
resonates maturing residents of Earth,
those plans and budgets and stories cooperatively researched and written
by and with and for co-investors in our civil enterprise
sustain more healthy wealth,
with less pathological backwash,
as compared to Business As Usual,
self-hypnotic static monocultures,
winning to lose further competitors toward mutual empowerment.

Party Games

What are the odds that either Democratic or Republican leaders
will ever again remember how to host a Party?

Imagine these invitations we receive:
Dear Ms. Democrat,
Dear Mr. Republican,
Please come to our Leadership Party,
primarily to listen to us rant and rave
about why to avoid going to any of those other parties,
and how to avoid asking stupid primal questions,
too hypnotized by lust for anthrocentric hypnotic power games.

This is not my idea of recreation
or creative expression
or even entertainment
much less an improvement over Charades
wherein at least you can choose to listen
through all those less than excellent solutions:
not this
not that
not now
not later
not before.

Why is it not OK
to ask more resonant political and economic questions
at political and economic leadership parties?
Perhaps we could skip the depressing alcoholic punch,
try some THC,
while playing political and economic charades,
opening both-and bicamerality
where either-or had been the only strategic advantage
for monopoly winning outcomes.

I’m deep-bone tired of Musical Chairs
and Pin the Tail of responsibility
on the other party’s butt of sociopathic non-accountability.

Decent political parties don’t play
Spin the Porky Competition Bottle
all night behind smoke-filled self-engorging doors.
I would rather stay home
and continue losing Solitaire,
but thanks so much for not thinking of me
or my family
when you are designing your non-party,
rearranging our furnishings to help pay your mortgage
and send your kids to supremely private anthrocentric schools
teaching all those non-good BusinessAsUsual Monopoly questions.

No thanks for crappy party favors

When oppositional cognitive dissonance deflects focus,

it tends to go back to when I deflected focus from her.

She sends me passive-aggressive messages,

bread crumbs leading back in time

to where she began to feel alone,





If you don’t want a sopping wet tile bathroom floor

because I have thrown all my naked Barbie and Ken parts,

especially their water-filled hollow insides,

and the five saturated pools of clean washcloths

I took out of that drawer just like you said not to,

and the nice sudsy soft bar of soap,

then you might want to reconsider leaving the bathroom

during my bath.

You might want to think of telling a story

or imagining with my behavioral lectures

Perhaps oppositional cognitive dissonance

is what Republicans have about Democrats.


If you folks would be so kind as to return to cooperative civic and civil discussion,

about our intrinsic dignity,

immaculate integrity as a permacultured orthodox tradition,

intrinsic to optimize sustainable and resilient health

for All Americans,

including those who happen to have become embarrassed

by their wealth of health and extravagant disregard

for uncommodified values,

like the synergy of all natural systems,

of religious cultures

delivering a united and interdependent positive teleology

that we all created this rapacious, extractive mess together.


So, please stop leaving the bathroom

every time we complain about your shitty attitudes

about wealthy compost and sustainable,


optimized economic growth.

Then complain when we go right on doing

what we intended to do

while we were throwing water

on your slippery-floor economics

of radical,

reverse-hierarchical interdependence and mutual subsidiarity.

hear their oppositionally disordered Republicans

as if they were of some dysfunctionally alien species

devoid of deductive rational accessibility,

of even one of four corners of truth,

and  without capacity to empathize with their well-mentored praxis,

of continually forgetting you could not climb a higher priority

right now

than telling your oppositional daughter Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax, 

interpreting each voice as your own Lorax,

wondering why you continue competing

to reach a Win-Win Cooperative Game,

and political

and economic

and ecological

and cultural finish line,

alone in your Permaculture Designed polycultural Loraxed paradise.

When you think about it,

you can see that your competitive political

and economic assumptions are not ecologically,

or even permaculturally,

sound, rational, integrated,

much less synergetic or holonically comprehensive.

You can’t win a P=NP,

4-fractal/spiral (0)-sum

cooperative economic logistical plan

until everyone else has the freedom

and integrity

and ecotherapeutic orthopraxis comprehension,


to win-win with you, coincidentally.


With this perhaps un-Christian,

and vaguely irreligious perspective

that Democratic political culture

is closer to (0) sum Core Value Balanced Heaven

rationality than appears to be the case

for our benighted Republican

and wealthy fat-cat residents of Earth,

we have turned rather too far

our spinning cultural revolution pendulum

away from the racist sin of polycultural difference,

poverty and the commodification of human lives,

and the commodification of other species,

and the commodification of Earth’s fire, water,

soil and sky,

Her capacity to regenerate fertile seeds,

turning away from sin as insanity,


to now prophecy the sins of wealth,

and power,

and competing, dissonant tipping points

of monocutural,


monopolistic competing economic uncertainty

and ecological dysfunction for all nations,

including its more humane DNA-informed

bicameral information processor branch of our EcoTribe,



multisystemic and polycultural Climax Community,



coincidentally straining and stressing to comprehend

So, yes, maybe somewhat closer,

but closer doesn’t count

when playing Win-Win economic logos.

Our Family Values Party

Healthy families can be quick to anger

but, if so, they have also learned to be quick to forgive,

forgiveness redeems anger and fear to again risk mutual trust.


Partisan political leaders are not leading when they,

immersed in adversarial power positions,

are slow to forgive.

Well, OK, forgiveness, like mutual mentoring,

and redemptive behavior,

is not part of our political rhetoric, language, active culture.


While I am practicing what they preach

as civic and familial virtue,

they are not.

So, I think those who choose to grow

in divisively competitive stratifying marginalizing

monocultural partisanship


monopolistic praxis and intent,

when they could choose to lead in mutual forgiveness

and consideration for honest differences,

to engage in actively cooperative polyculturalism,

should follow the lead of Permaculture Design’s

ecological economics,

spreading Golden Rule organic compost on every issue,




population and subculture,

replacing mutual immunity with mutual gratitude

for Positively intended Deviance

and Orthopraxis of natural systemic norms,


values of integrity,



actively diastatic positive relations.


For two Parties to optimally and effectively communicate,

one must listen

while the other talks

then listens

while the other talks,

both sides actively searching for all the sides

to convene in their eco-centric location of

being together now

within mutual gratitude for becoming together;

the power and potential of mutually mentoring integrity,

and, oh yes, politically inclusive and effective leadership.


Let’s have a Family-Friendly Party,

equally adept with angry confrontation,


flexibility and listening,

and nobody is allowed to go to bed

even one night

without knowing we all agree to forgive each other

for being human natured.


Regenerative Leadership for a Global Millennial Community

Robert Dale, in Leadership for a Changing Church, claims we want leaders who make sense.  At first blush, we might be tempted to respond that we also would prefer spouses, children, neighbors, and even books that make sense.  To be fair, Dale further specifies leaders in sense-making as those who can effectively translate across paradigms and eras, and maybe even people, and scriptures.


Leaders provide continuity frames for between-the-times eras by showing what deserves to be preserved from the past and by creating what’s required of us for healthy futures. (p. 101)


This normative hope for post-modern religious leadership finds echoes in unexpected places. David Abrams describes the tribal role of the shaman as


the ability to readily slip out of the perceptual boundaries that demarcate his or her particular culture…in order to make contact with, and learn from, the other powers in the land. His magic is precisely this heightened receptivity to the meaningful solicitations…of the larger, more-than-human field. (The Spell of the Sensuous, p. 9)


In Genius 101, Dean Keith Simonton describes polymathic genius as an unusual ability to perceive patterns underlying paradigm perimeters. The polymathic religious leader maps patterns of confluence and dissonance across physical and metaphysical systems. Our Millennial shamans are paradigm and people transliterators in a Universe of symbiotic meaning development.


It is difficult to imagine what this string of abstractions would look like within one leader. William James argued that the incarnated definition of religious and spiritual genius is a renowned mystic or saint, or preferably both. For heuristic purposes, we might translate “shaman” as “Messiah,” operating within a defined historical-cultural information system.


  • Messiah:  Shaman, a transliterative adept with universal paradigms and languages, and diverse species;
  • Messianic Universal Field: Functioning optimally within an Open Set 4-dimensional sphere with (0) Core Vector soul  (see Buckminster Fuller and Gregori Perelman, and William Thurston);
  • Purpose of Religion/Spirituality: symbiotic meaning development.


Due to constraints of timeliness, let’s try substituting the word “compassion” for the two words “symbiotic meaning,” thereby synchronizing with the Dalai Lama’s, and perhaps Jesus of Nazareth’s teleological belief that “the whole purpose of our practice is to become more compassionate human beings.” (Beyond Religion, p. 183)


Messianic Leadership Purpose: development of compassion.


Even if all that does make sense together (and I have a dissertation thesis topic in mind that would investigate whether the hypothesis proposed is one that could be scientifically and religiously and/or metrically confirmed as “sense-making” or “True,” or not) what might it mean to say that our best and brightest spiritual leaders have the gift of transliteration?


To transliterate is to accurately exchange letters, words, information, thoughts, nutrients, into corresponding values of another language, or paradigm, person or information system. Transliteration is to translation as nutritious yogurt is towarm milk.  Transliteration unveils, decodes, what translation reveals. Transliteration comprehends the why of what translation understands as a correlation of meaning. When we put them together, something diastatically metamorphic occurs, a new pattern of symbiotic relationships across what had been two distinct entities.  Transliteration is the ability to translate, and accurately predict, emergent patterns across languages, individual organic systems, polycultures; each a type of Closed Set universe (or Group in mathematics and sociometrics) information system. The more adept at paradigm and person translation, the more compassionate becomes the leader; the more compassionate, the more adept at communicating with optimized sense-making, or mutual-meaning-creation, mindfulness, and effectiveness.


Christian Schwarz chooses empowering facilitative leaders as the first of his eight necessary qualities for Natural Church Development optimization. “These pastors equip, support, motivate, and mentor individuals,”…. “They do not use lay workers as ‘helpers’.” (p. 24) This is leadership operating in a cooperative transaction economy and ecology. Capitalists and socialists, government regulators and “free” enterprise advocates alike need not apply for the role of post-modern shaman. Empowerment optimizes as cooperation becomes equilateral, mutually initiated and received. This is a highly mindful and effective cooperative value exchange.


Leaders who realize their own empowerment by empowering others experience how the “all by itself” principle contributes to growth. (p. 25)


Mutually empowering iterative loops are the economic-ecologists way of advocating the benefits of local cooperative-based transactions with emergent win-win symbiotic value optimization. This is the kind of reality that sounds like our most abundant purpose is to grow in mutual compassion. The fruits of compassion are cooperative-oriented transactions and relationships of mutual gratitude.


Schwarz further observes that empowering sense-builders enjoy bipolar balance between “goal” and “relationship” orientations. In his theological paradigm, too many of us are either imbalanced toward a technocratic faith or a spiritualistic hope.  It is the adept religious leader who is able to consistently self-and-other empower, keeping both her faith-in-self goals, and hope for relationship development, in equipoised balance.


Our polymatic shaman maintains an internal and external landscape that compassionately balances faith in self as other, and other as self; a combination of the Golden Rule and the enthymematic awareness that “we are all in this together.”  This is a solidarity that echoes our theology of the marriage bond—but applied universally, radically, inclusively, embracingly to all species and all of nature.


Our millennial shaman transliterates the patterns within and between self and other during an inclusive pilgrimage toward a mutually discovered universe of ultimate compassion. This sounds like a good thing. But, is this theology supported by what we discover in natural patterns of healthy development? This, after all, is the infrastructural analogy behind Schwarz’s thesis; we are a system of nature. He implies that a spiritual and/or metaphysical information universe is incarnated as nature, so we can notice nature’s patterns to improve understanding of this metaphysical universe, and perhaps vice versa.


If an ecology of deeply balanced empowerment, internal to the religious leader, and external within the community’s culture, is fertile soil for our millennial shaman, then why,


Now for the good news: pastors of growing churches do not need to be superstars. Most of the pastors with the highest scores in our survey are little known. They generally provide us, however, with more helpful basic leadership principles than most of the world-famous “spiritual superstars.” (p. 25)


It would be interesting to analyze confluence and disparity patterns between “famous” spiritual leaders and “most helpful” spiritual leaders. On what basis does Schwarz establish transliterative ability; the gift of mutual compassion? Religious leaders are helpful, fruitful, to what end, for whom? Is the problem that famous-but-not-especially-helpful pastors are too goal-oriented or is the problem that the helpful-but-not-famous are too relationship oriented, imbalanced toward compassion for others? How do we  balance compassion for ourselves with compassion for others? The problem, and the opportunity, with polarities is they are mutually self-defining.


Even so, certainly the fields of geometrics, biometrics, permaculture design, thermodynamics, and binary systems theory would all agree with our Taoist friends that sustainable optimized values are richer when polarities are balanced, than when not.


Schwarz perhaps misses an application of an old design principle that favors greatest effect with least effort. It is only implied that the six phases of his transformative cycle may be as true for the shaman as they are for the shaman’s exterior landscape, the faith community. His Stage Theory is anciently known and recognized. Perhaps this is acknowledged in his Three Color Compass, but not mentioned in Natural Church Development. For simplicity, compare Schwarz’s Growth Spiral stage theory to Bloom’s Deep Learning Taxonomy and Robert Norton’s Laws of Interaction (Communication and Consequences):

Yang translates Schwarz’s “technocratic” and “goal-oriented,” while Yin translates “spiritualistic” and “relationship-oriented.”


The concept of leadership is directional and temporal, enhanced with analogical balance between one’s interior and exterior landscapes. This leader is pointing us to where or what end in the future, with what evidence that this direction makes sense? Schwarz is working toward regenerating a permacultured planet of post-modern leaders who are compassionate, cooperative facilitators. This translation expresses faith in leaders who share a deep eco-equity learning culture.


The millennial shaman’s mutual ministry is EcoMinistry. This core solidarity, that we are all gratefully in this together, catalyzes a synchronic evolution toward a compassionate mecca of mutual gratitude; in this life, future lives, a trans-generational continuity of re-ligioning, reincarnated from generation toward ReGenesis. To do as Jesus did, to in-form the Body of Christ, to be today our faith for tomorrow, we cooperatively incarnate into our regenerated future, with gratitude. Always with gratitude.
