Thanksgiving for Independence Days

Among PermaCulture Designers,
planners and cooperative schemers,
choreographers and mappers,
therapeutic lyricists and historical poets,
and probably comedians,
there is a saying,
a principle of experiential truth:
For every healthy function
we discover many nutritional elements.

This has to do with commitment,
most resonantly shared with GaiaEarth,
to invest in polycultural multi-enculturing functions
to disinvest away from monoculturing
monopolistic pathologies of hubris,
a human environment supremely out of balance
with humane cooperative intent.

An important cultural health function in the U.S.,
as in other enriching societies,
is celebration.

Celebration is a health function
with many memorial and traditional elements.

Two of these celebrations
are in creative tension within U.S. cultural revolutions:
Thanksgiving Day and Independence Day.

Thanksgiving is healthy
and draws on elements of gratitude
grace
Earth and life as sacred ecological relationship,
as our shared evolutionary history
rooted in cooperative nurturing elements.

Independence,
like liberty and freedom,
is also healthy
and draws on elements of revolution,
too easily violent and emphatic disagreements
about redistribution of power and wealth
from royalist plutocratic homes
to mutually cooperative democratic co-investment networks
thankful for this new opportunity
to grow both Thanksgiving cooperation
and often-competitive WinLose crises
on thresholds of new-found Independence Days,
not possible to resolve
without dominance of interdependent Thanksgiving WinWin celebration,
memorials of Earth’s bounty
inviting humane benign parasites of Independence
from Earth’s other native elements,
back into more grateful abundance
through interdependent health functions
of more polyculturally empowering Thanksgiving.

Gratitude warmly embraces growing less defensively reactionary
about our grown-too-nationalistic and egotistic elitist
Independence Days.

To optimize health functions of Thanksgiving
and Independence,
Earth invites us to remember how ecosystems
create these two co-arising intentions together,
as root systems of multiculturing grace
interdependently flower mutually-held and celebrating
Independence Days
with ecopolitics cooperatively-owned and self-governed
liberty for all
capable of reweaving
Earth’s WinWin Thanksgiving Day supremacy
of healthy democracy for maintaining cooperative ecology
rather than over feeding wealth-hoarding plutocracy,
wherein every day is entitled to Christmas gifts
without the gratitude of a healthy Thanksgiving child.

While it is possible to celebrate Independence Day
each in our own King George throne room
and firing-up our own gated backyard grills
of me-first red meat,
Thanksgiving Day more patriotically invites
a table large enough
for all us native creolizing waves of immigrants
to give thanks for all Earth’s healthy gifts
brought together by these
grace-filling
nutritional polyculturing elements.

The Eighth Principle

Integrate
rather than segregate.

Yin
rather than too much Yang dominance.

At least in the worlds of Permaculture Design
and Systems Theory
and Democratic Political Theory,
Polycultural outcomes
are healthier
and thereby wealthier,
than monoculturing economic and political,
ecopolitical-psychological
and social and cultural
and any system-balancing
obectives.

Monocultural objectives
in an overripe infestation time
can produce rabidly aggressive polarities
overpowering and devouring prey,
sources of nutrition and energy and fuel,
to a tipping point beyond regenerative replacement.
Sated monocultural predator overpopulations
on climatic edge
of hunger and thirst
for former neighbors,
now heading toward decline,
extinguished by supremacist WinLose Players,
populations,
species,
acting like cats
living on a continent of catnip,
constipated and out of nutritional balance,
satiated
just as catnip energy is at point of crisis.

Cats facing decline,
gradually wondering if they will have to end
by preying on each others’ young,
or escape this over-catted
monoculturing WinLose monopoly game
conclusion
to catnip bloated dominant patterns
learned from catnip-hungry teachers
and mentors,
parents and siblings.

So, whether cat or human,
designing and learning to cooperatively integrate
our integration objectives
is not just better
but healthier
and thereby wealthier,
more democratically effective,
more economically nutritional,
and more ego/eco-bilateral balancing
than segregating ego-centric
ethno-centric
anthro-centric
racist
sexist
ageist
xenophobic
paranoid
supremacist
monoculturing trends
toward dissonance and despair.

To paraphrase David Holmgren,
regarding human waste and effects of polluting Earth,
“Declining [health] energy availability
will shift the general [ecopolitical-psychological] perception
of these [cooperative symbiotic relationship] concepts
from romantic idealism
[RightBrain marginalization]
to practical necessity.”

When we recall
we are an inherently ecopolitical species,
cooperative integrity unveils a primal practiced necessity
of Mother Earth’s gift-it-forward (0)-sum nutritional economy.
Then gratitude and grace
become as accessible to atheists,
and Bodhisattva Warriors,
and CoMessiahs,
to peace martyrs and justice prophets
as to any newborn on Earth,
learning embryonic embrace of matriarchal root systems,
womb through tomb lifetime co-investments
open to Earth’s regenerative gifts
of health as wealthiest nurture
of polycultural development,
healthier than segregating supremacist degeneration,
climate pathological objectives,
nihilistic WinLose planning
as if economic wealth optimization
could be rooted in segregated capital vaults
not investing in mutual Earth-Gratitude Integrity.

Interdependently integrate all positive nutritional trends
rather than merely segregate your negative ecopolitical predations,
victimizations and criminalizations,
from whom we truly have become,
for now.

Adopt active cooperativity
rather than adapt to fear and anger tolerance
much less mongering.
Both integration and segregation are mutually contagious.
One feeds love,
the other bleeds despair.

What I Want

What do I want out of life?

I want in,
where love still flows
fertile and strong.

I want to live fully on this Earth
with others
who need not ask
what I want
because we all grow in confidence
our answer is shared,
our univocal choice

Do you believe
these different gender identities
and preferences,
those of different ages, places, times, species,
those who look far different,
those who smell worse or better
than you do this day
would answer any differently?

I think not.
I feel not,
for then I would despair

I am so sorry your lack of a vagina

What vocation remains
for you to find
now you have become the infertile son

Mom, really?
Tell me you’re not pursuing ordination again.

Why not?
We talk about a priest shortage

Maybe I could go into religious education.

I find a fuzzy irony in this morning’s early search for a new journal notebook, having filled my last from what had been, five years ago, an inconceivably high pile of empty and near-empty notebooks, set-aside for these diurnal reflections on last night’s RightBrain decompositions.

Having determined I have none left, all now filled from inside their front covers all the way back through both sides of their rough grey cardboard back covers, and yet not even entirely comfortable with retiring sixty-five, I began looking through my Oppositional Defiant Disordered and Fetal Alcohol Syndroming and Cerebral Palsied 15-years-old mulatta’s book bins, filled with reminders of choices rooted in seeing her as maybe emotionally 5, yet with all those young adolescent pheromones to confuse her about who she truly might become, looking yet again for her one yet-empty notebook.

She carries this empty-lined notebook with her everywhere she goes, including bed, as if she were the most intent and intense journal-writer there ever was. And she rather too vigorously rifles through it’s battered dog-eared pages, front to back, back to front, it doesn’t matter. Here, she appears to be reading her journal, and yet finding only blank pages about where she has been, and where she is mulatta going.

Ironic, isn’t it, that my life is filled with riches of chock-full WinWin regenerative diastasis, evolutioning symbiosis, ego/eco-sacred prime relational transubstantiation, both secular and sacred integrity of purpose, and rich deep ecological meaning, and yet her life is so frighteningly filled with one empty notebook, I am currently trying to find, to fill with my life, and hide from her constant search for this same one perpetually well-read empty (0)-Source notebook.
The theory of everything ecopolitical described in this paper is a conjecture that starts with a firm conviction that energy, Yangspace and Yin-bilateral time are the only prime relationships in the universe. That means that the universe is really nothing more than energy fluctuating in warped space-time creating all four fractal-forces; the electromagnetic LINE, COSINE, LTR, dopamine-guanine +,+/(+,-)0-primal-fertile force, the strong Yang +,+ WinWin force, the weak Win-Yangforce and Lose-Yin co-gravity.

When we say “the universe” that’s what we’re talking about. Even the quantum particles that seem so real to us are actually just our bi-nomial perception of energy WW-LeftBrain and WL-BiLateral-Appositional Right fluctuations and at the deepest level of reality the primary function of Yang physical form is YinYin/WinWin dipolar co-arising pregenerative-gravitational.

It is interesting to read Edouard Glissant’s “Creolization and the Making of the Americas” (2008, Creolization Quarterly) immediately after finishing Alexander Anievas’ and Kerem Nisancioglu’s “How the West Came to Rule” (2015).

You might think these two historical views of ecopolitical evolution would either have nothing to say to each other, to talk past each other’s from above/from within perspectives, or to rather vigorously argue about which is the victor in the end, WinWin
cooperative regenerative intent and constitutional purpose, Original Content’s purpose and meaning, or Capitalist Elite/NonElite Win/Lose. With NonElite creolized-enslaved also rans, before the West was supremacist, fully economic-colonialized, empowered through piracy, predative WinLose survivalist supremacy over the more WinWin PatriarchalLeft/MatriarchalRight-embryonic nurturing NonElite NonWest.

Yet, I did not find either of these to be the case. For me, reading about post-EliteRoyalist creolizing multiculturing WinWins on cooperatively expanding archipelagos of ecopolitical EarthCommons Left-Right growing commonsense of bicameral ownership and ecosystemic-economic bilaterally nutritional governance, felt like reading the Original Intent of all democratically-optimistic-Positive PolyPathic Systemic Constitutions, while reading through the jaundiced lens of the Elitist-Capitalist-Militarist WinLose-survivalist fear-mongering history of how the Patriarchal LeftBrain Dominance of Western WhiteMale Property and People Owners, felt a little bit like rereading “The Last Hurrah” of what could eventually only monoculturally become LoseLose FinalCurtain for Earth’s future as a living, as opposed to dead, ecosystem.

Glissant negatively defines creolization as not mechanical empire-building autonomy, measured in consumer-growth percentages. Rather, creolization is organic consume/produce symbiosis of WinWin ecopolitical interrelationship, characterized by evolving and revolving EliteLeft-Yang and NonEliteRight-Creolizing-affective integrative multiculturing resonance. Creolizing is Permacultural EcoPolitical Design, with Earth as one cooperatively revolving landscape for producing self-regenerative optimal polycultural climaxing diastatic co-empathic trusting WinWin outcomes.

Glissant moves on from where the “How the West was WinLose-Survivalist Won” toward how this Earth might become WinWin-Regenerativist climate and landscape health sustained. “…the obligation to remake oneself [ecopolitically] every time” is a perpetual revolutionarily diastolic constitutional intent, requiring an interdependent multiculturing capacity of trans-generational nutritional-environmental RightBrain decompositional, bilateral appositional Elite/NonElite re-integration, reweaving internal/external ecopolitical WinWin LeftBrain ego/eco-creolization.

And yet, before we march through too many piles of triumphalistic WinWin regenerative ecopolitical biographies, histories of cultures emerging WinWin systems to also submerge WinLose dysfunctionally unwinding systems, it feels prudent to recall Dr. Jane Anna Gordon’s “tragic mulatta” matriarchal NonElite-suppressed tradition. The Christian-Taoist Stands Down

I was baptized as a Christian,
once or twice.
It’s not so much that the baptism ritual malfunctioned
in some series of unfortunate events;
It’s more like Taoism as my primary ecopolitical health system,
or religion,
or metaphysic,
or whatever kind of evolutionary,
perpetually eisegetical-hypothetical,
label you choose to slap on the box
you decide to keep me in,
was (0)Riginally Intended as an ego-hyphenated eco-system.

That works out well for creating hybrids of anything cultural:
Christian-Taoist,
Judeo-Taoist,
Islamic-Taoist,
Zen-Taoist, although that would be highly redundant,
Hindu-Taoist,
Zeroist-Taoist, although, again,
be prepared to fall asleep
as metaphysically orthodox ethologists debate
whatever there is of any phylogenic difference
between the Yang and Yin positions
within that notnothing nondual hybrid.

So, as a baptized Christian-Taoist,
it’s easier to see syncretic bridges between cultural faith-learning systems
with those who do use the Christian label for themselves
and with those who would adamantly declare their enthusiasm to be,
and always and forever remain,
anything but Christian.

I run into this a lot with atheists,
who are also climate health activists:

No! I’m not a capitalist-fundamentalist Christian EarthRaper,

always with a capital A,
or I’m a Unitarian Universalist,
although these are more like UnTheists,
or I’m a Humanist,
or a Wiki of some nature-spirit nondualist-feminist

when speaking with a Christian ecologist,
just means I’m a not YangLeft Dominant
or YinRight Dominant
Ego/Eco climate-health balancing
charter member of the Bodhisattva MindBody of Christ.

Not meaning to make that sound like a cake walk,
but I’m saying my Taoist sensory awareness
of nutritionally regenerate v degenerating evolution

Gaia’s Humane Rights to/for/of Healthy Climates

In 1968,
a time of great concern for healthy human civil rights
for and of women as well as LeftBrain culturally dominant men,
Gregory Bateson invited a Symposium
not quite a finished Symphony
proposing Moral and Aesthetic Structure of Human [Climate] Adaptation.

He closed his invitation to show up as follows
[with my own updating Earth Climate Rights commentary in brackets]:

We have perhaps what Sir Geoffrey Vickers has called
an ‘ecology of ideas.’
[a health v pathology ecology,
climates of and for ideas,
learning and unlearning climates for therapeutic adaptive/maladaptive purposes].

If it be true that certain people are specially gifted
in the [polypathic multicultural] art of acting upon complex [eco]systems
with [empathic trust/mistrust balancing] homeostatic
or ecological
characteristics,
and that these people do not [co]operate
by spelling out the interaction of all relevant [health/pathology] variables,
then these people must use some inner [health of] ecology
of ideas as an [ecosystemic] analogic model.
(By ‘ideas’ I mean thoughts, premises, affects,
[feelings, attendance, listening, relational, empathies]
perceptions of self, etc.)

But if this [empathic trust/mistrust] skill is, in some sense,
really an art [of ego/eco-listening]
then it is possible that the inner ‘ecology of ideas’ is a close synonym
of what might also be called aesthetic [affective-cognitive] sensibility [and dissonance].

These notions suggest, finally, that there may be another approach
to the problems of a Theory of
[Therapeutic EarthRights-HumaneRights] Action.

As I write this, on November 5, 1968, the nation is voting to choose a President
and the voters are faced by alternative candidates–
none of whom even claims to have either [ecological] aesthetic
or [ecopolitical] biological insight
into the [empathic healthy trust] affairs of a large [cooperative] nation.

Be that as it may,
I suggest that before we proceed to a consideration of theories of [therapeutic] action,
we should devote some time to the question of aesthetic [ecosystemically healthy-wealth] determinism [favoring power-with over power-over resolutions]
for the following reasons:

a. It is conceivable that there is a whole other order of determinative [health/pathology] factors,
to ignore which would be as fatal as to ignore the homeostatic [co-empathic trust/mistrust] aspect of biological [nutritional-digestive] systems.

b. It is possible that the aesthetic [truth-as-beauty, symmetry, affinitive proportion] approach,
with its special emphasis upon [natural] patterns
and the [emergent] modulation of [ecotherapeutic] patterns,
may be a natural development out of mem-theory
and 0-graphs [fractal, 4D binary bilateral metric information prime empty-climate, vacuum of nutritional information, ‘wallpaper’ or dialectally folding/unfolding landscape group/game theory reiterative-revolving systemic]

c. It is possible that the [co-empathic] aesthetic is in some [bicameral] way
closely related to
or [and] derivative from the cybernetic [genetic-binary, reiteratively double-bind bilateral balancing tree-root nutritional health structure].

d. It is possible that the aesthetic approach may provide short cuts to the [deductive-only] evaluation
and [Left v RightBrain] criticism of plans for [therapeutic] action.

e. It is possible that [basic] aesthetic [empathic trust] perception may be characteristic of [ecologically healthy bicameral-balancing] human beings,
so that action plans which ignore this characteristic
of [Left-Right equivalent] human perception
are unlikely to be [power-with, cooperatively, struggling with as not against] adopted,
and even unlikely to be [cooperatively] practicable
[because not supported by ecopolitical social-cultural dominant structures
despite evolutionary history
as ethological witness to mindbodies of and for health regeneration].

f. It is possible that aesthetic computation and aesthetic creativity are subject to pathological disturbance [mindbody illness]
Certainly creative and artistic processes are in part determined by epoch
and [Left and/or RightBrain dominance and/or equivalent] cultural milieu [climate].
It is likely therefore
that pathologies of culture will produce [ecopolitical] pathologies
of [ugly, terrifying, vacuous, nihilistic] aesthetic perception
and [reductive, seductive iconic] monsters of [mistrusting and ambiguous] aesthetic creation.

g. But, conversely, if the aesthetically [oppositional bipolar either-or Left v appositionally dipolar both-and Right] monstrous
be symptomatic of cultural [ecopolitical climate] pathology,
then we have to remember that in all such [sacred ecosystemic] cases,
the symptom is the [pathology] system’s attempt to cure itself [ourselves].
The creation of the appropriate [evil-reverses-live, terrorist, abusive, neglectful] monstrosities might therefore be a component in corrective [purgative] action.
It is possible that some contemporary [subclimates for nutritional landscape optimization permacultural] artists
are actually doing [multiculturally inclusive healthy] things
which we in our conference hope to plan to do
[both economically and politically re-acclimative volution].

For these and related reasons,
I think that we should take a good look at the [climatic] problems
of [empathic trust/mistrust] aesthetics
before we go on to the [ecological] problems of [therapeutic climate] action.

Full-Flight Cultural Revolutions

Thomas Kuhn wrote about scientific revolutions
as if scientific theories evolved
at sedately Business As Usual (BAU) pace
until some revolutionary conjecture,
heuristic truth-statement,
suddenly changed scientific metaphysical landscapes,
shaking up orthodox constellations
within and between paradigmatic multicultural relationships,
shifting AnthroWisdom’s exegetically proven platform
for understanding and identifying reality
within and without
from more eisegetical not-realities,
yet perhaps still of lesser metaphysical significance.

The political abatement,
therapy if you prefer, of exegetically side-by-side competing against,
stressed and straining paradigms
is not fueled by removing cooperative economic-ecological-nutritional investment
in BAU’s further continuous evolution.

Orthodox PolyPathic Tradition
polymorphically proves
the more political and economic Tradition stays the same,
the more we need to pick up or slow down our pace
for healthy regenerativity
to continue spinning Earth’s breathe free atmosphere.

Scientific political revolutions
with some serious,
and perhaps even some not-so-serious,
clout for viral empathic affection without affectation,
effective incarnate infection,
might become more optimally potentiated
with more bicameral mindbodyful focus,
hunting and gathering cooperative regenerate health co-investments
