Dear Permacultured Salvation Army

I would so appreciate an invitation to co-mentor Permacultural EcoTherapy with others sharing gratitude for mutual caretaking while stepping into a salvific place to synergetically develop ecological consciousness, which I believe is rooted in mutually subsidiary, positive teleological, and multisystemic economic values.

That is a lot of words requiring rather precise definitions, which also tend to have a lot of those same other words; analogical phrases reflecting each other through interdependent paradigmatic lenses. For me, salvation is something we do together,

  • that permaculturalists think of as therapeutic for what ails our ecosystems and biosystems, both internal and external,
  • that compassionate caretakers, with some ecoystemic theoretical background, understand as Basic Multisystemic Attendance,
  • that neuroscientists understand as molecular, neural, cellular, and organic RNA/DNA-generated mutually-balancing fractal memory-code intelligence, or mutual-intuitive ecoconsciousness,
  • that polyculturally optimized “climax communities” understand as positive meaning explicating negatively dissonant, irrationally implicating purpose, just as positive doubles negative, convex transduces concave, light transforms dark.

Multisystemic, enthymematic, communicators predicate past salvation into their future vocational orthopraxis, just as our permaculturally sustained future implicates past meaningful eco-nomial optimization intent.

Group Theorists believe that positive economials are polynomials, implicately, and reverse-corollary, predicated by non-polynomial spacetime informating trends.

It would be so helpful to think out loud about how my past incarnates into our optimized future orthopraxis together, just as imagined potential permacultural futures imply past intentional experience with ecological optimization,

  • how past production builds future consumption, as future consumption implies former production,
  • how past prey lead to future predators, and future predators imply potential prey,
  • how “pay-it-forward” hosts lead to cooperative, and sometimes troublesome, parasites, and  sustainable parasitic economic behavior implies the continued wellbeing of our benign Commons host.

Our past permacultural intentions transform into future orthopraxis, just as our economic future transduces past ecological optimization intent, winnowing, evolving memory of value-balancing outcomes.

We can develop residential and vocational cooperatives, consumer and production and recycling cooperatives, with mutual polycultural mentoring, an orthopraxis of multisystemic nutritional communication, design, planning, to facilitate regenerative solutions to identity, vocational, environmental, economic, and residential challenges, issues, tensions, intentions for optimally sustaining our Beloved Community.

Sustainable Hiber-Nation?

Not sure who said this,

in reference to social change and perhaps evolution,

“We can’t be neutral on a moving train.”

 

And yet, we often do retain our natural systemic balance on spinning Earth.

Dr. Beaver’s Win-Win EcoTherapy Game

So, this year our Permaculture Communications Class project will hope to design a cooperative, yet fun, EcoTherapy Game. We will do this together, but let me give you some ideas that came to me in the middle of last night’s full moon cycle. So you know this is going to be good, right?

OK, what if we cast Information issues within a hierarchy of discernment authority to defer to nutritious health and economic prosperity values. So options available are restricted by giving preference to those that are at least positive/negative value balanced in both ecological and economic categories. This should have the effect of minimizing loss, pain, suffering, and dissonance, using normative Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) binary system standards, for positive value optimization, using Bayesian trend analysis.

Now, this is a Win-Win gaming frame, so we prioritize positive information value power and authority by using a principle of mutual lowest subsidiarity default. So, if a Win-Lose value issue dispute arises at the individual level, then the resolution frame goes to the population of the individual’s family, if the family presents the issue to their community, then the resolution frame incorporates that family’s community, if the community cannot resolve the issue to the satisfaction of both the family and the community representatives, then the frame goes out to representatives of the State, or Province, or Bioregion, then to national representatives, and globally only in the event of a national failure to find a mutually acceptable win-win indigenous strategy, which seems likely with regard to climate change concerns, for example, but probably not quite so much about your grandmother’s unfortunate habit of carrying an unsheathed paring knife concealed in the back pocket of her dungarees. But, please notice, this game design intends to be family-based, or rooted–not exclusively marketed to those desperate 16 year olds hiding down in your basements waiting for the satellites to fall, playing their Win-Lose cosmological disaster games.

Let’s take a familiar and long-standing ethical dilemma between the individual and society: If we had a citizen who refused to pay that portion of federal taxes currently allocated toward the production of death and the destruction of property, these would probably show up in our positive ecology value column as ecologically dysfunctional, and therefore negative values; that is, death, decay, dissonance, and destruction are each an indicator of harm, disvalue, dissonant Information string-trend frequencies. These are each and all ecologically negative trend projections. So, a State regulation that appeared to the individual to be dissonant with his or her biosystem’s positive productive outcomes might also contribute to the demise of everyone’s biosystemic health and welfare. I think this might be at least a reasonably moderate level of global human collapse, probably bringing along several other vulnerable species.

Our EcoTherapy Game might involve a national resolution platform to reconsider options like permitting conscientious objectors to not pay their war tax portion so long as that same amount of currency is transparently invested for positive socioeconomic outcomes, such as cooperatives and locally controlled ecological and economic network development.

On the other hand, a socioecological pathologist, and perhaps to some extent we each participate in socioecological pathology, but some more frequently and dysfunctionally than others, brought to the justice system for violating a law, such as evading paying people in a corporation’s own community a living wage by moving production, packaging, and customer service operations to another biosystem, thereby increasing carbon footprint for transportation, and where cost of living in U.S. dollar equivalencies is much lower, thereby further eroding the value of indigenous currency, and further destabilizing the economic and ecological systems in another place. This begins to smell like taking a shit in somebody else’s water, most anybody else’s water, the further away from where I sleep the better, and would be an illegitimate Lose-Lose strategy with disvalues dominating values in both our ecological and economic categories of available options. I strongly recommend that we take off our Ecological Win-Win gaming table, any of these sociocultural and economic Lose-Lose strategies. But, carefully, therapeutically.

So, OK, where was I?  Oh yes, these ecodislogical corporate heads meet with community or state representatives for dispute resolution using a Basic Attendance positive, non-violent, dynamically reiterative, issue resolution framework. Compassionately mindful eco-therapists, both humanist and feminist, using their most inclusively empathetic positive communication and regenerative information skills, talk about, perhaps even role play, perhaps even playing the EcoTherapy Game together, demonstrate the positives and negatives economically and ecologically that they see in the corporate heads’ investment strategy, mindfully, and therefore gratefully, mentoring a hope and faith in mutually subsidiary positive dialogue and discernment. “We’re all in this mess together and we’ll all figure it out together, in a way that works for everyone. No one is allowed to walk away from this table feeling like they just lost something they really need.”

The EcoTherapist’s primary discernment function is to understand why these corporate heads behave as they do, what are the positive economic and  ecological outcomes, short-term and long-term, extending out over the next 7 generations? The negatives are self-evident and not useful to the initial stages of dialogue. Can the EcoTherapist find similar functions and dynamics within her/his own relationships to self, others, natural systems, Earth? In this light, the EcoTherapist can best mentor appropriate behavior, something they have actually done under similar ethical circumstances, that avoids violating the Golden Rule and most any other natural and evolutionary and ecological law that I can imagine, within a

-(Not-Polynomial) time and space information -(0)-Yin QBit 4-Based binary information processing system, CQI design standard [perhaps a bicameral cytosine processor network].

Our bicameral information analysis network will follow reverse temporal trends to optimize Win-Win scenarios and proposals, so a Global Win-Win hierarchical outcome stage of balanced +/- (0)-Core Vector cannot be achieved until every nation achieves +/- (0) value balance in both economic and ecological categories, and no nation can achieve 0-sum balance until every bioregion or state or province within that nation achieves 0-sum balance, and so on down through the community in mutual subsidiary relationship with families, and families with individuals within their families, so this Win-Win reverse-hierarchical default invests everyone in everyone else’s messes, leaving no one behind, feeling like they do not belong to what we are working on together within this EcoTherapy Game. Remember we can’t crowdsource a Win-Win Game and declare it won if even one of the players reports a deficit–a default (+/- 0) outcome for any player is no more than, or less than, what the player entered the game with. That’s more of a Draw-Draw Game. So, I don’t know, maybe our EcoTherapy Game hopes to be Win-Win at the global level, with every entity having a positive balance at the end, but perhaps a Win-Or-Draw-0-balanced Consequences is a more realistic thought, something just this side of paradise.

And, individuals could play this game in each moment of their thoughts and words and actions and absorption of nutrient choices, until they are able to strategize an eco-soul (0)-sum universe with +/- binary balance, using the Prime TrimTab Permaculture Design Optimization Standard of Greatest Abundance/Least Dissonant Loss of information and function, and frequency, and dynamic force, and gravitational flow synergy, which I think might equal positive ecological evolution in this hierarchically revolving Regenesis Theory.

Now, those of you who are taking careful notes may have noticed that reference to QBits, meaning Information Bits within a binary digital information processing system, or maybe not just that. You may also be aware that we have a lot of confusion right now about this QBit quantification of Information flow business, not to mention that whole thing about whether we have sufficiently proven that Polynomial Explicately Ordered Information is reverse-equivalent, formally, nomially, ecologically, metrically, energetically, culturally, and linguistically with NonPolynomial time and space. Some Information Development Theorists claim QBits are what is not real energy or information; others think of them more as heuristic vacuums of information at the proximate end of energy-frequency strings; absent, static, entropic, vacuous pockets within the functional dimensional perspective of observation at any one vector in spacetime. But, I think Buckminster Fuller may have also seen these positive information QBit vacuums as negative binomial knots of bi-functional frequency trend unraveling, rather like David Bohm’s ink drops, unraveling as positive spacetime information but potentially reweaving, under controlled reverse-temporal re-formative “information-memory” value assumptions.

In positive trending polynomial spacetime, these QBit knots of negentropy remain -(-P) [for Polynomial and for Positive Bayesian analytic appositional correlated dis-information] decaying information, perhaps coded reverse temporally as concave-aptic-interior by ‘within’ confluent nuclear mutual-immune-“without dissonance” structural default space-gaps. In normative RNA code development, QBit non-polynomial folds, also binomial gap-ends of vibrant-frequency information-strings, temporally infolds “closer-later-lower” OVER more “distant-earlier-higher” [probably inclusive of magnetic North as +]. Cytosine (C) functions in this prime-information codex system as appositional temporal reversal “constant not-immune” = appositively reflective of Uracil. C functions as a constant -(-)P dysfunction negative non-correlative reverse Bayesian temporal polarity within a balanced P OVER NP binomial metric assumption, rather typical of binary digital information processing systems dependent on +/- electromagnetic balanced energy frequency assumptions. If there isn’t an implied 0 for every explicate 1, then our information system itself is out of balance. This -(-) = + Information Polynomial is analogous to the dynamics of (-)Yin = (+)Yang, just as (+)Yin = (-)Yang form, function, frequency, flow, and force/power in Taoism, maybe.

So, there are +Yang QBits and -Yin QBits with temporal relative constant equivalencies within natural ecological, physical systems, like human bodies, each with its own chi-soul polarity, right through the spine and between the right and left lobes. Now, human minds try to keep all this stuff in balance, which is, according to Julian Jaynes, perhaps why our mammalian brain has pushed out some bicameral information processors, although I think our human natural version went from older Right-brain dominance to now a bit too much Left-deductive, reiterative, ego-more-than-eco-speciated-centric, languaged Western and Northern hemisphere, and male-dominant cultures, all giving historical evidence that Yang Culture and Yin Culture are still issuing exclamations about ecological wisdom v. economic serenity. Which, I think, brings us back to the ecological purpose of this EcoTherapy Win-Win Game design project.

CT-ReGenesis Project’s proposed mission is to rearrange our State more nutritiously and equitably; one home, one neighborhood, one cooperative moment in time.

 

We believe Habitat for Humanity, the Food Alliance, Council for Interreligious Understanding, and the Melville Charitable Trust already participate in this mission, as do we all. Some more intentionally; some less so.

 

This communication will introduce each of us to the others, within a proposal to design a cooperative network together. This cooperative project might have the potential to significantly expand how we define optimally supportive housing and homes, nutrition, and healthy well-being.

Who is in this CT-ReGenesis Network?

 

We are an informal cluster of individuals, three of whom are currently working part-time to propose that the four organizations (counting HfH chapters as representative of one international organization) could form a Core Network Team:

 

Mary Millican is a parent, former special needs school administrator, former owner of vintage retail enterprises, estate staging and closure experienced, master gardener, avid recycler. She wants to help Habitat ReStores, and other non-profit materials recyclers discuss how they might optimize their individual effectiveness for clients while minimizing transportation and acquisition expenses through cooperative networking and resource sharing.

 

Janet Tanner is a real estate agent with ReMax, an international brokerage firm. Her eco-justice and social justice experience includes advocacy for affordable housing, Habitat volunteer, horrible gardener and cook, shops at thrift stores because it is the logical thing to do, parent of a fully employed ADHD young adult. She wants to help people who are selling their houses get rid of their unwanted resources as generously, efficiently, and cost-effectively as possible, recycling goods into a cooperative distribution network where each item will return highest and best use where it is most needed in the local community. Habitat ReStores would be ideal organizing anchors for local gathering and distribution networks.

 

Gerald Dillenbeck, M. Div., MPA in Community Development, Permaculture Designer with special interest in the economics of ecological and nutritional development for at-risk populations. Interreligious EcoMinistry Chaplain at the Sustainable Farm School. He is a Taoist Christian, more or less; Ph.D. candidate in Holistic Teleology, occasionally; dissertation research is relevant to the mission of the proposed CT-Restore Cooperative Network. He is a former Habitat Board member (New Haven, in the 90s), sometimes a not-so-great community gardener, and vegetarian cook, member of the Order of Universal Interfaith, former President of the CT Housing Coalition, former grants administrator for Covenant to Care for Children, which, among other things, distributes clothes, and sometimes nutrients, through a network of faith communities, to at-risk kids throughout Connecticut.

 

Jerry (seldom “Gerald”) would like to help form religious and secular youth leadership teams to discuss and grow toward CQI standards for optimal nutrition, home environments, and sustainable vocations in a globally “rearranging” self-awareness. This requires formational environments mindful of the diverse and mutual well-being of all individuals, and all species. His favorite story is Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who, “A person’s a person. No matter how small.”

 

 

Readers are encouraged to first look at the section pertaining to your own organization. If that makes sense, then reading the other sections should begin to articulate how the Core-4 could fuse high CQI eco-equity and nutritional outcomes throughout Connecticut.

 

 

CT-ReGenesis Network’s potential value for HfH and ReStores: Two Scenarios

 

First Scenario

 

Each Habitat ReStore is loaded with great resources including many that have filtered through various Youth Transition Teams, sometimes as community improvement volunteer projects that have led to establishing entrepreneurial cooperative enterprises, vocations, and guild associations. The Americorps/VISTA programmatic platform has been tailored to support challenged young adults move into sustainable Transition Team vocations.

  • Good reconditioned appliances [entrepreneurial venture of a Youth Transition Team]
  • Furnishings, including refinished/painted by a Transition Team(s)

Most of the more established real estate agents in Connecticut are supporting the ReStore Cooperative Network’s expenses to pick up their property sellers’ unwanted items prior to closing, then distribute those goods where they will return the highest value. This follows the CQI value template for greatest effectiveness in response to trauma, potential pathology, lack of well-being, with least overall resource loss. Resource investments include living-wage time invested by cooperative worker-owners, and energy/nutrient depletion.

 

Also available at the ReStores, or other neighborhood/community center space, are Restoration Incubators for homeschool education, training, recreation, and vocational development space. These Centers are home to the HfH, Food, and Housing AmeriCorps/Vista youth leadership and internship programs, and may provide after-school Deep Learning activities available from the Sustainable Farm School, Gaia University, etc. AmeriCorps stipends are initially paid through a Melville Foundation grant, and eventually through ReStore sales and cooperative exchanges within the Network.

 

Additional classes, cooperative employment, activities that might emerge from these Incubators, depending on local interest and needs:

  • staging services for real estate sales,
  • solar and wind energy production,
  • Community Farm Association transactions, food banks,
  • designing organic, edible landscapes and gardens, and installation support services,
  • mural design teams,
  • cooperative stores and exchange centers for clothing, toys, books, tools, seeds, organic fertilizers, mulch,
  • child and elder care,
  • tax assistance,
  • classes in nonviolent communication, writing, entrepreneurial development, natural construction and crafts, permaculture design, interfaith dialogue, cooking, preserving, yoga, Tai Chi, meditation,
  • support for the formation of residential cooperatives, partnering indigenous tenants in multis with property owners looking for a buyer.

 

Second Scenario

 

Each Habitat homeowner receives a broader scope of services, as needed and welcomed.

  • Recycled, natural and low carbon-footprint building materials and  systems design;
  • Optimized functional, aesthetic, and ecological site planning and landscape design;
  • Access to cooperative-subsidized alternative energy [a potential Transition Team enterprise];
  • Green/natural/recycled/refinished/repurposed furnishings and interior design, new homes fully staged in consultation with homeowners [Transition Team enterprise];
  • Edible landscape design, including organic gardening, on site, or within a nearby community garden setting [Transition Team enterprise];
  • Full garden-to-table-to-compost nutritional loop support system—implementation and/or maintenance, as needed and wanted [Transition Team service];
  • Functional bicycles/tricycles, cargo pedal systems, possibly battery-fueled vehicles eventually [Transition Team services and/or entrepreneurial enterprise];
  • Access to organic CFA cooperative;
  • Access to treadmills, exercise bikes, aerobic equipment connected to electric meters [Transition Team enterprise];
  • Solar panels, wind/water turbine energy production system on site as feasible [Transition Team enterprise].

 

In addition to these two scenarios, HfH relationships with constituent faith communities may be enriched with enhanced youth ministry connectivity and a broader band of useful volunteer skill sets, more inclusive of all ages and genders.

 

 

CT-ReGenesis  significant values for the CT Council for Interreligious Understanding (CCIU)

 

This opportunity framework is somewhat the mutually symbiotic reverse of the Habitat possible futures scenarios.

 

Adolescence through young adulthood is the stage we are increasingly losing kids from intentional faith communities, and other formational systems, such as schools. Perhaps even more true in a globally interfacing culture, young adults are discovering their life journeys informed by the “Religious Commons,” what is held as sacred by all faith traditions, including those that have become secularized, like science, the arts, humanities.

 

Resilient, “deep learning” development systems help us understand ourselves and mature most effectively in an intentionally diverse environment, with others we may primordially see as not like me. Deviant frames of reference, appreciatively facilitated, become richly valued diversity for better understanding the range of assets, resources, and nutrients in Universe. Cultural strengths and challenges inform each other through the individual’s original lens of meaning and value. This seems to be true in all regenerative economies, whether they are pedagogical, spiritual, financial, communication, ecological, or possibly even genetic information systems.

 

CT-ReGenesis is informed by a combined economic, ecological, and social justice agenda long familiar to the religious sector. Faith community participation in this cooperative network may increase interreligious opportunities for dialogue, understanding, and cooperative neighborhood improvement projects. Those with skills and interests in alternative energy, new economics, eco-justice, international justice dialogue and discernment, gardening and agriculture, nutrition and food preparation, therapeutic and nutritional education, permaculture design, holistic therapies and medicines, planning and design, nonviolent communication and living, group facilitation, compassionate therapy, are a rich source for mentoring, team leaders, and skill-shares.

 

Faith community members may want to consider stronger nutritional and environmental standards for their own properties. For example, more edible plants and less grass, buying into an alternative energy cooperative, harvesting solar and/or wind power on-site, group purchases of local CFA contracts, investing in local cooperatives, organic farms, and intentional communities, responding to local needs for more affordable and sustainable habitats.

 

Faith communities may come to think of their HfH affiliate as the local religious sector’s incubator for housing, economic and nutritional and vocational development, and neighborhood improvement partnerships. Individuals may discover that their religious tradition is more dynamic and compelling within a more inclusive polyculture. If participation in this cooperative network transforms Habitat’s Restores into incubators, participation by CCIU may transform this platform for mutual understanding into more of a positive teleological laboratory. CT-ReGenesis network developers may want to consider the Interfaith Youth Core (www.ifyc.org) as a rich resource for linking youth ministry to interreligious understanding and housing/human/environmental service projects. There is also a federal initiative for interreligious cooperation and community service that may be useful for drawing higher profile momentum.

 

 

Regenerative Nutrients for the CT Food System Alliance

 

Food systems are nutrient systems. Food, power, medicine, health are words that have been closely associated with each other since early symbolic communication, and these are all about nutritional flow. The Permaculture Design principle of greatest effect with least effort is all about optimizing the improvement of quality, measured in nutrients, energy, vigor, thriving, rather than the lower qualitative standard of survival of the fittest. Regenerative evolution of nutritional flow aspires to abundance, resilience, healthy sustainability far into our future. The evolution of nutrient systems becomes revolutionary as our focus moves from survival toward global thriving.

 

Thich Nhat Hanh understands communication as a type of nutrition. What we sensorily absorb from our environment, whether through taste, sight, insight, or hearing, lies on a spectrum from abundantly nutritious to offensively toxic, even poisonous in sufficient amounts. Substances, sounds, views, fragrances, feelings, ideas, informationthat we are drawn to because they enrich our selves, and our Universe, are nutritious; those we avoid have proven to be toxic.

 

Both science and religions agree that our neural and nutritional systems evolved through natural systems experience, following natural principles of thermodynamic balance and development, regardless of the polynomial, polycultural, paradigmatic, or power/energy frame through which we have learned to comprehend Universe. Our most permanently-encultured (PermaCultured) frames, or narrative strings, extend back through our proto-history toward an even more Primal Root in the form of shared RNA Codex.  RNA-coded nutrient-fed-and-yielding development systems define the form and function of all living cells. In a sense, natural sciences recognize RNA as our universal progenitor of life, and each neural/nutrient system is an articulation of that global, natural, and primal plasmatic river. Our neural systems thrive with natural nutrition abundance, and avoid dissonant, toxic, anomalous, and entropic dissonance patterns (negative deviance, in Group, BioEvolutionary, and Cognitive Dissonance Theories).

 

Forming a newly-activated intentionally designed polyculture with affordable housing developers, neighborhood organizations, interreligious intentional communities, and post-millennial young leaders, heads of young families, populations at-risk of homelessness and poor nutrition, promises greatest inclusive effectiveness, with least redundancy of organizational and program-delivery expense. Strategies that are more academic and school-based tend to be less effective and well-sustained at the family level because these are not responsive to the specific situations of each household.  Program delivery limited to school-based participation seldom engage at-risk parents in the sustained and holistic way that would be most helpful for family well-being and health, including mental and economic health.

 

Organic carrots, even habitually devoured, will only go so far in meeting the full nutritional needs of a family living in a chronically stressed environment.  On the other hand, a family suffering from PTSD eating organic carrots will probably do better than the neighbor devouring the equivalent weight of quick-fix toxins and sugars.

 

Youth EcoMinistry settings are also ideal opportunities for all of us to teach each other about our growing awareness that nutrition v. toxin is a range of resource variables that crosses all sensory receptors, from touch through sight. Both positive and negative deviance information travels across all natural systems and paradigms, sometimes enriching, sometimes decaying, adding further dissonance, sometimes adding great beauty and grace and feeling to a growing global comprehension of our nutritional vocation to be sure every individual’s health and energy developmental needs are met. Nutrition optimization is healthy self-care (greatest effect) and dissonance prevention (least resistance).

 

 

Regenerating CT’s Optimally Supportive Habitat with the Melville Charitable Trust

Community and Economic Developers, and Permaculture Designers, come to the topic of nutrition from an unusual position, especially if they have watched and listened to the nutritional flow of our global wealth evaporate.  While research funders are finding significant productive value in cooperative-learning structures, philanthropists are finding the competitive grants economy unsuitable for encouraging cooperation and networking. This dissonance becomes more urgent as social investors of good will are confronted by the viral growth of the non-profit sector, each becoming increasingly skilled as a special interest lobby for its exclusive domain, territory, and mission.

 

Adding considerable climatic cacophony to the evaporative trend of philanthropic dollars: When investment markets do poorly, the suffering of competing worthy missions raises to a higher pitch. Generous social investors’ wealth deposits shrink, and calcify, deplete, and become of incrementally less functional value in the face of further climatic change. The nutritional power of the grants and research economy wanes as need becomes more acute, critical, dissonant, chaotic, moving toward despair. The nutritional wealth of our communities ebbs as our communication resonantly echoes and flows with the discord of not enough, and exclusion, and not in my backyard.

 

Diverse theories and practices of systemic change frequently note that enduring transformation is more likely in the presence of both (a) a compassionate sense of urgency, and (b) an inclusively mindful intention to develop resilient cooperative relationships. The greatest compassionate effect, in the face of increasingly critical global suffering, is to be and do the opposite of what is least mindful, most exclusionary and competitive—creating a vacuum of subcultural, exclusionary, chauvinism. Housing is the Answer! when our questions are provincial, rather than mindful of whole household-systems analysis.

 

Solving the problem of homelessness, especially through diverse forms of Supportive Housing was a strategic choice at a time when the philanthropic sector was investing in food and nutrition, but not so much in shelter. The scandal of people without shelter in the midst of affluence appalled the Trust’s Founders. This combination of urgent compassion and holistically mindful strategy has superlatively served the MCT in achieving remarkable socioeconomic influence for a more inclusively equitable society.

 

This cooperatively intended proposal celebrates a watershed moment in the possibilities for achieving realistic CQI outcomes for eco-justice and for humanity, for inclusively restoring people in a place of increasing climatic vulnerability.

 

Until recently, social investors have been offered opportunities to invest in prevention of loss strategies or more urgent intervention to remediate critical losses already incurred. Supportive Housing has usually been an intervention tool, while affordable housing projects, more broadly argue that local access to affordability helps prevent homelessness, as well as having other well-being benefits.

 

Based on the symbiotic principles of Permaculture Design and Buckminster Fuller’s Theory of Regenerativity, the CT-ReGenesis Cooperative Network seeks a more inclusive regeneration strategy. Restoring value in people, places, materials, thoughts, actions, words intends to prevent decay of our commonly held values (air, water, soil, nutrients, communication, information, beauty, gratitude, love, mindfulness, equity, integrity), one moment at a time heuristically assumed as an eternal positive teleological place. Somewhere within our network of diverse repurposing, we can help each other find our most mutually confluent home and purpose, if we choose cooperative rather than the more competitive side-by-sideness of walled missions designed to support institutional survival more than shared vocational purpose.

 

Restoration intervenes at the first identified risk of loss and disvalue, minimizes loss by identifying highest potential purpose through existing relationships, reorientation, reuse with least economic and ecological cost to our present and future. This seems like an appropriate metric for Continuous Quality Improvement within any system, set, or universe.

 

Cooperative polycultures are more productive of positive resources, nutrients, information, more resilient, easily and inexpensively maintained, resistant to dissonance and disease, mutually enriching, mutually grateful for nutritious diversity, than the competitive economies of scarcity in monocultural self-preoccupied identities.

 

A pre-development grant to mutually design the CT-Restore Network from three individuals to four, and more, cooperative, mutually-investing, organizations would be helpful. More significant in the larger picture, perhaps the MCT could invite other New England/New York social investors to discuss and discern the possibilities for supporting cooperative enterprises informed by regenerative values, intent, and practice. Our path is recycling; our goal is profoundly deep socio-ecological regeneration.

 

It would be extremely helpful if the MCT Executive Director and/or Trustees could collaborate on a media plan for this project and the ecology of cooperative economics, social investment, and philanthropy that forms this cooperative project’s theoretical infrastructure. This might conceivably be of interest not only to the CT Council for Philanthropy, but also communication outlets beyond Connecticut.

 

Our philanthropic foundational question becomes “If we are not 100% invested in cooperative and community-based regenerative initiatives, then on what basis would we expect highest CQI sustainable return on our investments? Is it ethical, is it morally appropriate to the needs and expectations of future generations and species, to settle for anything less than our 100% commitment to a regeneratively equitable and inclusive economy and ecology; bringing us the biggest bang for least bucks?

 

At the end of the day, each era, each project, we are each and all recycled nature, restoring our pilgrimage home, where past greets future, with gratitude for what we have started, and what may further evolve from our own endings.

 

[1] The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, in response to ongoing social investment optimization objectives, to achieve both sustainable positive outcomes AND cost effectiveness, has led an initiative for program design and reporting metrics that meet Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) standards. The long-term comparative trend analysis by the Tellus Institute (www.tellus.org) defines a constellation of global economic, political, and ecological values that project optimized long-term viability outcomes through the year 2100. They call their highest performing algorithm the “Great Transition.” This CT-ReGenesis proposal heuristically assumes that Tellus Institute trend analysis is appropriately responsive to social investor’s urgent search for CQI program design and reporting standards.

Positive Deviance as PermaCultured Design and The Great Transition

Abstract: Imagine, for a moment, that the information coding of every psychological system is:

currently struggling for eco-equity as +1/-0 = +Yang/-Yin binary-dynamic balance.

 

Perhaps it is easier to step into this bionic way of comprehending Spaceship Earth, and Her bicameral research species, for any child overwhelmed by the Received-View message that what s/he feels to be Positively Deviant is, in fact, really and truly, according to all cultures in all times, Negatively Deviant. “Your white has been proven beyond doubt to be black.” If we are fundamentally “wrong,” we suffer from an autistically struggling self-identification wound. To grow up “queer,” “defective,” “dysfunctional,” “perpetual underachiever,” “disabled,” “insane,” “bipolar,” “oppositional” is to develop a core-identity protective layer of cynicism about orthodox values, and the exegetical role of culture itself. The alternative, often simultaneously held, is concern that deviance is not fully, or correctly, human in some way.

Bipolar deviance erupts into cognitive dissonance about what is positively deviant, rather than negatively deviant from our Business-As-Usual psychology, what is teleologically helpful or harmful for “Self” preservation. Stigmatization of bi-polarity, from shaman to Transgender, is itself a primal sociopathology emerging with Left-brained cultural dominance. The evolutionary trend toward Left hemispheric dominance has over-valued deductive-only information since the alphabetization of symbolic icons, glyphs, and nature-based audiovisual information. Back in the dim memories of proto-history, what was natural system information was psychologically centric, and normative (Abram, 1996). The Great Transition toward a Gaian Paradigm is a re-volutionary call to return to natural system-based values, with sustainable Positive Deviant trends.

 

 

We are in for the greatest revolution in history. If it’s to pull the top down and it’s bloody, all lose. If it is a design-science revolution to elevate the bottom and all others as well to unprecedented new heights, all will live to dare spontaneously to speak and live and love the truth, strange though it often may seem. (Buckminster Fuller, 1965, p. 160)

Buckminster Fuller predicted a millennial transition crisis of opportunity for Spaceship Earth. Since his death in 1983 many voices have joined Fuller’s Unitarian refrain that the “Universe is eternally regenerative.” (p. 157) When we compile Fuller’s metaphysics with more recent work in Group Theory, including that of William Thurston and Gregori Perelman, the
“soul” of Universal Intelligence synaptically appears when the mutually-appreciative assumption of both Sine (PreGenitor) and CoSine (CoCreator) is “Win-Win,” rather than “Win-Lose,” or “Lose-Win,” or “Lose-Lose.”

Since the post-millennial geometrization (and rationalizing) of Group Theory, Ross Jackson outlined a “Gaian Paradigm,” predicting a “breakaway strategy,” the leading edge of a rapidly accelerating grassroots revolution toward a truly sustainable, equitable, holistic global polyculture (2012, p. 34). He adds that “A very visionary and charismatic leader of high integrity could make all the difference.” Fuller believed this and describes his own intention toward active Positive Deviance with similar words. He thought it of profound importance that we all join him in his regenerative discovery that we are the visionary, charismatic leader-species of universally mindful integrity—as soon as we nail down the “Win-Win” cooperative ecological balance issue. This positive self view, emerging as a dominant global polyculture, will open our sensory receivers to the discovery that we are already, and have always been, engaged in the greatest cooperative revolution in history.  In fact, cooperative and inclusive regenerativity is the teleological message-to-ourselves emanating from our ancestors, to the present moment.

Within this awareness of global climatic impact lurks our growing recognition of systemic dissonance. Elisabet Sahtouris gathers the refrain of three major system crises—energy, economy, and climate—fusing into the Perfect Storm. “This situation…actually makes this an amazing time of opportunity to create the world we all deeply want!” (2012, p. 18). Rather than continuing the messianic hope for an individual prophet of inclusive cooperative integrity, Sahtouris observes that, “The Internet is the largest self-organizing living system created by humanity and is changing everything.” (p. 23). Perhaps Buckminster Fuller reincarnates John the Baptist on our way toward a “We”Messiah comprehensive analysis of Bosons and Information bit-strings, crowding and clouding the eternal World Wide Web.

A bionic agent for global regeneration into a permacultured Gaian Paradigm strangely circles us back to Fuller’s prediction for a post-millennial cultural metanoia.

Electronic means will have been highly developed for continually inventorying all of humanity’s thoughts, volitions, and dispositions regarding all currently evolving problems. Humanity will know at all times what the unique majority volitions may be regarding each and every currently recognized and considered problem. (1965, p. 159)

Here Fuller anticipates an electronically-fueled information system of holistically integrated mindfulness, inclusively accessible for positive, and regenerative, intent.

The post-millennial Editors of Evolutionary Psychology remind us that the evolution of our collective awareness is so accelerated that we are producing unprecedented quantities of information being read word-by-word, sentence-by-sentence, by fewer people. Increasingly we are looking for large data trends, and clouds, and crowds, to notice and predict systemic eruptions, climatic tsunamis, and the bicameral Species’ evolution toward a positive-teleological, economic, educational, cultural, ecological, and nutritional embrace of Jackson’s “Gaian Paradigm.” This Paradigm predicts a holistic teleo-psychology of global regenesis, combining the natural system principles of Permaculture Design with the health and well-being principles of Positive Psychology. This synergetic view of natural and psychological evolution romps through the theory, therapeutic practice, intent, principles, and outcomes of the Positive Deviance Institute (www.positivedeviance.org).

We have a large data cultural trend toward a more cooperative and holistically balanced Positive Psychology. We show ourselves this trend through noting on-line Positive Deviance trajectories for Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), while we continue exploring a rational basis for equating psychological CQI with the CQI of polynomial trend articulation. The Tellus Institute (www.tellus.org), for example, studying long-term economic, political, and ecological performance trends, has labeled as “The Great Transition” their most positively deviant trajectory, in comparison to lose-lose economic/ecological norms.

Tellus Institute brings together respected scientists who have been developing algorithms for large trend information data analysis since the mid-1970s. The emergence of their Great Transition trend continues to identify the positively deviant trends within the underlying metric assumption of Information Systems Theory: that “positive” is the binary reverse of “not-positive” in a thermodynamically balanced universe.

As a bicameral Species, we prefer “positive” over “negative” outcome projections because we choose as positive those trends that meet CQI global well-being predictions. The Great Transition trend analysis is positively deviant from a core (0) binary axis. An increase in cooperative global system development, practice, and intent has had the greatest effect with least effort for the survival of bicameral (“bi-polar”) balance, confluence, harmony since the beginning of time.

When good things happen to us as a species, they tend to last, to be remembered, and coded into our DNA. We tend to survive longer, individually and collectively and inclusively. When bad things happen, we note the negative side of our binary information field with “0”s, “noise,” dismay, desolation, demons, irrationality, darkness, and cognitive dissonance. Perhaps this negative polarity is what David Bohm understood as “the implicate order” and what the Dalai Lama might think of as a purgative mindfulness of suffering, within and without. Our implied “antimatter” is ex-formed awareness of what matters only when its absence harms us, is socioculturally, and historically, pathological to our RNA. Neither individuation nor individuals can survive in the absence of formation, the absence of any form of relationship, or difference, or “self” and otherness.

Does Positive Psychology become germane to Evolutionary Psychology because our post-millennial World Wide Web organizes positive and negative polynomials using the same systemic design, a (0) Core Prime Relationship Principle, as does ribonucleic acid’s information string system? Is uracil, then cytosine, then adenine, then guanine a fused self-regenerative informing string with morphological mimicry as (0)-soul (Perelman, 1994) leads to +.50%, leads to -.50%, leads to 1.00% QBit?  This primal 4-fold Group Theory also seems familiar in trigonometric functional sequence as:

(0) Core Vector YIELDS sine/x-axis, YIELDS cosine/y-axis, YIELDS tangent.

The sine definition determines the cosine definition, and vice versa, like Yang and Yin. The tangent, or tension between appositional trajectories, is the greatest effective positive/negative linear trend, with least effort, greatest simplicity, least dissonance and anomaly, between the opposite extremes of the two polarities.

Prophets, psychics, and polymath advocates, organizers, organic farmers, creative-formational educators and designers, deep learning ecologists and economists seem to share a positive teleological psychology. Julian Jaynes, in his evolutionary theory of human psychological development, suggests that our bicameral speciation event was the progenitor of left-hemispheric dominance, right hand functional dominance, the emergence of language, and cognitive application of metrics to symbology. The fractal-axial right-hemisphere uses proportion, balance, power, and 8-bit octave-frequency audio-visual codex for storing potentially recombinant information. These memory strings of Jacobian-matrixed confluent and dissonant events extend back through our proto-historical Eastern horizon (see Abram, 1996) to arrive again, regeneratively, at our Original Prime Relationship. Perhaps the regenerative unfolding of RNA structure is itself a cultural-historical proof of the Jacobian conjecture, and the creative fractal potential of 4-based Group Development Theory.

The positive teleology of Buckminster Fuller, Jackson, Sahtouris, the Tellus Institute, and the younger leadership voices of the Great Transition Generation, is concerned with why what happens really happens. What are our positive syntropic information strings leading toward therapeutic outcomes? However, the urgency for natural and psychological systems change is driven by the reverse, negative, polarity; why what does not happen does not happen—why sociopathology exists. A positive teleological response within nature might sound like “Because nature abhors a vacuum, and weeds, and prefers to follow the path of greatest nutritional effect by watering just the blossoming plants.” Evil is just the absence of good. While this does indeed seem to be true to my positive experience, I am also aware of a considerable precipitation that has fallen on my days with negative delivery and outcome frequencies. Why do bad things happen to positive people? Why does nature sometimes rain negatively on our positively parading paradigms?[1]

Positive and Negative Psychology might recognize that our natural system has its own teleo-psychologic. Rain is a valuable functional resource within this natural ecology. What determines whether this rain on this day is a positive function or a negative function in relationship to me depends on how I individuate my Self. How do we choose to identify ourselves as a Species within nature? Are we part of this recycling in-forming and ex-forming regenerative rhythm? If so, then rain is always a gift, an act of grace, and the Positive Deviant response is gratitude.

The positive evolutionary strings of human memory, of speciated memory, are axially prime rooted, with “positive” geometrically conceived as “up,” while the negative evolutionary strings of  bad memory are reverse-axially prime rooted—subconsciously buried in negative polarity dissonance, chaos, irrationality, the unknown and unknowable; and downright disagreeable.

Psychological in-formation and ex-formative liminal (implied) Boundary Memory Codex, in a somewhat balanced bicameral mind, speak to each other with gratitude and hope for confluence. At the same time, somewhere in our Right hemispheric function, we are intuitively mindful of purgative aptic[2] non-responsiveness to an environmental absence of relationship and  significant information; trending toward a “Self” individuation threat to sanity. Sustained lack of permacultural confluence may lead to chronic lack of sleep, may lead to post-traumatic stress disorder, may lead to autistic double-bind, internal inter-hemispheric, struggles at younger and younger ages.

Negative teleological strings are memories of our sociopathology just as positive teleological memory strings are memories of our fractally developed, synergetically-intuitive, sociotherapy. Positive therapy predicts the greatest regeneration with the least effort within a thermodynamically balanced positive/negative psychic system. Some of us call this optimizing regeneration Permaculture Design; others call it Appreciative Inquiry (www.centerforappreciativeinquiry.net), or Dynamic Facilitation (www.wisedemocracy.org), or the TrimTab Principle (Fuller). As a Taoist, as well as a bicameral information processor, I call it the Tao of (0)-soul Yang/Yin Prime Root Relationship. As a communicator, I recognize Positive Deviance as a sustainably and inclusively regenerative “Win-Win” Information String.

The creative act within cognitive, and mechanical, system design follows an aesthetic preference for inclusively positive-trending regeneration, where dissonance is absorbed as further evidence of the potential for positive confluence. This may be why, when I surf my World Without Walls, I am watching Wikipedia fill in, while less cooperative sites for developing holistic information suffer  neglect, why there appears to be more dancing in feminist circles and less marching in macho-squares.

That we live and think within a bicameral information system may also explain why positively-cognized space and time (P) is reversely equal, and analogous, to not-polynomial space/time (NP—implicately ex-formed “antimatter” is “antirelationship”).[3]

Fuller’s greatest effect (+1.00%) with least effort (-0.00%) toward a CQI sociotherapeutic psychology is Tellus Institute predicted to produce globally inclusive and sustainably regenerative Great Transition outcomes. These outcomes may, in turn, be summarized as optimal well-being and eco-equity pervading all species, paradigms, energy fields, natural, spiritual, quanta, and in-formation systems. Optimizing the evolution of our psychology is liminally defined as positive polarity, which is linear-trend appositional to the dissonant extremes of sociopathology.  The Great Transition regenerates the Golden Rule; adding more universal integrity to that Rule. We now move toward applying Appreciative Inquiry within our own inter-hemispheric dialogue. Left and Right hemispheric balance teleologically, even messianically, emerges as the last dying-wish gasp of insight at the conclusion of our left-hemisphere, deductively dominant era. A brief flash of synergy as Earth absorbs the Sun once more; a positively deviant omen for a more confluent day emerging.

If evolution is survival of the fittest within a species, revolution is the sustained survival of the greatest, most inclusive, difference between species and paradigms and nutrient/regenerative strings with least dissonance within a polyculture, or environment, or planet, or universe of ideas. Revolutionary evolution of a new paradigm or species is completed through the mutually affinitive synchronization of cultural change within each individual in a species. The Positive Deviance trend of Information decreases by reducing the appositionally correlated Negative Deviance from (0) Axial Prime Relationship Balance. What was positively deviant, becomes the newly recalibrated Business As Usual, with more sustainable outcomes over longer periods of time, for more species and psyches.

ReGenesis is post-millennial global comprehension of revolutionary evolution as sociohistorical therapy. Positive Evolutionary Psychology is mutually cooperative, self-perpetuating form and self-defining functional balance of Yin-Yang interdynamics. Tao psychometrics articulate mindful intentionality and a

diversely creative,

bicamerally (bi-dimensionally) comprehensive,

teleologically trending

global Awareness.

 

There is an evolutionary strain among geneticists and historians that the precursor to the regeneration of a species (or paradigm), that our DNA Codex actually loosens up on instinctive or dominant hardwire. This internal reverse regeneration may be the Stage 1 of what potentially becomes a speciation event. This is the sense of urgency. The Code changes from positive or negative to (0). What was exegetical, orthodox, reality becomes, for a transitional generation, eisegetical; maybe true, maybe not.[4]

During Stage 2, after the information/eformation exchange ratios even out, natural systems produce more positive and negative anomalies from what had been the Received Cultural View (and, possibly, the culture of DNA plasma).

During Stage 3, bicameral minds inductively notice which deviations are positive and which are negative, based on which have the greatest balancing dynamic effect that is most sustainable for our long pilgrimage together. Examples coming up for me are bisexuality and androgyny, in the face of prolific human overpopulation of the planet; but that might just be a faulty intuitive string.

During Stage 4, the “Greatest Effect with Least Effort” teleological principle unfolds as no adjustment of the Codex values-culture. Instead PermaCultured Codex is reinforced by the emerging early Positive Deviants. They slowly, then more quickly, become recognized as predictors of a new speciation opportunity.

During Stage 5, the strengths of +.50% Yang-Information are found to be the therapy needed to respond effectively to the -.50% Yang-dissonant reverse trending Exformation.

During Stage 6, PermaCulturally trained bicameral minds diastatically notice that Yang-NegativeInformation equals Yin-PositiveExformation, which functions within any in/ex-formally balanced psychology as Yang = +1e-Bit Polynomial (P) OVER

So, the metrics of  logic and analogy, unfold as a 4-Staged teleologically developing information string, when the SINE and COSINE are dynamically balanced.

During the climatic Stage 8, Evolutionary Psychology becomes aligned with Positive Psychology and Compassionate Socioeconomic Therapy because psychologists, even without mindfulness training, realize that the reason one positive thing seems to associate with another positive thing is because everything is both caused and effected by everything trying to achieve thermodynamic balance, and reverse-caused (predicative/implicated function only) or exformed in this Eternal Moment.

Yang’s Negatively Deviant polynomials are dissonant exformative polynomials (NP). Our socioeconomic pathology teaches us our most sustainable therapy. Yin is NP, which is not polynomial information, but is reverse-Polynomial exformation. Yin is the reverse-temporal COSINE toward antirelationship in a univariate-binomial unformed (-e) Universe, decomposing into implicated Bosons of potential future moments.
