Catalyzing CoEmergence

S/he reads, with great enthusiasm,
Andrew Cohen’s take on “Catalyzing Emergence.”

“The most challenging aspect of vertical spiritual development is the evolution of our value spheres. Given the right circumstances, it is not difficult to enter higher states of consciousness and in those higher states, to glimpse the exciting possibilities that await us on the other side of the status quo, beyond our predictable and fixed way of perceiving how things are. But it is another matter altogether to dislodge those predictable and rigid perspectives and embrace new and higher values.” (p 185, 2011, “Evolutionary Enlightenment: A New Path to Spiritual Awakening.”

S/he hears:
A challenging aspect of deep ecological development
is this continuing evolution
of our political-economic
(reductively labeled “military-industrial” in Left-brain dominant languages) bicameral spheres of co-arising influence.

Given sufficient rationally ecological comprehension,
it is not difficult to enter deeper states of ecological consciousness
and in those deeper states of polycultural nutrition,
to glimpse sustaining possibilities awaiting us
on tomorrow’s more paradigmatically confluent side
of the present moment,
beyond our predictable competitions
of ego- and anthro-centered monocultures
and our fixed way of perceiving
how our own nature evolves toward health
and/or pathology.

But we are altogether an Other’s co-passioned matter to balance/tip
those predictable and rigid ego/anthro elitist perspectives
and re-join deeper (0)-centric co-intelligent wealth
and higher health/ecotherapeutic values.

And s/he is glad for such rich compost to fill Earth’s Day,
Catalyzing Co-Emergence.

Open Letter to Co-Evolutionaries

Dear Andrew Cohen,

I am riveted by “Evolutionary Enlightenment: A New Path to Spiritual Awakening.”  Your theme that enlightenment need not be limited to elitist and eisegetical experiences, memory, but invites us to become co-pilgrims in and through this evolutionary epic, feels both important and strategic for this climatically transitional time.

Perhaps because I just finished reading Charles Eisenstein’s “Sacred Economics,” which also tells an evolutionary story, I am hearing your voice as inviting evolution toward the primal economic value of health. Not just healthy outcomes for human nature, but for all of Earth’s Tribes.

I am also influenced by at least three other evolutionary models that offer some interesting collective redundancy about the evolution of consciousness as emerging toward a cultural revolution of bicamerally balanced (Julian Jaynes, evolutionary developmental psychology of Left-brain language and cultural bicameral dissonance) eco-consciousness as eco-logic, a dialectic co-arising Earth’s RNA enculturation with AnthroCentric DNA as YangDominant ecobalancing YinRecessive regenerational CQI Standards for health assurance, surviving thru thriving, inclusively polycultural in diastatic/climax universal spacetime position.

Where you think of “vertical momentum,” I read deep Exterior/Interior Landscape Ecologically Rooted Cooperative UnEarthing.

Where you choose “creative,” I choose regenerative [PermaCultural.

Where you remind us, and warn us, that “ [t]he evolutionarily enlightened soul lives for change” I want to nuance eco-consciousness is of both positive and negative change, both nurturing and toxic, and more polyculturally enlightened ecosystems nurture therapeutic, healthy change, and disinvest of pathological, dissonantly unhealthy and both economically and ecologically irrational change. Wow, that was kind of long, so you can see, perhaps, I am also influenced by the geometric systems of mind revolutionary Prime-Relationship dynamic system theory of Buckminster Fuller.

So, again, where you choose “change” I would probably choose “optimizing polycultural health” of positively deviant evolutionary trends. (recommend www.positivedeviance.org kind of a health-related social-evolutionary systems theory, producing surprisingly positive health and safety outcomes. Makes me wonder what positively deviant characteristics, patterns, lifestyle decisions, economic and political decisions might we find in the population of seasoned ecotherapists and feminist-permaculturists and organic farmers? Probably more cooperatively Win-Win strategists and interdependently-relationally/transactionally oriented, more eco-centric, and less Left-brain dominant competitive Win-Lose egocentric. I’m guessing that’s what Earth’s climatically changing voices might be showing us as important PolyCulturally Healthy Positive Deviance.

“we are part of a process that is [cooperatively] going somewhere.” Again, while I realize this word “cooperative” may be implied by our evolutionary context for you, that is not necessarily the perspective of more marginalized, stigmatized, under-valued readers who understand our evolution story as profoundly Win-Lose competitive. I learned in grade school that the theory of evolution supports the historical accuracy of survival of the fittest; certainly suggesting it would be to one’s advantage to at least steer away from those who are the least fittest, as these are inevitably hopeless losers in life’s crapshoot.

It is both good and important news, then, that Earth’s evolution of ecoconsciousness is both positively trending toward polyculturally cooperative interdependent health optimization, while monocultural competitive independent wealth deposits have already begun to wilt.

“Most human beings don’t live for change.” but do live for love, synergy, healthy thrival, which requires developmental change.

I suspect our deep “preconscious orientation toward stasis” is also a deep dis-logical cultural orientation toward Win-Lose political/relational and economic/normative/monomial competition stasis.

While “living for change” does indeed sound “unbearable,” living for sustainable polyculturally-inclusive cooperative health-therapy for Me and We sounds like an opulent life of Beloved Community abundance could at least be a shared hope among the evolutionarily enlightened.

To conclude, for fear of excessive redundancy, from p. 185, your sentences in quotes, with my perhaps too dense nuancing in brackets:

“The cultural ego is the [Left brain dominant-languaged OVER Right brain recessive-inductive] status quo, which lives in both our [Left] conscious [language] and [Right-autonomic temporal-syntaxed, regeneratively functioned] unconscious [unlanguaged] minds.”

Which brings me to the third teleological evolutionary theory in my life, an emerging TransMillennial Taoism, perhaps. Where we struggle against our unraveling Left-brain dominant straight white male over-representation on the “Most Likely to Stay Healthy through Future Generations”, I see Yang power, paradigmatically parallel to Buckminster Fuller’s “convex polynomial universal energy”; and where we struggle with our Right-brain recessive non-white, not-straight, feminist over-representation on the “Most Likely to Help all of us Stay Healthy through Future Generations, I see YinYin as WinWin unitarianly opulent flow-pattern frequencies, paradigmatically parallel to B Fuller’s “concave bilateral unitarian dipolar co-arising/co-falling Time,” breathing in this healthy intimacy of sacred eco-conscious passion, to breathe out cooperative peace inclusive of all Earth’s Tribes.

Conversation with Chris Santos-Lang

My internal conversation with you, Kramer, Bressan, and all our microbes, together, in brackets.

What “Letting People [and Places, including Earth] Be Themselves” Means

In “Humans as Superorganisms: How Microbes, Viruses, Imprinted Genes, and Other Selfish [Mutually-Struggling] Entities Shape Our Behavior,” Peter Kramer and Paola Bressan present evidence that we are [nondual] “not unitary individuals,” but rather “collections of human and nonhuman [RNA/DNA-regeneratively syntaxed] elements that…in an incessant [cooperatively contentious] struggle [default as positive ‘with’ and sometimes ‘negative reverse-synaptic’ against], jointly define who we are.” The research they highlight challenges those of us who want to ‘let people be themselves’ to explain precisely what we mean by “themselves [and ourselves.” If people are [nondual] not unitary individuals, then what could “themselves [as ourselves]” refer to?

The notion that we are not unitary individuals is not new. [Plato didacted the interdependence of intrinsically social beings, and the neoplatonists went wild with that core holonic universal view.] Quantum physicists have pointed out that every atom of our bodies is entangled with the entire universe [inclusive of both Bohm’s Explicate Order and Implicate Order and Buckminster Fuller’s Convex-Positive-Special Case v. Concave-Double-Bilateral-Reverse-String-Temporal Metaphysical Interior Eco-Cooperative TransParent Function-more or less], biologists have pointed out that less than 2% of those atoms remain in us for over a year, and psychologists have pointed out that the mechanisms of our [positive] cognition typically extend beyond our brains to include scratchpads, musical instruments, calculators, and the Internet [and extend back through time toward the distant progenitive-as-regenerative origins of fractal-syntaxed RNA]. Kramer and ressan add merely that our [economic] values [as objectives] and [political] preferences [as subjective progenitors]–what we call our “soul”–is just as entangled with our environment as are our other aspects.

In my opinion, the most compelling branch of their argument is the one relating to microbes. Only about 10% of the various types of [RNA/DNA fueled] cells our bodies require to flourish are [DNA] human. The rest are [RNA-uracil-rooted] microbes. Although most of the microbe studies cited by Kramer and Bressan were conducted on mice, it seems clear that the decisions humans make–how we vote, whom we marry, whether we commit a crime–depend upon which microbes dominate our internal [autonomic] ecosystem at the time. Thus, we can lose our [perception of autonomous] identity–the person our friends know us to be may cease to [monopolistically] inhabit our [mind-]bodies–not just through a lobotomy, but also through some combination of antibiotics and probiotics which irreversibly [or reversibly? I wonder?] tip the balance of power among the microbes within us.

Such microbes might be called parasites of our [mutually parasitic] bodies, but they cannot be parasites of [with?] our selves, for they are an essential part of who we are. Kramer and Bressan would argue that our rights belong to our entire internal [and external] ecosystem[ic landscapes], including those microbes. Laws to protect you [and Earth] must therefore take the form of laws to protect an ecosystem, not necessarily protecting particular microbes, but protecting [mutually parasitic reverse-hierarchically structured, increasingly cooperative metasystemic, with bilateral (concave/convex) spacetime, co-prehensive] balance among them. This sets the stage for shocking reform of our legal system and conception of human [as nature’s spiritua/ergodic/ionic/cogravitational] rights [of freedom to cooperate balancing freedom from struggling-against competition of Other].

Perhaps the paradigm of “selfish-survivalist” genes has been unduly influenced by a culturally jaundiced interpretation of Darwinian evolutionary struggle. But the default setting on Darwinian evolution is positive-regenerative, which would suggest struggling with others to maintain co-gravitational balance, perhaps defining what I mean by eco-normic cooperation. Nature’s biological systems seem to struggle against mutually negative {lose, lose} eco-gravitational disbalancing choices, which might be paradigmed as competitive eco-politics. Struggling is normatively neutral; “selfish” is not, and assumes a monocultural level of competitive-default objectives that is not supported by the regenerative fact that cooperative polyculturally organic nature, life, exists at all.

Summary Notes, Dillenbeck:

Cooperative economic subjects lead toward competitive, politically-healthy, objectives of eco-consciousness.

Struggling with suboptimized relationships avoids over-attachment to a moderately-healthy Win-Lose poly-econormic status-quo.

Romeo and Juliet: The ReMix

Today we are going to role play
a Win-Win enculturation game.

We will define enculturation as
‘the combination of political and economic reiterative relationships and transactions
within a communicating network
of choice-making.’

The absence of political-economic co-arising redundancy
generates systemic dissonance,
suboptimized positive outcomes, at best,
in which positive information is lost,
putting this enculturation game at risk of turning from Win-Win,
to Win-Lose.

This would result in a suboptimized and, to that extent,
polypathological outcome,
useful for recognizing opportunities to do better,
to do good and fair and justice,
to do Being, fully cooperatively eco-balanced consciousness.
Maybe.
We’ll see.

Sr. Gaia:
It feels like Yang is too Left-brain dominant,
too competition-default.

I realize it’s Yang’s role to carry the dense, hot, close inhalation side of gravity’s bi-elliptical wave toward the future,
on which this Universe surfs in timeless eternity,
and I value those political and economic qualities and quantities,
forms and functions,
all those verbal dynamic kins of cultural incarnations
that must continue to emerge

Yet, I am terrified of becoming too thin,
too cool and shy,
too absent,
too chaotically dispersed,

despairing,
suffering,

then I guess that would be most everything we know nothing about

Wild Fire Management

I suspect you are right, that we get confused about the messages Earth gives us about what is optimally and sustainably healthy and inclusive of full diversity, including full-diversity of our anthro-centric neural systems, and degrees and oscillating waves of comparative mind-body health v. pathology.

When we measure the health of our political and economic forest, it would seem confusing and misguided to compare lifespans of the average organism within one forest to those of another, and thereby determine anything germane to comparative diverse “health-robustness” optimization of inter-species cooperative relationships . Although it might be interesting to compare the lifespans of the median organism–but maybe that’s what you meant, because the outcome measures are of trees, which should be about right in terms of the comparative internal diversity of Earth systems, but would be entirely wrong with regard to average lifespan of the entire incarnate biosystem within an ecosystem. We are essentially measuring the robustness of our temporal-Elders with median levels of regenetic-diversity balance in their endosymbiotic information processing and embryonic storage systems.

I think in Permaculture Design we learned that the old dead trees are best cut down and burned for fuel to heat our homes, allowing more room for a nearby medium tree to flourish, grow more robust, or perhaps even two or three trees to share this newly accessible ring of photosynthetic fuel.

What the forest seems to be saying to our “burn management” school of forest management, is to include age diversity in our measure of biosystemic diversity as a positive, and to assess each individual gift of the forest for its highest and best use, rather than trying to micromanage from on high. Facilitating trees of all ages  and digestive-breathing diversity of interrelationships is complex, requires considerable listening and discernment, and sitting together, showing up and showing to each other what we need to survive together.

The real measure of robust sustainable health is probably universally inclusive and unitarian-intended diversely welcoming, inviting political/economic environments. With trees and meditators and therapists we call this Basic Attendance, setting aside nutrient/neural-assumptions of cognitive/affective dissonance/pathology.

I suspect that mental health is mind health, and I suspect that our “mind” is not rationally reduced to a synonym for “brain” or even “head.” I further suspect that the combination of economic ecological health and political-private relational anthro-centric health are, for each of us, and for all of us. as cooperative co-mentors of health (because that’s what DNA is positively designed to do, that is DNA/RNA’s vocation, if you will, regeneratively sustainable health), the real-time currency of optimized Continuous Quality Improvement currently emerges, co-arises, as cooperative healthy-wealth care and perpetuation toward future healthy regenerators of all species.
