It feels misguided,
yet I do not feel misled,
to aspire to fame, measured in assets
and/or in power to influence others,
capital and social benefits
possibly acquiring famous
and infamous allies
in glorious success
and
ingloriously dramatic defeat
of naked front page stories.

It feels safer
and healthier
for resiliently wealthy outcomes
to aspire to unnoticed integrity
with other win/win healthy players–
neighbors earn extra safety points.
Finally,
or even partially, realizing
it is for this we are born
and yet belong already
sacred subjects more than secular objectives,
sympathetically with,
and compassionately of,
living Earth

Both humane naturally competitive interest
and divine spiritually cooperative
multicultural investment.

 

I might have once lived
on a planet
in an actively green multiculture
of Holistic-Organic Nature/Spirits

Green spiritual ecofeminist climate activists
are at least equal to natural red-blooded egopatriarchal
monoculturing
swelling sticks,
thinking in Lose/Lose nihilistic
ecopolitics
white privileged preferring
straight male trucker dialects
more orthodox and safe
than furry dark panthers
speaking in baritone deep passions

While sinking within our/their
capital-unnaturalistic Win/Lose
old school Theory of MonoCapitalistic Patriarchal Evolution

As if Earth were created
by a fascist monotheistic patriotic nationalist
and, of course, a courageous champion
of competitive win/lose rights
to choose “later” on the Climate-Loser side,
white western male monocultural disempowerment
of dominant Trumpian vintage.

Short term capital LeftBrain losses
deferred on out
into also now even longer
long
long longing terms
with degenerative ecopolitical trends,

Like borrowing
on our children’s evaporated corporate
win/lose capital-industrial-militarization
lose/lose anthro/theo/eco/ego/bio/neuro/zero energy
future degenerative naturally spiritual
restorative justice
seeking historic win/win amends

We might once live
on a planet
with an actively green multiculture
democratically formed

Revolutionary Para-Dime Differences

A difference between compassion and sympathy,

between co-empathic passion
and unilateral YangPatriarchal-empathic,
ego-empowering intent,

Compassion matures passion FOR
to shared passion WITH.

This same emergent fluidity
cannot be said of sympathy
for suffering of Other,
who remains another dissociated Other

Exempted from democratic inclusion
in further considerations
of constitutionally appropriate applications
of Golden Rules
to those who remain
in darker xenophobic shadows
more appropriate for retributive reaction
than restoration to peaceful justice response.

This same contrast and compare
may also apply to political empowerment

competitive economic investment,

to global enlightenment

of self-enrichment,

to recreative cooperative love
and to recreational competitive lust

Now that some of us
revolutionaries and evangelists
of the ecological 1960s
have been given this great green gift

Settle for fading sympathy,

Winter’s Writing Choices

Approaching winter…

OK, maybe encroaching mid-winter
of life’s seasonal span
with resonantly compelling grace,
perhaps even transparent vulnerability,
feels controversial,
too laissez-faire

Too much courage
in declaring preliminary success
with too little curiosity
about what happens next
on planet Earth

Continuing to revolve all four seasons
dynamics
holistic lenses.

I recall the poet’s admonition
to not go quietly
into this winterish
cold night.

Life’s final reflective opportunity
does not invite quiet
so much as impassioned peace
of a windless snowfall
blanketing all I can see
and more faintly hear,
touch and awkwardly feel,
smell and bittersweetly taste
unsafe passage.

I recently moved from autumn habitat,
a creative tension between summer’s midlife climax
and this new winter habit
above Connecticut’s exquisite Salmon River.

This is a compromised writer’s winter hermitage
shared with my son who cannot speak
but can roar,
who cannot walk by himself
but can scoot
and belly laugh at his own internal sensations
and my external sensational sounds.

And, following Daquan
from my fall habitat
to winter’s eremetical search for peace,
however coldly displaced,
with social
and political
and spiritual
and natural distancing,

Behind Daquan
are daily in-home nurses
and his most avid companion,
my romantically distanced husband.

He comes bearing gifts
of clothes,
cleaning supplies,
far too much meaty food
for a proper hermitage
and not enough
for sufficient redemption
and for self-forgiveness.

He comes unaware of my ecofeminist wintering spirit,
longing for Earth’s warm womb justice
restoring peace
resilient through all four seasons
of present
past
and future Earth lives.

My ecofeminist lineage
feels too white to him,
not a journey for him
and our two brown sons
and my brown and cerebral palsied daughter
and Daquan.

So, this writer’s winter hermitage
remains newly compromised by past fall
and summer
and even spring
of extended multicultural family life.

May it always be so
or no,
I’m not sure which to pray for
or against
as I quietly write
into this warm and peaceful night,
just right,
not too dim or bright.

My Esteemed Teacher

My esteemed Rinpoche
repeatedly impresses upon me
Our humane democratic vocation
to become an enlightened individual.

Which sounds like a monoculturing lot,
for absorbent
co-acclimating residents and guests
of Earth’s cooperative hermitage,
To accomplish
in solitude,
in one semi-lifetime,
demi-deathtime.

While this seems ambiguously troubling,
I feel more at peace
whenever this Rinpoche tells a salvation story
about one highly evolved,
on a scale of enlightened
through thoroughly disempowered.

The protagonist,
usually with some environmental antagonist,
always a highly enlightened individual
with compelling curiosity
returning dividends
in deep listening for natural empowerment
as also spiritual enlightenment,
integrity’s win/win potential
not not polynomially balancing
healthiest default outcome.

multicultural mediators
between disciples and story tellers,

Feels unlike both/and

The Americans

I am reminded of Biblical tearing down
of shrines to Baal,

cultural backs and shoulders,

heads and capital investments
away from our own idolatrous sins
of anthro-centric history.

Fair enough,
but, to gaze upon which new god
and goddess?
Green and Black sacred lives,
and red blood of The Lamb
and yellow SonLight
and blue Marian EcoFeminist
and ultra-nonviolet EarthMother Moon.

So many colors to choose
or not to choose
yet avoid new temples to Baal;

A crisis of risk and opportunity
dissonance and resonance
divestment and investment
degenerative and regenerative intent.

A critical discernment
between infamous and famous,
natural pathology and spiritual health.

What surprises me
in this current revolutionary purging
of racism
and violent colonialism
and rapacious patriarchalism
and perniciously predative mono-sexism
and almost hopeless anthropocentrism
is the resilience of Amerigo
[also Americus] Vespucci,
extractively merchanting
and mapping
and scientific explorer source
for “America”.

We had, in the 1500s,
The Americas,
South, then North
invested cartographers
led by Mr. Americus.

Indigenous populations,
now become Native Americans
in North America,
also used maps,
if not externally sketched in two dimensions,
then internally felt in spacetime four
spiraling through green seasons
of nutritional communication
bearing future fruit
and healthy seeds
and wealthy wombs.

Then came the United States of America.

because mappers and Earthologists

about whether this wild new West,

invites individual climate purgation,

to our natural senses,

Lone Warrior Rides Again

I wonder how much,
if any, distance
we might uncover
between The Lone Warrior
surrounded by weary white YesMen,
and The Naked Emperor
surrounded by timid white YesMen.

Both Warriors and Emperors
long for those they serve
by ruling over,
by disempowering healthy democratic voices
of critical dissent,
to wake up to their personal
omnipotent
privileged vision
and sacred words,
their supremely authoritative
and defensively authoritarian
win/lose knowledge

That competition to serve as YesMen
YesWomen
YesChildren
is the only appropriate role
for weak serfs;
those with too humble
poverty of spirit
and degenerative win/win nature,=
integrity
responsibility
compassion

Rather than daring
to look into our own Lone Emperor
richly naked eyes
of narcissistic disappointment.

Like all of us,
all Naked Warriors ever healthy long for
is to be appreciated
and played with
by peers
of resonant
compassionate integrity
caring
health wealthing.

The nakedly lonely
Warrior Emperor
of win/lose capitalistic politics

The problem with positive psychology,
said the good doctor,
it is too social science squishy,
not leftbrain prickly enough

but sometimes premature complexity
looks like yet another chaos theory,

Once upon time’s center

and sometimes loudly prophecy,

These aged and playful snowbirds
form a Wisdom Circle
conjoined by all farmers

Committed to Earth’s health care
in humble Vermont neighborhood places
spaces balancing Green Lives Matter races
into organically interdependent co-investments.

This Circle plans cooperative gardens,
MultiCulturally designing
and redesigning shared outdoor climate spaces
in and on now abandoned places
they purchase together
to divest of Green Commons neglect
and invest in a local cooperatively-held enterprise

With land and water and healthy air-based capital
where patient customers
become curious partners
contributing cash
but also labor,
beauty
and nutritional equity,
gracious investment
and/or benignly viral infestment.

This Green Wisdom Circle
plants fruit and nut trees,
vegetables EarthMothers insist they eat
and would like as much as fruit sweet
if they remain of right/left balancing mind.

They plant hemp,
and make baskets
and yoga mats
during dispersed winters
into the retiring diaspora
season for planning futures
of health restoring EarthJustice.

Circles of weavers
and knitters
turn lambs
into shorn sheep
into yarn
into blankets
socks
sweaters
skullcaps
winter masks
with ear muff handles.

Eventually
this Circle will reincarnate Wisdom
into Fire Circles for compline meditations
and story telling
into Singing Circles
of care medication
for young through old,
for those present living now,
and here dead
and yet to arrive
within all sacred regenerating species,

Egos circling within ecosystems,
interweaving networks
of TruthSeeker Circles
sharing win/win BeautyVisions,

Communion Farming Centers
within nonviolent communication systems
for engaging nutritional health,

Sacred ZeroCore recovery Allies,
not Lone Warriors,
within Earth’s fully present
compassionate
care giving as receiving.
