Polite Political Distance

I hope I would
find a difference
between cooperative masturbation
and making passionate love
if I could

I wonder if I should
recognize ego’s fulfillment
as more leftbrain secularized
and the other
as Old Green EcoSchool sacred
and red-blooded.

I hope a brief career
as a prostitute
was brief because I could not produce
a sultry fascinated look
for commercial leftbrain purposes.

I would not
because I could not
and perhaps it is not a flaw
in character
that the issue of should not
never co-arose.

I also wonder about my brief career
as a model.

I could not produce
the gift of an impassioned smile
for commercial purposes,
or at least not a smile
photographers found resonant,
nor sufficiently resilient
for longer term consumption.

Again, I would not
because I could not
force what my rightbrain felt
should co-arisingly
responsively flow from wealth
of safe and co-relational health,
secular and sacred.

I had a not brief enough career
as a commercial writer
for human development,
childhood
and young adult
and cooperative community development
agencies
for more warm than polite
politically empowering agency.

I could not fail to notice
how commercial professional fundraisers,
also known as beleaguered Executive Directors,
replaced original founders
whose hearts co-empathically arose
with compassion to serve,
and live in personal
and familial,
even tribal and global, solidarity
with all poor in spirit
disenfranchised from Earth’s sacred nature.

I retired
when I could not fail to notice
I was a white male privileged
commercial writer
for a straight white privileged
corporate culture
no longer even dreaming
of non-commercial solidarity
with those we were white privileged
to serve with increasingly secularized
mediocrity
of indentured servants
rather than rightbrain co-empathically committed
to robustly co-relational
co-passionate
cooperative attachments

Within EarthTribe’s unprostituted
organically whole
yet spiritually open
co-empowering relationships.

I wonder if I would
find a difference
between codependent political masturbation,
between Trumpian self-serving administration,
and founding democratic Fathers

UnNatural Generalists

I am more of a generalist
than a specialist
on nature
and on nurture,
on secular
and on sacred,
on ecological healthy relationships
and on theological interdependence.

Still,
like most reflective beings,
nourishing my interconnected rightbrain

finding our spiritual natures
mysteriously segregated
from more natural nurturings.

Merely personal green salvation
is necessarily incomplete,

cannot become sufficiently replete,

multicultural mediation,
nonviolent communication,

Personal comparisons
and interpersonal companions

environmental habitual passions
can be divisive
dismissive emancipations

Competing religiously dogmatic theory
and natural/spiritually felt experience
schizophrenically competing

empowers secularizing
minimizing
separating
dividing
unnatural desecration
anti-religious negativity
supremacy
missionary zeal
evangelistic violently prophetic communications
of natural environment mortality
and sinful conspiracy theories
and other bipolar forms and fields

of dissociative bad news.

internal spiritual v natural external contrasts
can yet distinguish analogical resemblances
between nurture and nature

Complementarity of open holistic religious systems
can become complexly unitive,

negentropically cooperative

Rightbrain polyphonically prominent
redeeming our children’s healthy climate
through mutually cooperative
communicating positive wealth
of bicameral energy

Suggests leftbrain dominating
disempowering negativity

And

At last,
we are angry with each other

communication healthy

Despite never considering this internal hypothesis

in not not equivalent potential
for ego/ecosystemic win/wins

I remain unsure
of how to reliably
robustly

and yet autonomously distinguish
between contemplative leisure

why Eastern metaphysicians,

continue to describe
ego as not only ignorant
of identity’s leisurely origins,

Winter’s Writing Choices

Approaching winter…

OK, maybe encroaching mid-winter
of life’s seasonal span
with resonantly compelling grace,
perhaps even transparent vulnerability,
feels controversial,
too laissez-faire

Too much courage
in declaring preliminary success
with too little curiosity
about what happens next
on planet Earth

Continuing to revolve all four seasons
dynamics
holistic lenses.

I recall the poet’s admonition
to not go quietly
into this winterish
cold night.

Life’s final reflective opportunity
does not invite quiet
so much as impassioned peace
of a windless snowfall
blanketing all I can see
and more faintly hear,
touch and awkwardly feel,
smell and bittersweetly taste
unsafe passage.

I recently moved from autumn habitat,
a creative tension between summer’s midlife climax
and this new winter habit
above Connecticut’s exquisite Salmon River.

This is a compromised writer’s winter hermitage
shared with my son who cannot speak
but can roar,
who cannot walk by himself
but can scoot
and belly laugh at his own internal sensations
and my external sensational sounds.

And, following Daquan
from my fall habitat
to winter’s eremetical search for peace,
however coldly displaced,
with social
and political
and spiritual
and natural distancing,

Behind Daquan
are daily in-home nurses
and his most avid companion,
my romantically distanced husband.

He comes bearing gifts
of clothes,
cleaning supplies,
far too much meaty food
for a proper hermitage
and not enough
for sufficient redemption
and for self-forgiveness.

He comes unaware of my ecofeminist wintering spirit,
longing for Earth’s warm womb justice
restoring peace
resilient through all four seasons
of present
past
and future Earth lives.

My ecofeminist lineage
feels too white to him,
not a journey for him
and our two brown sons
and my brown and cerebral palsied daughter
and Daquan.

So, this writer’s winter hermitage
remains newly compromised by past fall
and summer
and even spring
of extended multicultural family life.

May it always be so
or no,
I’m not sure which to pray for
or against
as I quietly write
into this warm and peaceful night,
just right,
not too dim or bright.
