Following Our Rules

In our Sharing Circles
we have a ground rule
to share a one speaker at a time floor
and unitarian silent listening support

And rules to not verbally share uninvited commentary
suggestions
agreements or disagreements
during, and after,
this formalized Circle.

Speakers are invited to share from experience only,
not from someone else’s story,
experiential and/or theoretical,
parental and/or academic,
personal and/or professional.

This is a Closed Circle
of verbal communications,
a rhetorically autonomous inside job
only silently noting our egalitarian
nonjudgmental
side by sideness
of authority
responsibility
compassion;

Help,
Thanks,
Wow!;

Truth,
Beauty,
Silent Passion…

If we are a composition,
we enter an historic symphony of solo voices
implicitly singing our universality
experiencing time’s nurturing
and severing qualities
and relentlessly insufficient quantity,
except when anyone else is speaking
business as too coldly
or too warmly
usual.

In our Reading Circles
our implicit ground rule culture differs
more in favor of the spontaneous spoken word,
this good news,
extemporaneous,
and bad fake news,
distemper-odious,
gospel we scribe together,

Usually one voice leading
a sustained melodic theme,
sometimes harmonic and splendid,
sometimes dissonant and diminished,
inviting in compassionate responses,
major and minor,
listening for counter-melodies,
for analogies
metaphors
curious oxymorons,
outrageous internal pun fun,
rhymes
and maybe the occasional reason,
held with soft determination
and not hard determinism.

Participants are invited to share
harmonic voices of MeToo
and to gently question why
my own dissonantly deviant choice
traps me in feeling detached,
uncertain,
less certain,
more certain we must be missing
some counter-balancing dirge of risk
and full-circle opportunities
for evolving peaceful revolutions.

We sing in Open Circle rounds
of theory meets experience
greets political philosophy
and primal attachment theory
applications to all relationships
ego logical and unlogical and anti-logical
and dis-passionate,
conscious and unconscious and suppressed consciousness
and more dispassion,
and ecological and ecosystemic
and healthy climate logical
for growing reading circles
into speaking and listening communion rounds
of timeless symphonic conversation,
dia-logos about favored/unflavored mythos.

Cooperative conveners
encourage each other
to speak from felt experience
of belief and disbelief
in some published teacher’s expression of experience
with timeless patience and time-heavy impatience,
of joy and sorrow,
courage and curiosity,
compassion and dispassion,
intimacy and repulsion,
about some subject’s story,

Where it does and does not meet our own time
chosen and not chosen
political and personal
economic and ecological
natural and spiritual
secular and sacred
regressive and progressive
inhaled and exhaled
patriarchal and matriarchal
competitive and cooperative
vulnerable and transparent
longing and belonging

New yet old
wealthy when healthy,
democratic when not kleptocratic,
integral when not fragmenting,
unitarian when not too universally closed
to further sacred gospel co-inspirations,
co-passion,
co-presence,

Timeless unity
yet eternal open university,

Secure rounds
yet within freeing surrounds,

Cultural sweet spots
within historic raw plots.

Queer Music

They lived across from each other
on and off the center floor dorm hall,
both on the much discussed
controversial LeftWing side.

Yang perused Yin’s CDs,
“I see you like that queer music,
Elton John
and Luther VanDross
and George Michael.
I didn’t notice that before.”

Yin responds quietly
calmly
amused:

First,
I don’t believe music is gay or straight,
but most everything related in-between
harmonic and dissonant,
diminished and replenished.

Lyrics may be queer or predictable
but usually flow well
either way
telling co-relating creation stories
of nature’s neural positives
and negatives
surfing back and forth
in and out
before and after
here and there
now and then
and yet to climax
polypathic health
as polyphonic wealth.

But, Second,
Feels to me all music,
maybe all muses,
are queer
when I think holistically about it,
us,
them,
verbally thought and non-verbally felt,
internally touched

By a rhetorical moment
we curiously know as music
without noticing how radically unlikely
regenerative processes
compassionate evolutions
could ever reproduce such homo-ingenious sounds,
rhythms,
patterns,
colors,
textures,
stories,
epic original empathic creations
and co-empathic octaved recreations
within such a LeftBrain heterosexual white privileged
RightWing capitalistic
narcissistically greedy
UnQueer Marching Against
the Great Historic/Futuristic muse and prophets
of harmony,
despite dissonance,
resonance,
despite fading resilience of Baby Xers,
polyphonic yin-mused light,
despite polynomial not not
climate of touch and feel dualdarkness.

Meanwhile Yang
couldn’t hear too well
since opening the window
facing spring
listening
to a cranked up RocketMan,
while athletically dancing to hot not unqueer music,
and Yin’s ears swayed tenderly after and before
queer musing
straight talk.

Sometime During the Night

Sometime during the night
I knew what was more right
to sing our songs
with great yang might
and soft yintegrity’s not wrongs.

We could sustain our notes
within this singing circle,
whether loud or soft,
but not too soft
to slowly feel our pitch
veer yinly flat.

Whether bright or dull,
vibrato or flat-line pure linear
waves of yang/yin sounds
to hear
to uniformly match dipolar
co-arising
and multiculturally mixed.

Then, as we listen and sustain,
we are free to retain our interdependent voices
of dissonance and confluence,
of dissent and harmony,
of resistance and peace,
and also free to change
toward growing harmony
or growing disharmony.

And, as we listen for re-alignments
in our ego/eco-voicing stream of time,
we grow free to hear with right-hemispheric wholeness
of our collective chord changes,
fluctuations,
together soft,
now growing louder,
softer,
bolder,
more peaceful
until fading into silent joy,
listening to our echoing after-ring power
of collective yang/yin reweaving memory.

We are no different,
on our better win/win communicating days,
of listening to curiously understand
than actively speaking out and up
for ego/ecological resilience
timelessly echoing,
both vibrato and flat-line
peacefully ever mountain/valley after.

Music Therapy

My LeftBrain is busy reading a book
on what Systems Theory
and thinking
and experience find encouraging
for WinWin social change,
where no losers are allowed to fail
at thriving away from WinLose capital stuckness
in everyday mundane egocentrism,

But,
at the same time
my RightBrain is trying to imagine how to share
scat jazz vocal experiments
so other sanctuary choir members
can have the same celebratory
and non-violent communication through music appreciation
that is in my practice
practice
and procedure skill-set,
more intuitive,
and less LeftBrain deductive.

I get to the bottom of my first paragraph today
and realize something has gone quite wrong
or right
and probably not not seductively wrong
so perhaps intuitively and inclusively correct,
true to nurtured experience,
helpful,
effective,
viable,
healthy.

I reread
and realize I’m not only writing in bracketed commentary
but also substituting a music paradigm
for a therapeutic systems change paradigm.

“The [vocal jazz] group
also identified several [harmonic] strategies
as shown in [chord and rhythmic flow notations]
on the importance of [diverse] community engagement.”

“[Jazz note and timing choices] capture the value
of asset mapping to identifying
and bridging [musical] opportunity gaps.”

“[Scat jazz] affirms the [political democratic empowerment] importance
of [not just LeftBrain] planning
for the built [notation] environment.”

“[Cleft, rhythm and key] Factors in the upper left corner
of the [two-voice] diagram
that impact the target [listener’s auditory] constraints
are [trebleYang and bassYin] shown.”

“Finally, in its [scaled octave] line[s]
at the bottom [through top] of the [musical] diagram,
the [jazz ensemble] acknowledge
the importance of [vocally] shifting [Left and Right, treble and bass]
mental models
throughout the [improvisation] process.”

Seems like a long-winded LeftBrain way of saying
Go with your flow of harmonic/dissonant options
to achieve our highest and best healthy enriching choices
together
as both performers
and interactive listeners,

But, some people don’t get RightBrain lost in the details
like I do,
so maybe some musicians,
wanting to make more resonant systemic change choices,
would find it helpful
for group jazz karaoke night
improvising green sanctuary social change
through harmonic solidarity.

NonConspiring Muses

Imagine DNA as architectural color design,
regenerative blueprint,
but written in fugue fractal songs,
no two exactly identical
except for twins.

Each species shows some shared architectural greyscale function
like staffs holding up a linear musical score
for counting eighth and sixteenth notes
in 4-dimensional realtime.

Each hue and cry species
shares it’s own seasoned key
and basic rhythmic nurturing structure
and range of song-scaled nutritional sound.

Animals sing in absorbing hues and cries of red and blue
and hibernate through ultra-violet greyscale early memories
both secular and more deeply sacred
convexly wondrous and concavely awesome
but also at risk of future terror,
WinLose cost cast as predative until mortal prey,
bully until un-organic victimized remains
dreaming in nightmare red inside
without blueprint memories of outside.

Meanwhile, smaller plants and microbes,
flora and brawny dream in green tree shade
and yellow sunlight
pushing out new deep learning roots,
sensitive to which humane divine songs
would favor and flavor us both sacred and secular beauty,
both spirit and nature true animal dynamism,

Nondual ZeroZone dynamics
of blue ahead
and red behind
green in-between
ultra-violet wisdom
of sacred secular animals,
EarthTribe cooperative lovers
reforesting economic and political health justice
both natural and spiritual,
ecological and theological
and sufficiently day/night BigNonBang
everyday DNA romantic revolutions
within dualdark polypathically logical
color-blind dream memories
in ultra-violet sound and green sight
taste and feel
unitarian smell and universally hear
windy redesigns and wintry ocean tides,
red skies dawning blueprints
for well-sung childhood songs.

for free fugue fractal songs,
no two green identical
except for dipolar newborn muses.

Final Operatic Scores

Of all vocations calling each of us
perhaps it is this final ecopolitical stage
most arduous.

To reflect with full integrity,
both Left dominant hubris history
with Right-recessed notnot full incarnation,
those unfulfilled promise valleys of aptic time
lost to Ego’s yangish self-promoting memory,
past vocations sequentially emerging transubstantiations,
pregnantly nurtured with Left/ElderRight bicameral balance.

But, balancing or notnot yet,
to reconsider one’s sins,
both consummated and omitted,
bringing slow-growth ballast to one’s enculturation of grace,
both those healthier blessings fully consumed
as therapeutically strived for regenerate production,
yet also known only through past struggles stretching ego-compassion’s constitutions,
declarations of Self+Other incorporating cooperative interdependence,
laughter’s miraculous love moments
best shared, yes,
but yet bittersweet nutrition alone,
remembering what lives best not forgotten.

This final vocation,
to merge our previous lives together
with those we hope to follow.
