Healthy Life v UnWealthy Death

In the Tibetan Book of Living and Dying,
Sogyal Rinpoche writes, unconvincingly,
to my left-grained dominant ears,

“No suffering,
however dreadful
[and even mortal]
is

meaningless
if it is dedicated
to the alleviation
of the suffering
of others.”

This abstract act of “dedication”
sounds suspiciously left-engrained
global monoculturing dominance
to me,
Looks like over-rationalization,
denatured theory of hypothesized sublimation,

Feels like arguments
for a spiritualized view of
disemobodied “sublimation” of sexual desires
that would merely replace,
by act of superego-divine willpower,
one disconnected set of sensory attractions
for another.

As if left-preyed reason
could control our natural
and spiritual flow of hormones,
the multicolored elixirs of right-trained connecting

When I was in an interfaith seminary
I noticed three models
for understanding a faith community’s purpose
in a democratic and diverse society.

To compete with,
and thereby degenerate the powers of,

in a monoculturally untrustable
hedonistic
degenerating society
destined for just rewards
of hellfire and damnation
because untrustworthy
and untruthfully obscuring privileged
eco-political capitalist patriarchalism.

  1. Liberating from EgoCentered Fear

To rescue us individual sinners,
benighted Earth defilers,
from our capitalist-patriarchal
competitive
oppressive
suppressive anti-feminist
homophobic
racist
ageist anthropocentrism;

To redeem our hopelessly negative
deviant bad health choices,
monoculturing,
left-brain dominantly encultured
verbal miscommunications,
disunions,
despairing experience of eternal apartheid,
loneliness,
unease and disease.

  1. Empowering win-ego/win-eco CoMessiahs
    To cooperatively enlighten each Other
    to grow in compassion
    and non-violent integrity of communication,

A Healthier Patriotism

My own patriotic U.S. extended family,
historically,
and currently

in our collective memories,
if not imaginations,
of spiritual communion
with all the more privileged saints
present,

But, we have also suffered
from rather too much faith in capitalism,
which, like democracy,
is frequently faulted as miserable,
but also lauded as better
than all the socialistic
communistic
devilistic
totalitarian
fascist
foreign
threatening
terrifying
anger-inducing alternatives.

Capitalism of our encultured
multigenerational minds
with left-hemisphere dominant brains
favoring natural secularized competitions
between saints and sinners
of diversely threatening monocultural privilege,
persuasions fundamentally supremacist
for democracy in theory
so long as not in perceived conflict
with self-serving capitalism in daily personal practice,
natural and spiritual,
secular and sacred,
ecological and theological.

We are egocentric
sometimes narcissistic
always bootstrap individualistic
evangelical redemption ecopoliticals
but focused on BadNews
of our need to invest in violent self-defense
against Marxist communism out there
in Hell

Not to be confused with commitment to GoodNews
of sacred divine communion
within our privileged StraightWhiteMale places
of apartheid worship
in awe and wonder
dogmatically committed to our StraightWhiteMale God

Made military-industrialized
in our best capitalistic,
not really quite so democratic paternalistic

I was a Taoist
philosophically and spiritually

long before my Public Administration classes.

Which may be poignantly of interest
because the original Taoist teacher,

is the yang/yin interplay

empowerment objectives.

When RightWing economic conservatives
look at the Constitution,
They see YangPatriarchal scripture
demanding sacred fealty,
defining orthodox hierarchical structures
to achieve “stay in the nationalistic competitive Black”
and bottom-line financial balance
between outgoing investments
and incoming returns
in experienced social
cultural
historically accumulating
nationalistic GNP value,
and don’t worry so much
about Earth’s capacity to repair
gross nationalistic consumption;

As if democratic virtue
is a free market bankable investment
for the personal governing pleasure
of those most successful
at capitalism’s win/lose game
of empowering/disempowering patriarchal
monotheistic straight-white values.

On the other hand,
LeftWing political liberals
step into embodied
full-sensory mindbody circles
to listen for Yin-ecofeminist
historical/cultural wisdom

Refining multicultural revolving spirals
of democratic power to cooperatively achieve
“you don’t always have to color within dogmatic lines”
in basic black
or business grey
or maybe brown
or navy blue conservatism,
